  1. When Pre came to me and asked: "Hey, would you like to do even more thankless work and become the one who has the deal with each and every dumpster fire that comes TEst's way, thereby taking full responsibility for everything that goes wrong with the alliance?", my immediate response was: "Oh boy, would I!!. Don't worry though. Even though Pre no longer has any gov role, he's offered to make OWF announcements, which is good coz I suck at it. Pre will keep his leadership duties till the end of the current war, peace talks included. However, after that he'll become a grunt like he wanted. Pre has managed to accomplish his goal which made him return to this game we all still play for some reason. We thank him for his services and his toes. As for the new gov structure, Mayor is now Primarch. Please join me in congratulating him for losing the freedom that comes with being a regular member, to do stuff he probably won't enjoy most of the time. Bambino will retain his current duties and Odin will remain that guy we force to do econ, which as we all know is a lot of fun. Sorry to have distracted you from all the carnage and the smell of burning pixels. Blood for the Blood God Skulls for the Skull Throne Khorne for the Khorne Flakes

  2. So the present system is a three rank system of Leader/Heir/Member Title. While it's great, I was wondering if there could be a means to edit those titles to include subtitles, or unique member titles. While its mostly cosmetic in nature, it would be interesting to be allowed to customise our own member ranks and the like from an overall alliance point of view. Moreover, in larger alliances, having different titles is quite common, and this just allows for greater alliance customisation and the like. The folks who can do this of course will be the Officers or those given the rights by the alliance leader/leaders. Also I was wondering with this addition, if you could also add individual officer masks, rather than across the board? It makes it difficult to have a set of folks at the same rank having the same access, when they could be different departments and the like, so it'd just make things easier if that could be added? This would work better with having greater control of the titles/ranks/powers. Thanks for considering the suggestion!

  5. Snapshots of History - PnW Edition This following photo is one of the few which depicts the first meeting between the "Big Three", the coalition leaders who came together in the fight to free the whale tier from the grips of EMC. Shortly after it was taken, hundreds of nations embarked on a massive blitz into TKR's vaunted "Fortress Upper Tier" to establish the first beachheads of the war.

  6. Yeah, this is my sentiment. I don't think this nation map is going to ruin anyone's life or scar any children.

  7. First off, I’ll be hosting the awards again this year. It’ll be a good occasion as usual. However I’m trying to spice it up this year. I’m trying to add new categories and make it more of a presentation this year so here we go for ideas: 1. Instead of public voting, we do secret ones that are counted by multiple people, so there’s no way of rigging the vote. 2. Instead of the usual public view of awards, we hold a radio show(Kev and Charlie will hopefully help out), and the show is where the Awards are announced and people can actually get up and say a few words about their awards(we’ll try to pick a neutral time and get the top 3 to join, for alliance awards-they can send any gov member). 3. An establishment of a “Hall of Fame” voting. I’m not sure how we’ll add it, because I definitely don’t want that turning into a popularity contest. However it’ll be 2 a year voted on by the Community. 4. Most categories- post them below! Any ideas are welcome! Nominations will open December 15th and stay open until January 1st. This gives you 17 days to nominate anyone starting then. This thread is to garner interest in “spicing it up” If you wish for everything to remain normal, say that so we’ll know. Anyone wishing to work with us this year shoot my a message on Discord or message me in-game.

  8. That's what I was told... ... but I am trusting you all, so I unlocked the thread, since there were quite a few members that wanted to continue the original discussion. In case you see new actions of flaming/derailing, etc. please let us know by reporting the corresponding posts or messaging me.

  10. I don't see what the argument about vote rigging is. Unless you pull some weird shit where you have a set number of reps from each alliance vote, a direct democratic vote is always going to lean in the direction of alliances with more members who are active. The votes have never been unbiased or reflective of reality, which is why no one should really put any stock into them anyway. Its also why sheepy shouldn't make ingame awards for them. They are just a novelty sideshow for the community to focus on for a few weeks at the end of the year. Just do it with a forum poll that is public so people can see who voted for what, and people will determine how biased the outcome is on their own and whether they should pay attention to it.

  11. Recently in the war, the sphere once known as Radiantsphere, lead by the Knights Radiant, has changed. They have reformed into the new, Nerdsphere, lead by the Nerds Radiant. In response to this, the coalition has also reformed, into the Chad Coalition, lead by Terminus Chad. Now, i understand this change is sudden, and many of you may be confused as to what the new sides really are. I, Akuryo, have made this handy diagram to inform you.

  15. Hmm yeah I see why you'll want Pre to make announcements still... Nah! Best of luck INH. I think the ideal is the old guard getting the Hell out of the way, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with Test. Try to do as good a job for your members as UPN did for you. Uhhh just try to do a good job.

  16. I for one believe that these are great ideas and don't understand why people are complaining about "rigging"... You all act like there aren't elites who decided everything for us every day, hell the only people who win these awards are elites. ELITES ALWAYS GET THE FINAL SAY!

