  2. This is Shifty coming in with a soapbox piece because apparently anyone can pick them up from an alley and fish for upvotes Just stand on that little ol' 2x4 contraption and preach... Anywho Anyone ever notice how OoC violations always come from the same places? Well yeah Fark and Kosmo like to say they always come from me, KT, and spergs. But has anyone ever noticed how it's always the same alliances and even people who accuse others of OoC? Not only that, but they're always ranting and preaching about how the community is too toxic yet they have the most infighting, kickbans, and OoC squabbles. If we want to bring up OoC, it's always the same communities that foster this shit of "aye, gimme ur snap or insta fam" and then cry when it backfires. Yeah dude, you wanna cross that line, there's a possibility it's gonna end up going there dumbass. You wiling to take the risk? You sure get it and what comes with it dude. No one put a gun to your back. "But Shifty, you're blaming the victim..." Dude, we all know certain people actively hate each other. Not just a "___ man bad" or "I heard you suck." Let's not get sugarcoated here like some children's breakfast cereal. People here have feuds and those feuds get ugly. Obviously, you don't know what goes on private so people tend frown upon these and ignore them or simply choose whoever they trust more/know longer/have more attachment to. That's how the community gets involved, it's only normal group dynamics. Anywho, this ties into why Shifty has his own server and his own friend circle. I've never changed my unapologetic humor or approach with people. I still follow "all in or all out, but never cross me" with those around me. Sure, on the OWF, we have crusades and massive "OoC threat man bad" protests, but at the end of the day, don't you think some people are eggshells or shitstorm magnets? No matter how many edgelords you ban, kick, or try to censor, these people are just humpty dumpties. You can never fix the broken and you can't even stop them from falling off that damn wall. Anything knocks them off. By this I mean: You'll see people start to talk and act up in servers once I appear, Shifty attracts extra chromosomes or repels them like a powerful magnet (Magnetic Shifty, ayyy.) By the same laws, some people are just so high strung, sensitive, and just overall glass cannons. They'll always entice people to get angry at them. They'll dish out their own toxicity like a howitzer, but crack under the pressure of return verbal fire. They then call foul because they can't take the heat. It's the energy/vibe/personality they project, it's their nature. Trust me, go on Discord, bait one of those people with something as innocent as an IC jab (your alliance sucks) or opinion of something they like, but isn't political (your favorite music sucks) and you'll see how quickly they cry home to Mama and Papa Discord server mod/admin for a kick/ban or start spewing insults back until they get pouty and ragequit for the day. Guys, there's obvious rule violations and whatnot, ok their fault for breaking the rules, do w/e you want with them. But let's be honest folks, some communities just aren't worth dealing with. Consider telling your members to just ignore them or find creative ways to tell them to frick off. They aren't fun and their cliquey nature will always cause them to implode and have arguments. It's kinda like the bro advice: don't stick your dick in crazy. tl:dr, Some people just wanna see the world burn, but some people just burn to !@#$ to the whole world. Side note: SNN still exists, Shifty is just busy with his AA and work. We'll be back unlike your dad who's gone out for cigarettes.

  5. ...No, you don't have "more options"; you're still under BK's influence at best, and under their thrall at worst. Tying more alliances indirectly towards BK is less "steps towards independence" so much as "adding to BK's satellite alliance bulk", unless there's actual steps towards... y'know, independence. It doesn't add options, since your options remain "be BK satellite" or "start breaking off of BK". Feel free to continue to sit in BK's sphere all day long, it's no particular skin off my nose; but unless and until you can show that you're willing to say "no" to them on any substantive matter then you haven't really taken any steps towards anything but adding to BKsphere's already excessive bulk of satellites. Now, would cutting ties to BK be something negative? If done in a vacuum, perhaps, and if done with some naive expectation of safety and security certainly, but challenge is how we grow as alliances, as blocs, and as individuals. Break ties with BK, declare support of Chaos bloc against the evil menace of KETOG, or bandwagon against Chaos if you want (though I sincerely don't recommend that), maybe hit Rosesphere just because they're harboring Akuryo. All of these will be challenging (well, not the bandwagon against chaos option), which will tighten your coordination, prove your agency as an independent bloc, shake out anyone uncommitted to advancing your political causes as opposed to BK's or their own pixelhugging, and generally earn respect. Respect which can be achieved in no other way. Your growth and prosperity cannot be measured in cities and nations alone, but in how well they are used, how efficient and how dedicated each of them is and how independent they are of influence from anyone else, be that KETOG or Chaos or Rose or BK or SyndisPO or anybody. And until you've shown SOME of that, what growth have you actually accomplished? And why should anyone offer you respect?

