  1. With the conclusion of the Rose September elections, I am excited to announce our government for the next term: Sovereign: Dynamic Regent: Belisarius Ephor of State: Mhearl Ephor of Homeland: Fares Ephor of Defense: J.A. Goldington I would like to give a special thanks to Bopolo who is retiring from the Defense Department. He stepped up during the Ayyslamic Crusade and has dedicated countless hours to protecting Rose and keeping us safe. I would also like to thank J.A. Goldington who is now taking the lead in our Defense Department. I am grateful for his contributions to our State Department this last term. Rose would not be where it is today without his dedication. Lastly, I am excited to welcome Belisarius into the regent/second in command position. He’s been with Rose during the highs and lows, and it is such an honor to have him back in government. I look forward to working with our new team and continuing the mission of Rose: being a people and a purpose. Here’s to Rose, past, present, and future! Dynamic Sovereign of Rose

  2. Well, that depends really. On Taco Tuesdays it's good fun, the cafeteria food is great, everyone has a laugh, y'all know how it is. Then the rest of the week when you're forced to forge more steel for NPO's stockpiles or hunted by BK in the arena to determine the best candidates for mergers, it isn't as much fun. Really does build character though, or so I'm told. But hey, I've gotten distracted. Congrats on becoming even more bloated and functionally irrelevant GoB. All this time they told us GPA was dead, but really it's been here all along...

  3. I'm pretty sure their goal is precisely to get as far away as possible from the rest of the game in terms of city count, so they can save pixels in risky situations like world wars. Good thing they're buddies with TKR and Guardian, otherwise they'd be labeled as "an upper tier threat".

  12. Micros with little to no political sway or relevance have been making threads in Alliance Affairs for a long time. These micros tend to be quite powerless, and disband fairly quickly. It's annoying to see all their threads clog up Alliances Affairs. I don't think micros that are almost completely irrelevant should have their threads alongside the threads of powerful, relevant AAs such as The Syndicate, or Black Knights. Even a simple government change within the top 30 will have more impact on the game within a short period of time than what most micros accomplish their entire existence. Micro alliances should have their own subforum in Alliance Affairs. That way, the announcements of larger, more inpacting alliances can be easier to find and less clogged up with pointless threads. Micros can still make their announcements, of course, and even have the added benefit of not having to compete for attention over the announcements of larger alliances which overshadow them. As for what defines a micro, I think any alliance outside the top 45 is fairly reasonable. Maybe we can have a discussion on that. If Nation Affairs can have 3 subforums for... whatever reason, then I don't see why Alliance Affairs can't have a subforum to keep the irrelevant micro announcements from the announcements of fairly powerful alliances that'll still be around in 3 months. Counter arguments are welcome. Maybe I'm wrong about something. Maybe I'm not seeing a bigger picture. Let's have a discussion.

  13. Egyptian Empire DoE As Orbis twists and turns, sometimes the best way to plan for the future is to look to the lessons of the past. We prefer to take our lessons from the Pharaoh's of Ancient Egypt, ruling over a vast kingdom stretching across the harshest environment on Earth, from the Mediterranean to the head of the Sahara desert. The society was the most advanced of its time, with a world-class irrigation system, healthcare system, well-tooled army and lots of gardens for the nobles to relax with their harem. All were looked after, obviously aside from the slaves. The government of this Egyptian Empire will strive to govern with dignity, and to provide a home for nations looking to grow, in an individualised way, under a government that genuinely cares. Side note: we've been informed another alliance was Egyptian-themed: Duat. We're not Duat. To prove it, here's our CHARTER. Protected by Vanguard Bloc and Acadia Join our Discord Check us out in-game

  27. In that case, you must be looking down at a piece of parchment that lists the best micros on Orbis. I must admit that @Mad Max has a sphincter issue that causes him to defecate an awful lot. With that said, he is a solid leader that runs a great community. On top of it all he (and The Island) is a wonderful ally. Sometimes poop is fun. You just have to remember to check your shoes, in your case Jesus sandals, before putting them on. Your alliance is growing at a fast pace, be sure to make your moves carefully. You recently signed a Mutual Defense treaty with our protectorate and then go on to insult a close ally of ours. Curious to see what you do next. Perhaps there is hope for you to see the light. Stay Platinum Baby.

