  1. My fellow Orbisians, I won’t sugarcoat it. Recent events over the past year have shown the utter lack of security that alliances have for their own banks. The elite and powerful cannot and will not be able to safeguard your own interests and, more importantly, your hard-taxed boot- er, incomes. As such, we are officially petitioning the leaders of the world to make a run on their respective alliance banks and hold every bit of their incomes on their nations. Truly your money is much safer in your own hands. Thank you for your time. PS- maximize income by deleting military.

  3. Several months ago I began development on a personal tool called Ferret, a web application which can be used to estimate nation revenue and resource production. This was loosely based on an old project I never finished. It periodically scrapes the API for data about each active nation in the game, then provides a web interface for viewing it and simulating changes. For several reasons, I never finished it, and it has not been updated for quite some time now. Since I don't really have further interest in developing it, I am releasing the code to the public, in the hope that it can be of use to someone. You can see an example of its output for my nation in the attached screenshot. Source: https://github.com/Lyrositor/pnw-ferret License: CC0 1.0 Universal - Basically, do whatever you want with it. You don't need to provide attribution or get permission to use it. Demo website: http://lyros.net/ferret/ Important notes: Ferret is out of date. There have been several updates to P&W since it was last updated, so some values are now very inaccurate. It is not 100% accurate. For reasons I never fully figured out, nation revenue is off, even when accounting for things like radiation/seasons/etc. (which Ferret does not currently take into account on its own). I am releasing this as is, with no additional instructions. I can try to answer questions if you have any, but if you want to set it up yourself and run it, you're mostly on your own. To anyone familiar with Python and Vue.js, however, it should be pretty straightforward. Most of the code that probably interests you is in the "ferret.pnw" package. This is the package responsible for calculating all the P&W formulas. Feel free to gut it for your own projects. Recently, there appear to be some issues with the API data. Some entries are not getting parsed correctly as a result. I haven't investigated it yet. The permission/authentication system is a legacy of my old plans for this. Now that it's open source, anyone can use it, so the whole thing could be stripped out for simplicity's sake. I may do this at some point if there is some interest. If people are interested in this enough, I may go back to work on it, but right now I have no further development plans for it. Cheers.

  4. This just devalues coordination and makes alliances' much weaker, if your being attacked by three people, then you should get your allies and alliance members to assist.

  6. Considering your alliance, i wonder why you're surprised you get raided. I raided your leader and not only did he not do a thing about it, he didn't even try to invoke any treaties to do anything about it. I'm not sure what big alliance you were in, wherein you got attacked and they didn't protect you, i'm guessing they weren't so big. Even smaller alliances do that. Even MY alliance does that, infact i'm often the person that dispatches them to do so. So i'm really not sure where you're getting this narrative from, any respectable alliance will protect it's members, and most alliances in the top 50 fall under that category. I think Arrgh may be the only exception, they only sometimes counter. If they feel like it.

  12. I've heard quite a bit from both sides, and I think it's important to note that there is a distinction you're not making here; those aforementioned "former Panth gov" nations were not members of TCW at the time, and there is no evidence of collusion on the part of tCW gov with regards to the bank heist or the deletion of discord channels. While I don't find those two's actions legitimately grounded nor condone them, so far, Pantheon's former government hasn't conveniently left out any information and hasn't publicly slandered Pantheon's (current) government; I think it's pretty easy to see where the lies are sitting. You and your government, on the other hand, have repeatedly lied to myself and the Orbis community as a whole, conveniently left out the part where Felkey returned what he(?) could, falsely assumed - and declared - that tCW was behind the personally motivated actions of some former Pantheon gov members, and constructed slanderous lies designed to undermine Yui, which, frankly, paints yourself in a bad light. Regardless of whether you personally did these things or your government did; you're all part of one team, and I don't think anyone should - or will - be trusting you guys for a while after this. By the way, couldn't you have given us more contextual screenshots concerning the gov chat, and better screenshots concerning the felkey-jeric chat?

I had the pleasure of dealing with Yui during that rough time for Pantheon, and there have been few people to earn my respect quicker than Yui. If anyone is needed to lead Pantheon, it's Yui.

  17. None Exactly as she said, if your alliance isn't helping you in any way, by countering, or buffing you up to where you can take out the raider yourself or calling in some allies or mercs, then the problem isn't the game the problem is your alliance or you.

