https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=1722&display=bank The great birds of The Terapin Federation have journeyed long and far on our quest to find the best memes or Orbis. Indeed, after such a long and arduous journey, some among us wondered if we would ever reach the end - the ultimate meme. Tired, we rested in a quiet spot, a peaceful guardian site. Wait, what is this? Money? And food too? Lying unattended, where anyone could take it. An unfortunate soul must've dropped it. Well, a stroke of luck! Our journey can continue, freshly fed and funded! Thank you, kind stranger, for your donation to the Build NG New Cities Fund!32 points

Now we all know politics can get heated in this game, but one thing I hope we all agree on is exploiting glitches for ones benefit is poor form and its just makes you look like a pleb. Of course not every Syndicate/Enterprise member has been doing it, but its seems to be far more common with t$/e$ than any other alliance, these are just 2 examples from my gov members but we have many more.. (Yes I am aware that some instances could be accidental but its obvious that some people are exploiting this) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/timeline/war=518155 https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/timeline/war=520090 Instead of suggesting nerfs to baseball why not focus on something that seems to be a chronic problem and is starting to be exploited by bad-actors to affect the outcome of wars? @Alex19 points

See, the problem with this is you're using their exploitation of a glitch as a political grab. What we should be doing reporting every instance of it so they get nation strikes.11 points

G'day all. I am reporting this nation: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=132794 Reason for reporting is his naval attacks, which I feel may have a pattern of cheating. If you'll see here... He's done it to me: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/timeline/war=520090 I want to point out that after naval attacking with the glitch 4 times at once, he decided to do it again, and it hit me twice. This was especially good because very shortly (about 5mins after) after he destroyed my ships, his mate in The Enterprise managed to beige me as well. He has also done it to this poor bugger in Camelot: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/timeline/war=520159 I feel it is fair to assume that he knows exactly what he's doing, but I am open to being proved wrong.10 points

Good evening, I am prefontanned and welcome to Terminal News Hour! The award winning news station bringing live footage to your basement. We broadcast to you from a secure, unknown location. Terminal News Hour prides itself on its unbiased, unflinchingly honest reports on controversial scandals during times of war. Our network has boots on the ground in all major alliances and has often been lauded to be first to the scene. And we are about to get better. Terminal News Hour is ecstatic to announce that it has been acquired by an anonymous fund intent on elevating this rag-tag news station to the last bastion of free speech and objective reporting in a world troubled by hurricanes of false narratives. Our new benefactor believes in the fundamental right of every man, woman and animal in this bizarre world to access to information. To that end, Terminal News Hour's funding has tripled and our team has been strengthened with an all star cast of reporters who work around the clock to differentiate the truth from IQ. The new management has determined that Terminal News Hour's new direction requires a refurbishment, including a new face. It is with a heavy heart that I, prefonturn have to at last walk away from this fine organization. I would like to thank my Terminal Jest colleagues for their steadfast support over the years as we made a difference, however small, in the world of mass media on Orbis. With all that said, please allow me to introduce your new host for Termi..... Greetings, friends! And welcome to Habsburg News Hour! That's right! We are rebranding to Habsburg News Hour! Why? Because of reasons that have nothing to do with filling my pockets. I am Fraggisan, and I will be your HNH host, bringing you all inquisition-related news! Yes, Inquisition related. We are going underground so you won't have to. With these NPO guys betraying people left and right, murdering the truth in their stampede for supremacy, someone has to stand up and orate about the virtues of truthfinding. And we will do just that! Scandals! Objective reports! Gossip! We'll cover it all over the coming weeks. Fear not! There will be laughs and tears along the way. You will learn to love us and hate IQ. You will learn the truth and we will decipher roquentin's posts together. Friends, this was our first broadcast. Stay tuned and see you soon! Pragglesan out!8 points