  33. Hrm. I've been thinking about this for a bit, and I'm going to have to make a few counter-arguments. First, defining a micro by top 45 is highly limiting; for a start you've got Arrgh sitting pretty right there in the 'micro' tier at #46*. And otherwise relevant alliances that get rolled might end up dropping below that threshold. Would threads about rolled alliances need to be moved by moderators or by an automatic script as necessary? That seems counterproductive to me, but what other options are there? We could extend the threshold downwards, but then the utility diminishes anyway. Second, what about protectorates? Or using micros as mercenaries? Bank alliances? Just because an alliance is tiny doesn't mean that they're not relevant to somebody, somehow. And even if the announcement doesn't have anything directly to do with a non-micro alliance, maybe it's sponsored by a big name or guaranteed or something. Heck, by that logic there's not a single announcement on the first page of Alliance Affairs right now that wouldn't belong there under your system, since all those micros have treaties or protectors in the top 45. Third, putting micro announcements into a containment board means that their announcements aren't given the same level of exposure as an established alliance. That's a problem on many levels, not the least of which is that their initial growth and their ability to escape the micro ghetto depends in large part on their visibility. Recruitment is hard enough for an alliance that can't say "we're literally #1 in this/that/otherthing so join us", so making it just that much worse for growing alliances isn't a good. Furthermore, what if they get dec'd on and rolled? Are they to ineffectually scream into an unobserved board about their plight? If they got hit by a large force then the argument can be made that the announcement is relevant by association to the larger force, but lacking either, then they're even less likely to escape the micro ghetto their low score has sentenced them to. I do realize that it really doesn't matter that much when tinyalliance renames themselves into microd*ck, and it's bothersome to have to check on the off chance that maybe it does, but implementing this suggestion would only cause more problems IMO... and honestly, it wouldn't even solve anything in the first place. *arguments about Arrgh being relevant these days or not are tangential to the point

  34. Having their own role doesnt automatically identify them as a friend. TCW and TKR discord have separate roles for KT but they were literally just in a war. KT, DB, and Rose discords just to name a few more also have separate roles for a variety of alliances. Meanwhile TEst just has roles for members and gov and one role for ex members and those not members. TGH's discord only has separate roles for alliances its treatied to or friendly with. Every discord server is done differently, the fact that TC has a separate role on yours means nothing to an observer when there is no consistent basis or understanding that only alliances considered friends have separate roles in the discords of alliances, since plenty don't operate that way. If that's all you've got for evidence, you may as well have none at all.

  35. Guys, there's no such thing as a fair fight. That doesn't even make sense. Even if you set it up so that there was no interference, and everyone started with exactly the same amount of everything, it comes down to RNG, internet speed, and the whims of fate. Warfare is about looking for the advantage, and taking it. If you're going to put in restrictions to prevent certain advantages from coming into play, then at some point you might as well flip an actual coin. If finding your advantage means calling in reinforcements from an unexpected angle, then that's a fair play. That is, as long as it isn't in violation of the agreements made prior to the practice/thunderdome/trial-by-champion/tournament/whatever, an NAP, or the game rules.

  36. How were they undermined by a lack of political understanding again? You look at the treaty web and Coalition is paperless. Having... what... three alliances counter them that have no confirmed solid ties to Coalition isn't a lack of political understanding. It's a lack of transparency from those "friendly" alliances, and it's one of the few things that the biggest bloc in the game stressed about (IQ talking about paperless ties and hence their consolidation and/or refusal to take chances elsewhere). The fact that none of you leaders from previous Syndisphere/EMC don't understand that is baffling, and we see what happens when people do take chances - they just simply get ripped apart. This is no better than TKR and Friends (+Guardian) tearing apart Nuke Bloc when they were already handled. If you're going to defend your "friends", have some sort of tie to represent it. So people know the consequences ahead of time, or perhaps it'll encourage them to actually pursue political banter before then. Only those of previous Syndisphere/EMC leadership know exactly what those past ties are (And still are). No one else does.