  20. First and foremost, no. Like Ukunaka said, you need to be coordinated and on point, with combat-ready nations quickly responding to attacks. You also need a smooth set of member scores such that there's always at least a few nations that are stronger than the average raider, ready to counter and thus deplete the raider's military. Remember, while the raid teams can do it to you... you can do it to them. Aggression must be rewarded, not discouraged; it's already discouraged enough politically. Second, what is even with that font, it is seriously putting me on tilt, never use it again

  26. It matters because New Panth and T$ have now not only posed insult and accusation to TCW, but even insult to TGH, and seem intent to keep prodding both. Furthermore, let the record show a single post in this drama filled scenario is more interesting than your entire life has ever been. We've seen train wrecks, but what we have here is an opportunity. Two trains, head on, big fireball, maybe one of them does a back flip through the air before smashing a residential area on landing. Make like the rest of the spectators, quite your tongue, and indulge in the refreshments set up for the show.

  27. Wasn't my plan at all, the fact you took a joke on face value is amusing as you should learn Australian's will shit post in discussions. Yes sometimes it may come back to bite us, but I had every intention of merging as I viewed it as the best option for a crumbling Pantheon that was begging to get rolled. You would have to be daft to think we wouldn't consult our membership. We were still hammering out the details at the time of the rather unfortunate leak. The plan for the merge was this: 1: I contacted Felkey about the merge 2 weeks ago we discussed some basics (Current situation of Pantheon, our problems, why I wanted to merge, groundwork for a plan and how it would be successful, etc). 2: Felkey and I introduced it to our respective governments. We discussed amongst ourselves possible gov sets ups (We agreed upon half ex-Pantheon/ half tCW. Then we discussed who to take with us etc) 3: We continued the discussions, until the leak ruined the plans, shut down by the arrival of you and your two ex-TKR co-conspirators buddies. 4: We planned once all details were finalised, our governments would've held a vote. (I know for a fact that Pantheon's government would vote for the merge), not sure about tCW (But I was told that they supported it as well). 5: Once approved by government, we would have brought our plan to the general membership of Pantheon for a vote. If approved by a majority of members we would commence the merge. I envisaged the merge completed within the month, with an AA of 120+ members, combined with the experience of some Pantheon and tCW gov, not only would that outrank TKR in score, but we would also be in a much better situation for Pantheon especially, as we had lost several long term members (Yui, most importantly) so it seemed only natural for Pantheon to merge into tCW. (Also keep in mind we already had several members in tCW, who had left in the months before, that only adds to the case that the merge seemed to be the right choice for us.) So yes Fist you were once leader of Pantheon. But you left many years ago, leaving us hanging during war. I would have wanted to stay in Pantheon, as I spent 2 years in this alliance. But I and many others recognised that things weren't working. A merge was a fresh start, a new beginning for us. But alas it was destroyed by people who may have thought they were valiant defenders of Pantheon against a supposed 'tyrannical' government. When in fact it was they themselves who were the tyrants, removing people who served in government for months, (myself including) and who before this incident had unshakable loyalty to the membership of Pantheon. I don't know what you've been telling the remnants of Pantheon, but for me to receive messages from people who I helped grow, through our finance programs. That I couped Pantheon and was a saboteur, quite honestly pisses me off. When you were the leader of Pantheon you used IRC, you didn't make the Discord server. For you to use the creation of Yui and others hard word to turn around and slander the deposed rightfully legitimate government of Pantheon is a low act. So yes I nuked the Discord and left it barren apart from the general chat. Not least because I didn't want my work to go to people slandering me. But more importantly I didn't want my friends work to be used in slandering them. I did it on behalf of others. So no Fist we didn't screw you over or coup anybody, you did. A great opportunity for Pantheon was thrown away because of someones arrogant pride, to echo the words of Vince McMahon, "Fist screwed Fist"

  28. Basically, what Alexio said. But, in case you didn't read Felkey's post properly, he said that he requested Jeric to "appoint themself as leader in game" - which is vastly different from stealing the bank and getting the hell out, and much more different than stealing the bank, getting the bank, and sending it to tCW. Was "Yui is a good person, and we recognize her contributions to Pantheon during her term of service. We also recognize that this is a difficult situation for her." supposed to be a band-aid? The truth is, the facts do speak for themselves. You've got a pretty bad history, and you've done some pretty sketchy stuff in literally the past three days. The truth speaks for itself indeed...

  29. FTFY Also you slandering the Shifty New Network®? I'll have you know that I don't think any FA head or P/W radioshow host can really capture the irreverence, the ADHD-infused zeitgeist of the P/W forums. Only the Shifty News Network® can do that. You can scoff, but has any work of art championed by mainstream media circles in the last 5 years attained even half the prestige, influence, and enduring popularity that of the Shifty News Network® continues to flaunt? Doubt it. I'm part of an Ivy League thinktank and my peers and I really do believe that the Shifty News Network® will one day be a fixture of the 21st century humanities. Nothing could be a more perfect relic of our time.