When someone/alliances puts in the time and effort to develop strategies, make money etc then those opposed to those people/alliances will always try to remove that advantage, simply because they lack the effort/time to do so. Opposition to baseball is only there because people don't want certain groups to have an advantage over them. One day we will simply just have politics and War and there will be a handful of people actually playing the game where the majority will only turn up for war. I'm a perfect example of that. In peace time I log in daily for the bonus, play some baseball when I feel like it and log off, there is nothing else in the game that interests me apart from war.7 points

So since some things are regular occurrences lets make a fun game out of it. I will use lottery between people who guessed this one correctly and the winner will get 2 credits, runner up 1 credit. Also additionally calling for predictions on what will be NPO's next spin on OWF. Post it below and if you see them starting to push your narrative let me know. $3mil for first 3 correct guesses.6 points

i don't think people understand how often Fark or Nuke Bloc were targeted by for years by alliances on all sides of this conflict just because they thought we were easy targets. Fark probably just wants to be left alone. glad they found a nice group of allies who know how solid they are. 730 nukes. that brings back memories.6 points

I think this post sums up everything. There's been a lot of back and forth this whole war and it seems like to me - someone who doesn't keep up with 'backchannel' talk and who doesn't really know anything - that the entire dialogue can be broke down to KETOG/Chaos/t$ saying 'NPO you're acting shitty and not in good faith' and NPO responding with 'not really but it doesn't matter because we're looking after our interests'. Correct me if I'm wrong because I've only ever skimmed over half the shit ever said since the war started and maybe I'm only posting cringe but it seems like that's a fairly accurate representation to me. So I'm curious for myself, @Roquentin, what is your goal? What are you striving for? What does an ideal 'Orbis' look like for NPO? I think I know what my 'side' wants but I don't really know what you want or what your side fights for.6 points

Yea, that’s called diplomacy. You’ve literally just outlined that we have actively gone through periods of war and peace, toxic hostility and borderline friendship with people you maintain we’ve always been buddy buddy with. You’ve also revealed we are bigger than our egos and can make amends and work to overcome our differences. We’re not married to any idea. There were times we were really entertaining approaching NPO in a serious manner to open up relations because we had hope after the dissolution of IQ. The fact that it took basically one instance of you perceiving us to be colluding to have you throw the idea of a new dynamic out the window shows how little effort and faith you put towards shifting NPOs FA outlook from the status quo (IQ).6 points

For myself, I’m happy to speak for t$ govt (not officially cause retired but w/e) and state that if there are more instances than the two that have been mentioned reach out to Leopold, another exec member, or myself. We’ll have a very direct chat and make it clear that doing so purposefully is unacceptable and if accidental to ensure it is not used going forward. While finding out exploits and reporting them to Alex is something we’ve often done, having them purposefully used by our members for gameplay benefits is not something we would ever condone and we are very pleased that self-reporting had already occurred to Alex by our members before this thread was even created.5 points

While I don't like to believe that anyone is exploiting until proven otherwise, it is still ridiculous that this is even happening in the first place. When you can't even tell who is exploiting and who just made an honest mistake (by spamming the attack button too much during slow update times because it seems like the attack isn't even being processed given the speed I would assume), then there is a huge problem.5 points

If you're entire argument rests on the plank that some alliances (objectively false tho) somehow use baseball as a system to encourage their players to remain active and therefore this is undue advantage, I'd say you are in essence punishing them for doing something in this game more actively than others. Baseball is a feature that is open to all, and folks can spend how much time they want in it, as they wish. As is, the earnings/time ratio is not worth for some of us, doesn't mean it's the same for others. I still haven't found a logical argument against baseball that doesn't take overtly political tones, and just mechanical in nature. There are variety of means that makes money out of thin air in this game, like trading (arbitrage), loans, credits etc. If baseball is something you don't participate in, but others do, does not make it a problematic tool. The problem with the mechanic as is, the sunk costs folk have spent into it. By nerfing it, Alex is basically saying these folks and the time they've spent using a tool he had within this game, is "wrong" and they've made "too" much money after spending literal hours, is by far a stupid means to go about it. The sunk costs are there, baseball isn't op. It takes years and the sheet he put out is unfair since those folks have spent 4-5 years playing baseball religiously while others have done other things. To now turn up and claim that this is undue advantage, is unfair and specifically targeting a small/active portion of the game unnecessarily.4 points