  38. Hello there, Oblivion members. You were plainly not incompetent in-game, despite what your communication skills on this forum and the main PnW Discord server might otherwise suggest. I saw you make intelligent decisions about not wasting resources on a fight you felt you couldn't win; I saw you protect your bank, as none of us pulled much loot out of y'all. I saw none of you had wasted money going above 2,000 infra on any cities. I saw your national damage ratios, and they were mostly comparable to what the average Syndicate veteran would have. Most notably, I saw virtually every single one of you log in within 10 minutes of being struck by us, which almost no alliance would match. So to credit those things- nice work. Instead, you were undermined by a lack of political understanding. I feel like you don't seem to be connecting the dots, so I've gotten my crayons out to put a few paragraphs on the walls. When you first-strike an unaware and unprepared enemy alliance, you usually win. In fact, you have to do a piss poor job to screw it up. The military advantages of even a double buy over absolutely nothing are usually nearly insurmountable. You'll notice that this is why you got off to such a roaring start over tC. To flip that on it's head, and to continue my point, you yourself felt you were struck unaware (and underprepared at best- all of you were vulnerable on your jets counts) when The Syndicate entered to defend our friends in tC. For context, none of us who hit you had more than about 45 minutes of notice that we were going to war, and we attacked with just a single-buy of units. We attacked with 18-19 hours remaining before our next possible unit purchase; even a full hour before the next tick was coming. We did these incredibly lazy things because we knew we'd be able to get away with it. As expected, you folded on the first strike; none of your nations even made it to the next possible rebuy. Again, not an issue with your competence; it's just how this game works. Hell, look at how the Hogwarts/Inquisition fight went. 20 of us caused a bloodbath against, even in our own tiers, a much larger group of nations who simply weren't expecting or prepared for the strike. 20 guys. That's the 10 of you guys who'd gone in with a plan, and 10 of us t$ guys active enough to respond with 45 minutes notice, and if we'd all worked together and attacked INQ with full military builds, we'd probably go a long way to repeating that feat. You complain, because you felt like you had a "fair" war going on with tC; without realising that attacking an alliance that is not expecting or prepared for you is almost never a fair fight, unless you are attacking utterly overwhelming odds. If you wanted a fair fight and a proper test of your skills, you should have contacted tC and offered them a challenge, where both parties pick an exact starting date and time for hostilities to commence equally both ways. They might have even accepted the offer, and you would have then been able to conduct a war that would not have seen external interference. If you'd done that, you wouldn't have been kerb-stomped by a handful of guys who were pinged on Discord and replied with "eh, why not".

  39. No one is saying you can't hit them. Just don't expect to not get made fun of and called out when you brag about how badly a nation with 5+ cities is beating another nation in a 5v1. It's pathetic.

  42. @Bollocks a few things 1 frick you 2 can you please supply evidence of us crying about getting rolled? because every recation ive seen was something on the lines of "we are due a roll" we understand war aint fair, if war was fair noone would have to fight us 3 yes, we know, thats why we did it what the frick is your point 4 what the frick, you dont have "great friends" they supplied like 10 nations out of like 150 possible, they arent any better at war then you they just had greedy players who wanted a few mil loot. 5 what research would u suggest us doing? our research told us to roll you guys because you had shittons of loot and because you were paperless we gambled that the counters would come in day 2, where we wouldve fricked you guys still. 6 you know yours talking out your ass when kastor is defending us, this man hates us 7 we arent salty we got rolled, just salty at your attitudes to rolling us

  43. I mean there’s a difference between 12 v 8 and 185 v 12. I think the issue is, you’re more gloating about beating up Oblivion rather than actually beating them up. Which is a bit pathetic. You SHOULD win.