  19. @Kastor I appreciate that you're going out of your way to do a community service. I don't care about the implications, as any vote is going to be rigged to the people that are at a disadvantage. I'm happy that you're making an effort to do something fun for the community, kill em bro.

  21. I would gladly help out but I know it's gonna end up being a popularity contest like every other year. Even if you don't count votes for oneself or for one's alliance, their allies are gonna do it anyways. Good luck tho.

  23. I know GOB is new to this whole war thing, but the losing side typically has more fun. Well, as much fun as can be had in sheepy’s horrible design. There’s more slots, more to do, plenty of small targets to jump on once your been knocked down. I think I saw memph with 29 cities declaring on someone around 10. Had you spent time playing the game rather than hiding from it and hiding behind other alliances, you would have learned this long ago.

  26. Right now, both Nukes and Missiles are, strategically, pointless. They serve as either a two fingered salute on the way down after you've already lost the fight, or as a bling item. As a 22 city nation, I've been struck by 18 nuclear weapons and quite a few missiles this war, and I've really only just started to be modestly hamstrung by it because I've fallen below 25% of my starting infra. It is absolutely daft that I remain one of the greatest damage dealing members of my coalition, and not a radioactive wasteland. Here's my thoughts on what they could be instead. New Nuclear Weapons, Suggestion A Cost: 3 MAP, down from 12 Resistance Damage: 8-12, down from 25 Effects: Exactly as current, simply giving them a resistance damage and MAP cut so you can use more of them. Resistance damage to be set based on whether or not nuclear weapon use should be as effective as ground/air/navy for outright winning wars as fast as possible. New Nuclear Weapons, Suggestion B Cost: 12 MAP, as current Resistance Damage: 25 MAP, as current Effects: The city that is hit by a nuclear weapon should be totally out of commission. Somewhere between 70% and 100% of military units hosted in the city should be destroyed (roll a D31 and add 69). It should either 1; be completely unusable until the radioactive fallout has cleared, therefore providing no military capacity or resource production, or 2; see a much, much larger percentage of city improvements destroyed (we're talking half-ish). New Missiles Cost: 2 MAP, down from 8 Resistance Damage: 5, down from 18 Upkeep costs: Less Daily purchase limit: Definitely more than just one. Effects: Destroys targeted improvements by category the way it currently does, but with either no infra or only 50 infra (i.e. the amount of infra required for each improvement on your nation). Useful for chipping away at the military capacity of a nation, but won't win you the war in a straight race over ground/air/naval assaults. To be considered as an option vs nuclear weapons, they should also be very cheap to stockpile and stockpile at a rate of greater than 1 per day; perhaps they should require no Missile Launch Pad to purchase, but the Pad increases the daily purchase limit.

  27. .:Classified:. The Sri Lankan airforce would be rendered immobile within the initial stages of the conflict, while their aerial defenses would be eliminated on the eastern section of the island. As the Collective Pilots rushed over towards the western aerial defenses, they would begin to encounter heavy resistance, and were ordered to withdraw, while missiles would be fired at the existing defenses to weaken them. Until the, the Collective airforce would continue to operate in the eastern section of the island with impunity. With the command structure for the Sri Lankan military decimated, local officers would begin taking command. While this allowed for the surviving martial forces to continue their fight, it proved to ensure a lack of a united strategic goal, opening the door for the Collective's forces to overwhelm existing forces. With the politicians taking charge of the military command, 8,000 of the sri lankan forces deployed to the western cities were to be redeployed to protect the capital of Kandy. As the forces withdrew, the undead that had begun to be put under control, were once again overwhelming the existing forces. Lacking the manpower and resources, the soldiers remaining in the cities began a mandatory evacuation towards the outskirts of Kandy. "If we bring the civilians to the outskirts of the capital, the government will be forced to send us troops to deal with the issue, rather than continue to ignore it." A colonel explained to his subordinates. "This is probably the only way they're going to send us the reinforcements that we need to save these people. Those too obstinate to come with us, will be left to fend for themselves. I will not continue to waste lives on people that have no regard for their own." "Of course, sir... But what about the Collective?" A lieutenant probed the man. "We need to focus on one threat at a time. Their entire basis for being here is to purge this infection. If we remove their reason, then they will be forced to withdraw or face the world's ire. Additionally, if we can't even protect our people, we do not deserve to have a nation" The colonel told them, a resolute expression on his face. Meanwhile, the city of Botticaloa was officially taken over by Collective forces, with the final sri lankan soldiers having retreated, or died during the siege of the City Hall, where the last 300 Sri Lankan soldiers bunkered down. The siege for the building itself lasted for just over 31 hours, and saw the death of 21 magic knights and 12 sentinels.