I am very poor nation. My government, they come and take all my coal and all my money, leaving me with nothing. They force me to rain cruelty upon nations I do not know. You want to punish people for playing the game, and that's honestly disappointing. Current baseball rewards players fairly based on the effort they have to expend to play it. All games work like that. You play it more, you earn more. That's fair. What's not fair is asking a feature to be nixed because you don't want to put in the effort to be better. As seen in this thread or on any baseball server, NPO is not the only one playing it. There are players from almost every alliance in every sphere. I asked my alliance members to play it (both in Syndicate and in Church of atom), some did because they had the time, and some didn't, because they didn't think the rewards were worth the effort. That's a blatant sign that a feature is balanced. I personally play it while watching movies. It isn't hard. Just use a mobile, and swipe down to refresh. You can do it while relaxing, or when you have nothing else to do. And seriously, who are you to tell us what is more enjoyable? I play eu4, I play age of empires, I play tanki online in my free time. I still like baseball more, for some stupid reason. But that stupid reason is none of your concern. You enjoy posting on the forums, you do that; you enjoy trading, you do that; you enjoy spending time with your family, you do that. Playing baseball and doing these things is not mutually exclusive. It's just that you prioritise different things. That is no reason to nerf or remove baseball. If you can't be bothered to put in the effort that you know will give you the rewards, it's on you; not NPO or any other baseball player.4 points

This glitch has been reported. A lot. And there hasn't been anything done to fix it.4 points
-
There was already a thread someone started for the guy in the first war. He reported that glitch to Alex immediately upon seeing it happen. The other guy I wasn't aware that the glitch happened with him. But it seems it happened in that one instance and not again. (Albeit because the glitch used up so much resistance). I will touch base with him to see what's up.4 points

Don't see what you are worried about. Just create a one man AA, name it Cornerstone, and Gorge will merge right into you.4 points

As a member of NPO all I see is toxicity against us. Why would I want to get to know you. If you post on the forums you are representing your alliances. Through baseball we have found a common interest outside of politics, that has fostered camaraderie between people I'd never meet otherwise. Just like planes weren't an issue until a larger alliance used them as a strategy. If players using game mechanics is an exploit then Alex needs to delete the game. Baseball was always intended as a money making game, otherwise it would have been designed to generate 0 $.4 points
-
You could make that argument about many things. Like Forum posting. I've met a number of people who I would never have interacted with otherwise via baseball. I'm not on the top list posted here but I think it's a good opportunity to kill time and make a modest sum when looked at as a per day average. If you're going to change things you could make the investment portion change. Every x games you need stadium maintenance. Or every x days. But it's not super game changing or providing an unfair advantage that isn't available to anyone else. On the other hand, we've got a large thread about this tiny issue that affects few people while there's a literal game breaking bug that to my knowledge still isn't fixed. Baseball works exactly as it was designed. War currently isn't. Bigger fish to fry here.4 points
-
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you. But in seriousness, there's just no reason not expect the same patterns to repeat. We never had any ground rules set out in terms of making minispheres or wars work within that framework. So it all ends up with whoever has the most informal understandings having an edge going in. The whole "we had zero ambitions to act on issues we already had" thing just never really works since it's a giant leap of faith. It doesn't really matter now since it wasn't desired but that's the thing when we have relationship asymmetry. The people on our side aren't as connected historically. I've always tried to be as sincere as possible so if people think it's paranoia, it's better than thinking I'm lying which is to say something false intentionally. Wars have been started on less than anything that's been deemed purely speculative coming from me.4 points

