  1. Thanks to @Adrienne for the suggestion of putting it up here! Introducing the 1st Annual Orbis Hunger Games! This epic battle will pit 48 of Orbis' alliances against each other, with the winner receiving a life of riches and glory, getting free manhwa, burritos, and the annual privilege of fighting UPN. After the reaping, 4 tribute alliances from each district have been selected to go into the arena and fight. After days of preparation, the tributes are ready to enter the arena. May the odds be ever in your favor. I'll give everyone 30 minutes to speculate and place bets before Day 1 will begin. Enjoy!

Nation Link: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=214296 and https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=192965 Ruler Name: PartyAvocado and Kim Jong Wrong Nature of Violation: This is clearly war-slot filling and a coordinated bounty claim. They're members of the same alliance which avocado left to declare on Wrong and Wrong decommed his entire military to avoid mil casualties. Avocado has since rejoined 404 after declaring the war. Editing so that I don't get warned for posting in no discussion in response to @Borg He's got 2 bounties on him for a total of 28 million and the below battle results show that avocado killed no soldiers with his attacks meaning he had no soldiers in defense and only rebought them when someone informed him of this report. Also, you have a member declaring on another member who left the AA specifically to do it and was then readmitted which means you and your gov were aware of it. And his score graph clearly shows a massive drop in his military right before he got hit. Nice try tho. 06/09/2020 11:44 pm Jarl PartyAvocado of Stormcloak ordered a ground attack upon the nation of conman land led by superme leader kim jong wrong and eliminated 10 Resistance. However I sometimes like to look at some nation's we've lost on the way. The last time this fine lad logged into the game was in 1970! Nixon was still president back then! https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=52301

  8. Disagree, RNG is useful: Wars in real life often are won with lower rates. Arguably when attacking, cities should have fortification bonuses. It adds a risk/reward measure to battle ensuring people don't just put in enough to get a guaranteed risk but need to decide where to over-commit at times if needed/worthwhile. It's healthy to the in-game economy. It ensure more turnover of units/resources and especially when munitions/gasoline trade <5000, it's a built in anti-inflationary tool similar to credit trading for resources above 5k. I think having war RNG brings more to the table than it detracts.

  13. They're not saying Nuke turreting itself is a problem, they're saying nuke turreting becoming the primary strategy of the game is problematic. It might be a thing that happens in the current game, but it is not an effective means to win a war, just a lazy person's way to deal damage. The current meta is "Nukes are good for dealing damage against superior opponents with expensive infra, getting sitters off you whilst in beige, and baiting people into beiging you." Nukes becoming a large part of conventional warfare kills strategy, makes it hard for small/new alliances without large bank stockpiles able to compete in war, and ignores that they already serve a purpose in the current war system, a change in price would be a sufficient change, if any is necessary to begin with. The new nukes would also make it possible for pinned nations to drag their pinners by destroying the military improvements (along with the military inside). Edit: Scarf brings up a good point, if I'm a 32 city whale with the score of a city 20, I'm declaring on 5 city 16's right as my cities start reactivating again.

  17. On behalf of the Anarcho Primitivist Alliance of Orbis , I would like to congratulate our secret agent Alex for successfully ridding the world of both money and production in one swift action. Now we can all live in peace until the ripe old age of 26 like nature intended. Anyone trying to return us to the old evils of civilization will be met with our overwhelming righteous fury. We stand ready to meet our foes with rocks and slightly sharper rocks.

  18. Problem: Nukes should feel more impactful. They destroy a good amount of infra, but in wars infra is not nearly as important as the improvements that they helped support. Destroying 2 improvements is a slap on the wrist and does not reflect the true devastation of a real nuke. Solution: Nukes destroy 90% of a city's improvements, 90% of the infrastructure, and completely disables the city (improvements and income). To bring a city back online, the nation must invest in Radiation Cleanup. Radiation Cleanup requires a variety of resources like lead, gas, food, and cash. The cost varies based on the number of cities that the nation has. The radiation is too intense for cleanup efforts for the first 10 days after being nuked. Nothing may be done to the city until Radiation Cleanup is completed (no buying infra, land, improvements, etc.) While the city is irradiated, it contributes nothing to the nation score. Balance Thoughts: There have been concerns that nukes do not feel significant enough in this game. Some people were recommending that nukes should destroy (delete) a city and this would be the next best thing. Some people have been asking to delete cities. Presumably this is so that they can drop down and participate in the war grinder or find better raid targets. Rather than deleting their city, they could just leave a nuked city to its green glow indefinitely. This also addresses concerns about wars lasting entirely too long. If a nation gets nuked, their fighting capability is seriously diminished since they no longer have access to that city's improvement contributions. Additionally, the cost of Radiation Cleanup could help burn through nation/alliance war chests more quickly to facilitate a swift resolution of the war. A nation could have a bunch of irradiated cities, declare on someone, and then pay for Radiation Cleanup for all their cities suddenly boosting their score. While this could be done, it would be incredibly expensive and not worth it unless someone just really wanted to fight that person who is normally out of range. Larger nations may be able to shrug off a nuked city more easily than smaller nations since they contribute a smaller amount to their overall military and resource production. However, the cost of restoring the nuked city will be much higher for the larger nation since Radiation Cleanup varies based on the number of cities. They will also find themselves more easily pulled down into the grinder as their NS decreases due to the 0 NS contribution of their nuked city. This style of nuke may be viewed as overpowered, but really nukes SHOULD be overpowered. However, the cost of nukes may need to be increased to reflect their new destructive force.