I have to say, Pantheon can disappear for all I care, it has been a dead alliance for quite a while now but Yui is one of the most liked and respected people in this silly assed game so slandering her is not going to earn you any kind of goodwill with most of Orbis. 37. My idea, Simply remove the Away/Home part of baseball. Just have a single option to play baseball. When you play baseball, it would make your team play the other team once in your home field, and once in their home field. Winners still take some more for winning. This would effectively be a built-in 50-50 system, also it would allow for everyone to play with everyone else without really getting salty about leeching. This is just my simple idea, if you disagree, tell me what you would like to change.

  40. What do you mean we aren't here to debate the embargo solution? Anything that is a *suggestion* is up for debate and feedback, just because you want to denounce it entirely, doesn't mean I can't try to convince you, if you choose to not debate it, that's pure ignorance. Also I don't recall the "different solution" you're referring so please inform me again so I can account for it and maybe reconsider my previous statements regarding the team embargo. If for the sake of compromise, 45/55 will appease you, I will agree to those terms, although I still disagree that winner should take majority. Abuse means to utilize something for anything other than its intended use. Baseball is intended to pass time while also creating a secondary source of income. If Flavee chooses to use his time playing baseball, that is still considered passing the time and within the grounds of its intended function. I would say that using a bot is both, cheating, and abuse; but not one nor the other.

  41. Just like player run banks, choosing who has access to your bank is entirely the player's choice - and there's risks with that. Especially so when there's THAT much money and resources on the line. (Also why was there so much in one place? Spread that dough out to keep risks minimal.)
    1 point
  42. While I'm still not super confident about whether growth is a key factor with retention, this will help to dig the newer players out of the "hole" they start in and be at least reasonably more self sufficient. Growth for the really new players has been a pretty large issue for awhile now, as it takes a huge investment on the part of the alliance to make them decently profitable, at a high risk, and that player is unlikely to be able to sustain themselves without that aid. This should help mitigate that issue.
    1 point
  43. I posted my thoughts in the other thread, but another option I could see helping new players would be to separate the Project and City Timer, that way friends/alliances can help establish new players quickly, and get them involved into the community of the game ASAP.

  44. Wait what? lol are you referring to me? I think there's been a misunderstanding (deliberate as pr or legitimately?) of something. If nothing else i've fought in every round of wars ive had (sometimes concentrating on one opponent or another). My guess tbh is that's referring to a comment I made when first hit (with no military build up since we werent expecting it) to someone in TGH who offered me peace for 10k resources. And I responded that no, I wouldnt pay tribute even if that meant I just had to sit there and endure a beating I didn't mind that. A sort of good natured, in good spirit "well this isnt going to be much fun for you, but hey guesse i'm a punching bag for a round" There wasnt much of a way to fight back in that first round since all the military was destroyed in one go, and my spies, and no nuke stockpile (and I had been blockaded and couldnt get any resources in to buy stuff). So yeah, i pretty much sat like a lump that first round other then i think a nuke or two. Not that any of that really matters or is germane, but very weird if you're trying to twist my comment into some sort of "ODN's leader said they wouldnt fight". I mean, clearly we are right? Including said leader? ::Shrugs:: I mean us and GH are at war (or war from odn perspective, 'eternal raid' from theirs heh). No reason to be insulting about it. As to SL's point. I dont have much of a problem with the war system being so slanted to the 'winning' side, but I think its important to give outlets or facets where you can be a winner even if caught by surprise or outnumbered. So say spies for example. Way too many destroyed in the 'attack spies' option. Way too hard to build up again (you essentially wont while the war lasts). Same with nukes if you dont have a big stockpile. OR really anything else. ::considers:: I suppose I would do one of three things. 1) Either make it possible so you can build back up fully after a round of losing wars. i.e maybe make beige last longer. That way if you keep beating me into the ground because you're bigger or better or better coordinated then me, that's fair. But at least there is a chance to go in 'fully geared' between rounds of war. 2) Bring the old fortify back. As someone up thread said, that lets you have a chance to make some better strategic choices and trade offs on the defensive. Or alternatively look at how resource pillaging works with this. How blockade works. Maybe allow resources to flow between a bank and a nation more freely (and maybe tweak the pillaging of a bank as a result?) so that once blockaded its not essentially a devil's choice between 'game over' or 'lose more resources then you do damage'. 3) Separate some of the mechanics somewhat. Make it possible (or easier) for example that you can lose a conventional war, but hold an edge in spy mechanics. Or nuke mechanics. Its not impossible now, but much harder. My two cents anyway.