  7. Good news for you guys is that Soup is currently in a losing war, and as their allies in CoS have set the precedence about what people in alliances are allowed to say on the OWF, we could just put a term in outlawing Soup from referencing any temperature of the soup.

  11. Soup infighting might be a bit of a stretch - it's more like there was a piece of questionable sausage and the guy cooking dinner was like "whatsa the worsta that can happen, eh?" So he threw it into the jambalaya and then the poor sod ate it and that piece of sausage had to get out one end or the other and it was kinda messy. Now the guy knows better and will listen to product reviews in the future because having one extra piece of sausage isn't worth the raging gut pain and explosive diarrhea it caused. #LifeLessonsFromTheKitchen

  17. Honestly though, to contribute to the thread, I think most of us would love to see more blocs and dynamic gameplay and manoeuvres. The plausibility of it though is unlikely by the sheer mechanics that we all play the game through. The Tactics involved with big moves are usually triumphed as a positive until the are brought crashing back down into the dirt. It's a shame that Nova was daft enough to cheat, because it would have set Chaos up nicely (whilst I can concede that Nova wasn't as prestigious as CoS or TKR etc. they still could have had a cornerstone to allowing a more diverse divisive landscape.) So on Citadel or Covenant or any others that sit in the IQ bowl or whatever we decide to call our next spider web. To encourage the balance that I see lots wanting to achieve in their wars or what not, look into less bridging treaties and more little worlds of gunpowder waiting to explode. Like the fun KETOG and co. are having in Dance Dance 2 the Return of Disco (or Surf's Up ?) To be frank, I'd love to see a schism like the fun catholic ones with grunted hostilities around ideologies. Now just for reference, I enjoyed @Prefontaine Pondering from a little will back what came to mind for me was the Machiavelli player. No what that is is someone who is loyal to their alliance and is willing to make big moves and challenge fellow players that might not be to everyone's or anyone's liking. The community makes this game and whilst I'm personally a young player of just past a year, I have meet some super cool people, not gonna lie. They have shaped news was of viewing the game and it's mechanics. Whilst @Dio Brando, @katashimon13 or even Shifty subscribe to different styles of gameplay (just to name a few, of course I'm missing people ?), even though I personally might not agree with what people are doing or saying it keeps things interesting and unpredictable. I was talking with @Inst recently, and was indicated about the downfall of CN "the idea that people have active cheats and have "deep opsec" operations annoys the crap out of me". Now in that discussion we were also talking with Pooball, and how the recent server lag might have been more people trying to exploit the system for their own game. Is this Machiavelli gameplay... (I'll let you decide Orbis) I may not be the head honcho or someone even worth your time listening to, but as much as I love getting to read the big names of the forums the little guys (like myself), do enjoy having a word every once in a while. But it needs to be my duty as much as any other player to encourage the echo-chamber of growth in our game. Mass downvoting a post made by a rubbish micro leader, as much fun as it is, he/she just lacks a mentor, so sure go ahead and downvote them to encourage them never to post again. But maybe instead shoot the person a dm and give them some tips to do the things that CAN address the crux of the issue. Look, they have the energy to bring light to and rework your developed and knowledgable ideas. I'd like to thank @Batavus, @Zafri Zackery, @Sphinx and many many more, who have personally gotten to know me and encouraged me to look to having an impact on the game. But whilst I appreciate the advice that most give of 'oh micro politics is rubbish' and 'just join a big alliance', the danger is this stat: Rank #50 Sanctuary 57,321.29 Rank #60 House Arryn 28,651.38 That's almost 30K worth of score difference. In our games micro tier, where are we going to get the next dynamic or exciting alliance from if they have to bridge that huge gap (Metaphorically and Physically) to even be considered relevant (yes that's an assertion on relevant but doesn't matter). To context that's almost 3 @Fraggle's worth of score. So I'd love to see major players testing their own hand like @Maia (I've referenced it as well) and digging in and creating a micro or joining a micro, it's a change and would spice things up. But yet I fall back on the plausibility of it occurring. Slim... Just another thing to read and not take action. TL;DR So what's the point of my little pamphlet of prose, 3 things: 1) To the new bloc of Citadel, (but not you exclusively), as a growing and developing alliance(s), take a leap of faith, if it doesn't work then fall back on the safe option. 2) Emphasising the role of the Machiavelli player, who isn't liked but is decisive in challenging the status quo 3) To all you established players, if you do want your (and our) community to prosper and improve; Mentor, Teach and Get To Know the younger inexperienced players so they can better the game. Cheers, Jordy