  21. Naw, what I'd personally prefer is that the city score remain 100 but the military unit scores get reverted. They can always be readjusted if needs be, but the city score thing wasn't a bad in and of itself.

  23. I never said it wasn't a thing. I said that changes like these would make that the go-to strategy. And why that would be a bad idea. The latter is counter intuitive yes, but there's no better alternative if we're to be frank. Changing it would either require removing beige so to incentivize defeating foes, which leads to a far worse situation (nigh impossibility to rebound), which would be a case of the cure being worse than the disease; the alternative is some convoluted system (such as the one where winning led to having a higher army cap but lower recruitment rate, and vice versa), which I don't trust Alex to be able to implement without inadvertently adding a ton of bugs, and which I don't trust him to know how to tweak properly (especially if the last update is anything to go by). Your proposal about nukes is less so a step in the right direction (which it isn't, due to reasons I elaborated in two different posts, and you largely ignored), and more so going from 0 to 100. No. They'd make for a better strategy than conventional because they'd be able to inflict far more damage (and more importantly, damage which can't be inflicted by them [that being disabling cities]) than conventional military would be able to, and would therefore make the latter obsolete. It'd require an absurd increase in the cost of the nukes for it to keep them from being mass utilized. As for the argument that knocking out cities would drop them to hit smaller people; for one thing, NRF would be a highly desirable project under such a context, and it'd lead to it being acquired a lot more throughout the tiers. Secondly, city count is irrelevant for the purposes of nuke turreting. Thirdly, if both sides are turreting, they'd be dragging each other down. As Hime elaborated, nukes have a valid role under the current meta. It's mainly a matter of people not realizing those other uses. Other than perhaps killing some extra improvements, they're in a fine position balance-wise, and don't really need any adjusting. Especially not to the extent you're suggesting.

  24. Thanks, I'll remove the nation.

  25. If your nation gets nuked 32 times, I kinda feel like you should be out of the game for a while. The cost associated with doing something like that is insane. So your 32 city nation is unable to make money for 11 days per nuke and oh no, maybe you lost a farm and a market. There's a reason that people consider nukes to be a loser's last ditch effort. Shouldn't a nuke cost more than a naval attack? Right now nukes are just super powered missiles. If people actually want to keep their wimpy nukes, then sure we could add different warheads to the nukes. The current nukes could be tactical nukes and then these improved nukes could by Tsar Bombs. I can't imagine why anyone would actually want to use the old style of nukes though.

  26. Let's be realistic here the effects of nuke pollution on a city is very limited at best. As that city has already lost most of its pop from losing its infra.

  27. No need to be hostile I'm looking at the income records, and it looks like you're generating $60,447.02 per turn (every 2 hours.) At 6PM game time, you produced $60,447.02 and had $215,262.01 Before that at 4PM game time, you produced $60,447.02 and had $154.814.99 Before that at 2PM game time, you produced $60,447.02 and had $94367.97 So, it all seems to be working properly to me. We had our ups and downs in our relations but I'm glad many of us got to know you and your gov over the years. You left leadership when TKR's position is stronger than its ever been. 44. Alliance executives, owners, reformers, analyst, proletariats, and members, (EDIT: This is an ad) To be frank, I love creating things such as fancy rosters, hierarchical structures, forum set-ups, databases, and etc. I believe these things could greatly benefit alliances that are beginning to implement guides, laws, taxes, rules, hierarchies, and are growing. These jobs aren't in demand or anything so I wouldn't charge an arm and a leg. I would just request that you pay me what you believe is fair and right. I really do enjoy working on things like this so, politely I ask, throw some big projects at me and give me the reign. It gives me something to do and it would only benefit your alliance. If you would like to inquiry on details or more explanation on what I do, I'd like to ask you message my nation via P&W and we organize how to communicate then. Support small nations, thank you guys for feeding my creative mindset. -P

  46. The Regiment (TR) -The Lost Gates- "This is it boys. The end of the line. Offload your bags here and wait for the gates to open." Shouts Simmons, Commander In Chief of The Regiment. He looks over his weary, war-torn band of soldiers with confidence as they offload all of their meager belongings. Mostly just the clothes they have on and guns, ammo and just a couple loaves of bread. They finished the last of the water 12 hours back. The submarine leaves almost as soon as the last bags were grabbed. As it rumbled away there was a scraping sound in the opposite direction, the gates were opening. Simmons turns to look and there are a group of Merman carrying water and food towards us. The supplies were distributed, and then the group started loading the baggage into a big, trident shaped ship. "Hello old friend!" Shouts Atlan, the Ocean Master of The Lost Empire (TLE) as he walks up to simmons. "I'm glad you made it safely, lets get inside so we can start the transition. Also, congrats on your campaign. It was a hard fought war and you guys gave it your all. You deserve every bit of luxury Atlantis has to offer." P.S. RIP The Regiment, may your deeds be remembered for years to come. Proud to have had yall as allies and I look forward to our future! The Regiment merges into The Lost Empire