This is ridiculous. The script captcha is there to prevent cheating, and now when players don't cheat someone complains about it and now it becomes an issue even though it's hardwork of clicking? It's been unfair to players who went VM that the players still freaking age, I've suggested it to you a long time back, and now suggestion to limit the amts of play or reduce the amt to earn?! That's gone too far. And please, not everyone that plays baseball are from NPO. Some people played it way too early from the start. Baseball is the one thing I refused you to touch on and instead of focus on other important areas of the game! There are people like me who plays baseball by heart, and hard earned time on it, for the fun. Not everyone are playing 10,000 games a day. I said this because I invested baseball as slow as possible, doing it my slow way of reaching 100% rating, and having the fun to join the baseball community to interact with the other players. At some point, someone still does earn a billion for doing baseball, but someone also sacrificed for their time doing those earnings, and cutting it off is way too unfair for those who put their time on baseball through real efforts. Baseball is not intended to earn billion this way? What? Did it account that these figures are the hardwork of those who spent it 4 years straight on baseball and not just some cheaters to achieve it in means? Did it account the fact that players actually do tipping from the money they earned to the others who played their games as a fair share of trade? When most baseball players are doing according to fairly tip rules, you want to implement a limit of someone who loves to play baseball? This suggestion benefits heavily to those who hate baseball and find it a waste of time, clearly unfair to those who actually spend real time and effort on it. What's wrong with doing it with real effort? What's wrong with earning it by clicking? Even if it's 10,000 games per day?4 points
-
This is missing context, those numbers leave out the number of days/years taken to reach them and ignore tipping culture.4 points
-
I mean nerfing baseball against is not worth it. If someone wants to spend hours clicking a button and doing things to earn money, you should let it be. It's a fun/useful mechanic that I've used as well from time to time and it's absolutely worth it. As is, it takes RL time to make anything out of it. Further nerfing it you reducing actual things to do in game, and that'd be a terrible move. If you just want to nerf things, go ahead and nerf trading too. It's only fair that folks spending RL time to use your mechanics should all be screwed over.4 points
-
Leave my baseball alone! There are a frick-ton of things that this game needs fixing, baseball is not one of them. Me desperately trying to derail the conversation: You still promised us a revamped and/or changed war system, whatever happened to that?4 points
-
@Alex It is clear that players are taking advantage of the market via arbitrage and making huge profits. This also tends to benefit those who have the time and in-game wealth to monitor opportunities and to bulk buy and sell. As an example from a 5mil starting point in the past I turned that into $300million in less than a month. That's $295million pure profit. My suggestion is to have set prices for each resource that never change. This change will still allow people to buy and sell resources on the market, but will stop extra cash being generated into the economy. Alternatively reduce the max/min price you can sell/buy above/below the average price to 1/10 of what the average is. I.e if average is 2000 you can set your price at 2200 or 1800. Let the shitfest commence.3 points

I'm guessing you will nerf trading next? I'd like to see a table on how much the highest earning Nation has made from trading, please. Keno too since people have hit the jackpot a few times. Their earnings will be higher than anyone has achieved through baseball. There is a miniscule amount to do in this game. Only a small amount get to play the Politics part, the majority get to play the war part. The only other things available is trading, baseball and keno, with baseball being the only real inter alliance community building aspect of those. The amount you make from baseball isn't really that much and you need to spend a lot of RL hours on it.3 points

It's a known issue, and I'm working on a solution. The biggest issue, and the reason that this hasn't been fixed, is that I can't seem to replicate it myself. I'm not sure how or why it's happening, which is making it a very slow issue to debug. I've tried a number of fixes, but I've been forced to take a "wait and see" approach because I can't test until it's fixed on my end. tl:dr - The guy let me know right away, and I don't think anything malicious is happening. I'm working on fixing it.3 points
