  2. New and smaller alliances should be targeted though. We have far too many of them hogging up the incoming member base and then losing these newer members to inactivity due to the smaller AAs having little sense of community to keep the newer players active and engaged. We have currently 369 AAs ingame, 250ish have likely less than a dozen members, and once we discount banks and micro raiders, a good 150 of these AAs are just open fodder without the knowledge and protection offered by the larger AAs. And rightfully so A larger threat posed by raiders will force these newer players into the larger AAs which will in turn force new talent into these alliances' govs leading to a turnover in government faces. It's probably one of the main reasons why most of the major alliances have had largely the same gov lineups for years, simply because it's easier to just break away and form your own micro, and remain attached to the parent AA via a protectorate agreement, than it is to actively seek greater influence within the parent alliance. Plus, if you buff raiders, the larger alliances can likely be subjected to raids all the same too 👍

  3. I’ve been thinking a lot lately, there is no real incentive for war in this game at this point. All of our reasons for war have been OOC based. I believe this stems from all major alliances adopting the same policies(no raiding top 50, switching to color, maintaining peace, etc) There are no mechanics for the game to successfully bring out war by itself. To negative those who would come into this thread and say “to keep your enemies from growing to fast, to stop a whale-tier alliance like Grumpy from dominating a tier” when have we, as players, consistently and fundamental used that without ulterior motives being at play? All in all, the game needs more features that would force or give reasons for alliances to go to war. Something needs a buff, or resources need a cap or to expire over time through degradation or something, to make alliances feel urged to do things. what were other’s thoughts on this matter?

  18. Well it would not circumvent upkeep cost, it would only move them. This is hwoever a good reason to remove protection for traded nukes (being able to be insta destroyed) You would not be able to do the last example you listed, because people would be incentivised to blockade you. Someone really does not like being nuked Yeah i did not remember this post. It is interesting, I am not sure how good it would work for every type of unit, but it is interesting.

  20. Wait until you are NPO. The game as a whole shouldn't be forced to join Rose because of a bad mechanic. P.S. For the record, that has happened before. All the players in the game were Rose.

  24. this would cause a couple issues, like moving nukes around in an alliance when an operator with a large stockpile has gotten his spies wiped, and it being essentially a way to circumvent military build reset and military upkeep cost of maintaining a large stockpile. you could have 0 nukes declare on 6 people, get 3 counters and then when your MAPs hit 12 on all wars, buy 9 nukes and nuke all of them with them having no way to stop you.

  25. With all this guaranteed improvement destruction, the tactician/guardian policies will probably need a rework. The possibility of destroying an improvement from a ground or naval attack will probably feel almost insignificant and become obsolete as an attrition method vs nukes/missiles/bombardment.

  29. Meh. It's a dirt cheap project, and unless if you literally just got it or it's always failed you since acquiring it, it's more than likely to have paid back and then some. Also, one of the proposed changes is for missiles to destroy 2 imps and for ID to halve that, so there's that. RNG (which is ultimately what 'surprise' is) is a fairly lazy method to add a variable, and such variable is more often than not just frustrating. It's also hardly a 'surprise' when every other shot is statistically set to not land.

  33. I agree with you, but Treasures *were* way more powerful in the past. Instead of war, we just got collusion where everyone teamed up to reap the bonus and it was way OP. I like the discussion here, and I'm open to new ideas on this as I agree, it is a bit of an issue. In the past, I had pitched a system for "Control Points" which were kind of like bounties. They were an in-game mechanic where each nation has an amount of Control Points (starts with 0) and over time, when you are at peace, your Control Points increase. Control Points themselves offer some sort of a bonus to your nation. When you defeat another nation in war, you take their control points (or perhaps some portion.) The result is that over time, nations that stay at relative peace build up a large swath of these Control Points that make them juicier and juicier targets for other nations. The difficulty with anything like this though is figuring out how to balance things and prevent people from abusing the system.

  34. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war... wait, did I mix up my themes again? It's been almost a year since the KT we all know and love has been around to make our mark on this game which always turns out to be so boring without us. I'm sure we've been missed by many, while even more breathed a sigh of relief that we were gone. Not anymore! Did TITFAP decide to dogpile us because a single member raided them, or did they decide to dogpile us because TI's fragile ego couldn't handle being called a "shit bloated micro"? Doesn't much matter, the perfect outcome was achieved either way. So I'll skip all the e-lawyering that pixel/paper/peace enjoyers so love to do, and jump straight to expressing my sincere gratitude. Thanks to TITFAP, KT is officially out of the NAP! Rejoice and praise the Lord! Apparently TITFAP framed their DoW as a RoH, so I suppose a DoW is needed in order for the world to make sense again. KT hereby declares war on all of TITFAP, whoever that includes. Probably a lot of great targets. tldr: KT is back, enjoy the ride!