  28. The polls will be completely transparent and public information after the awards are distributed. You'll be able to validate and check to your hearts' content; poll each individual voter if you want and ask if their vote was registered properly. Any rigging would be completely visible. The fact of the matter is that secret ballots are held for these things all the time, the reason being to preserve the suspense for the awards show. You can trust this as much or more than you can trust the Nobel prizes or the Academy awards; they do it this way too. Or you could volunteer to work alongside Kastor to ensure that the vote is up to your own standards of integrity. I might do that myself

  29. Wouldn't that just make the public unaware... I mean, if there's five people counting the votes, all of whom I'll guess that you know, wouldn't they rig it if it was for a "good" cause for you? Not saying you would, but public voting would be nice.

  36. Summary of Nov. 7th and 8th Updates Added leaderboard page. The nations tab can be filtered by various ranges of cities to only show the relevant nations. (Will eventually add other categories such as nukes taken, defensive wars, offensive wars, etc.) Similar leaderboard statistics have been added to individual alliance pages under the "Leaderboard" heading there. Fixed an issue with totaling damages when one side has yet to retaliate. Fixed incomplete page output on first day of war involvement. Forced time graph tooltips to match game timezone. Fixed.

  37. This game is functionally just a cycle of war and peace anyways. You fight in war for a few weeks, and eventually the excitement from it starts to wear out a bit, then you have to peace and keep yourself occupied with rebuilding your warchest and nation. Then the boredom sets in again when you have to wait six months for the next global war to happen.

  40. Come now, that is clearly half of a cartoon dog bone. https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=12072 is shaped like a Lirpa, and my nation is obviously a deflated balloon. No shape is any more vulgar than the observer chooses to assume they are. Technically any straight line is phallic and all circles are essentially yonic, after all. (I'm posting in my own defense since my nation may be considered borderline.)

  41. I think you misunderstood an observation on ramifications of the political framework in which The $yndicate operated pre-split for a specific dig at you. If anything,. I'll bite though :). As I understand, from my predecessors, t$ was indeed set to join that war but with different motivations than you. If you recall, there was a leak which featured a nuke bloc representative prodding to see if they could get away with a hit on The $yndicate. That would have been The $yndicate's CB. I do not recall that to have been cited as yours. There is a distinction between removing dissenting factors and moving to safeguard your own security. With regards to acknowledgement however, I never claimed The $yndicate to be innocent of perpetuating the political dynamic of the past year. I did provide an account on how and why we ended up perpetuating it. The point which was being made was that the particular combination of bipolarity and tier consolidation had a restrictive effect on The $yndicate's (and I daresay, others') ability to fulfill its stated desires. Hence why it was relevant to provide that information as a background to our moves. Our potential involvement for very different reasons in one skirmish cited as anecdotal evidence is much less relevant to the broader point being made and was therefore left out. I do not believe your alliance's objective to have been the systematic removal of dissenting factors at all. But you were one of two actors locked in a cold war and and that rivalry overshadowed the remaining spheres. Was it the objective? I very much doubt it. Did it occur nonetheless as a result of natural tendencies? Yes. On both sides.

  42. Happy Halloween everyone! The result from our First P&W Pumpkin Carving Contest are in! I think this was a great and fun opportunity, and I think we'll plan on doing it next year as well. As laid out in the announcement post, there was ~1 week to carve and submit a pumpkin, ~3 days to vote, and now we are announced the winners determined by the P&W community. But before I announce the official winners, I do want to want to give an honorable mention to my personal favorite pumpkin, submitted by @wilczkor, It wasn't part of the contest, but I'm going to give you 6 months of free VIP on me. Now, onto the official winners, and their prizes! Here's the lineup: Our first place winner was @Arch who will receive the grand prize of 30 Credits for their nation (~$121 USD value.) Our second place winner was @Samwise who will receive the second place prize of 10 Credits for their nation (~$43 USD value.) Our third place winner was @GoldyHammer who will receive the third place prize of 1 year of free VIP subscription for their nation (~$27 USD value.) All of the winners have also received a special Nation Award, listed on their nation pages. Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to everyone who submitted a pumpkin and entered the contest! I hope we'll have even more participation next year. Lastly, I do want to acknowledge that the official poll did close 6 hours after 12AM Oct 31 server time. While I think it was generally expected to close at 12AM Oct 31 server time, it was never officially announced as such anywhere, and in the poll thread I stated In case anyone is curious, the forum apparently adjusts times to your timezone. So when I set the poll to close at 12AM Oct 31, it did so for the Central Standard Time zone. This information was available on the poll itself, and available for everyone (converted to their own time zone, even.) So, while I understand that due to this common misconception there was some belief that Samwise should have won the contest (and in my opinion, his is a better carving) but these official results are on the up-and-up. Once again, congratulations to our winners!

  44. I'd disagree. All alliances are alliances. If you're upset with their announcements, use in-game means to handle it. Stop running to Alex to fix all your "problems" Thalmor. You could easily have ET hit all these plebs and issue a "No OWF" directive. Since this can be solved with in-game actions, no.