  39. So your original raid wasn't a NAP violation but one late counter is? Nice logic. And if we'd tried to cycle the guy you'd count each of them as a new war and counter each of them and he'd keep coming back for more - he did come back for more, so here we are. We even offered to just peace all those previous wars and walk away but you wanted "a training exercise" for your members. You purposely refused to try to peace the raids today and tried to justify that you can attack any of our members if you deem them appropriate to do so. You wanted this war.

  42. What you're describing (bounties being used to transfer cash to someone blockaded) was the reason that you restricted bounty payouts to wars that started after the bounties were posted, as I recall. (Which was fair, for exactly those reasons.) Besides, bounties are only about the 3rd best way to send cash across blockades, and one of the other two is credits. So, bruh. I've suggested it before, but I'll give it another shot here: Instead of being a binary "win while unblockaded to get bounty, otherwise no bounty at all", allow bounties to remain in their phantom escrow state but "claimed" by whoever first accomplishes the bounty criteria, payable as soon as they break their blockade. That way, people aren't frustrated by investing their resources into a bounty hunt, only to get shafted by a wholly undocumented mechanic. Thinking about it, perhaps you could also encourage warfare by implementing "natural bounties"... like, every nation gets a little bit of bounty added to them every day, based on their city count. It wouldn't be enough to warrant attacks often, but someone with 40 cities avoiding wars for 3 years straight would start to look really tasty... :3

  43. See, this is why I went to South America at the start and stayed there forever: You can domestically produce aircraft, soldiers and missiles, and use them, without relying on imports whatsoever. Africa can build nuclear weapons domestically, but that's it. Europe and North America can produce tanks and ships domestically, but cannot produce the resources necessary to actually use them in combat. Everyone can produce and use soldiers, but without lead and therefore munitions they won't fight as well as they ought to. Still works surprisingly efficiently, however. Even still, though, there's almost no reason to actually attempt to be an autarky. The main reason is to mitigate the problems of being under constant blockade, but if you just join an alliance (and don't cheese people off to an overwhelmingly insane degree), then you're not going to have that level of enmity brought to bear against you (at least not permanently). Thus, just produce the stuff you can produce, then sell whatever of that you don't need and with those proceeds purchase whatever you need that you cannot produce. Now, you are in Europe, so you're able to produce coal, iron, lead and food. That means in terms of useful resources, you can power yourself using coal (try to stick to multiples of 500 infrastructure, that 550 isn't doing you any favors really), and you can produce steel and munitions. That said, your nation is too tiny and doesn't have the foundational projects needed to actually produce steel, munitions or food on a competitive level. Bigger nations produce way more food per farm especially, and literally everyone can produce food (outside of apocalyptic scenarios that happen every other year or so), which means that the market is saturated and food is always going to be affordable and efficient to import. Thing is, while larger and older nations have more productive factories, they also have a greater demand for resources than they can usually support domestically. Lead especially is something that major munitions producers always have to import if they want to produce at their fullest potential, and munitions are always needed for all forms of warfare (outside of similarly apocalyptic scenarios, but don't worry about those), so lead is always a winner in terms of an export resource. Oil not so much, since major gasoline producers (like myself) are capable of running 100% efficiency off their own oil wells. I'm not entirely sure about the coal and iron markets, but basically: lead. Lead lead lead. Lead is money, it never isn't. Perhaps more to the point, though: join an alliance, bub! It's theoretically possible to survive on your lonesome, but these days it just isn't reasonable.

  45. As mentioned in other threads throughout the years, and even drawn up by Alex, a black market where you can purchase military units would be beneficial to the game. A black market would add new strategies and activities. 1. You can sell units on the black market just like you can any other resource 2. Black market transactions are private, a new spy option would be added so you can uncover who nation's are purchasing from. 3. This would be a sink for resources. Instead of selling raw steel or aluminum sell your planes or tanks that you make with your resources. 4. This would make alliance wars have less warning in the buildup. Instead of taking a few days to build to max military you can purchase max military overnight. 5. In addition, with the new tiering requirements for war with the score changes, allies out of range can support you by selling units rather than actually fighting the war themselves. 6. You cannot buy more than the max you are already allowed to have and the manufacturing rates of units stay the same, if you sell units you lose them and have to remake them to keep your own military strong. Please feel free to add your own additions to this idea or critique what I have said, I might not have thought of everything.