The great nation of exorock does not discriminate among donors. All are equally loved. Muppet researchers have worked round the clock to identify those things most precious to the hippo. 27. Yeah. I'm not sure where to log this complaint with the moderation staff, precisely, but for the record I don't think this is a particularly sufficient punishment. I think we need to be thinking a little bit more about the kind of community we want to have. And it would probably be wise to change the in game text of the declaration, as well.
    3 points
  28. So let's start. First of all, I don't know why you all are criticizing Empyrea so badly because some low gov member decided to troll, but I appreciate that having our attention means so much to you. When have we ever run to someone for help? I perfectly remember that when Camelot and BK were hitting us a few months ago for a reason we didn't see to be valid, we didn't activate our MDP's but instead dealt with it on our own. I seem to recall that a few weeks ago when you came up with reasons to counter us for some protectorate bullshit of yours, I had BK knock on my door a few days later, so you might want to re consider about who runs. As a matter of fact, Akuryo has achieved a decent number of stuff. Do what exactly? I know people will shout at me for saying this, but take a deep breath when you get so triggered over nothing so you can avoid misspelling like above. I don't know if people think of Oblivion first, or if you just said that to try to argue back but I don't really care to argue about this. So now let's see what moves we made: https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/NPO's_First_Time_♥ https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Chaos_War - Started a war at a number disadvantage in the low and mid tier, which is where most of Empyrea's members are knowing we would get rolled down there. https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Knightfall https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Ayyslamic_Crusade https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Apophis - Hit an alliance that's currently in this bloc at the risk of individual war with Vanguard. https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Camelot_Empyrea_War - Didn't call our allies in when it went badly. https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Celestial_Invasion_of_Duat - Made a move when the rest of the game was doing nothing. https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Food_Hoarding_Investigation https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Teutonic_War - Made a move when the rest of the game was doing nothing. https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Royal_Rumble - Hit alliances knowing that we would get hit back by multiple alliances that were bigger than us. Congratulations to all involved in this bloc. You haven't done much so far, but I hope you use this as an opportunity.

  29. It was my impression that this is a repeat offender, in regards to both attitude and targeted player. Surely a higher punishment than a nation strike is warranted when we can conclude from the history of these two players that this wasn't a random that went too far, but a declaration but an act of malicious intent?

  33. The other insight is to not throw in the vegetables that came in the same packaging as the tainted sausage. While the vegetables by themselves are tasty, harmless and add nutritional value - they became tainted when they were vacuum sealed with the harmful meat. All of the “infighting” comes from the package that stored the aforementioned tainted sausage and veggies.

  35. I'm not going to pretend like I'm following this thread, but I did notice this line, and I just wanted to put it out there that if any fledgling alliances are looking to make a name for themselves in Orbis, this would be a fantastic move. Alternatively, for those who are too scared to smack Rose directly, I'd also suggest just slotting Akuryo and ignoring everybody else because rolling him is, frankly, the only part that matters. (Aku, you're welcome; if you get a war because of us, me and Scarf will take a payment of 500m each.)

  43. I'm going to agree with this. There is a need to increase the warn - without actually having a stance, Alex, it basically just allows (and fosters) other people who take this course. There is plenty of satire, jokes, and lightweight banter within this same field that these types can hide behind. Unfortunately, they remain here and the real threat that we have seen multiple times by this guy - and others - remains a part of this community. The in-game war dec still says what you striked him for, which doesn't make much sense.

  45. You sign about 15 protectorates, I'm sure you can live without 5 of them allying you. Heck most pros don't ally their protector and actively take an independent start once they get on their feet. KT was a Pantheon protectorate, t$ was a Rose protectorate etc. I'd say were more successful because of it. This new bloc is going to live in your shadow and ultimately not much has changed, despite their attempts to convince us otherwise.
    2 points
  46. This is just an objectively stupid argument. So protectorates can’t sign MDPs with their protector? What’s the point then? I don’t think they would claim to be as powerful as BK, but the point of a bloc is to pool power with the sum being greater then its parts. You could make arguments all day on how citadel would stack up against a top alliance, but there’s no argument that citadel is greater than the individual alliances it is composed of. Vanguard got a lot more bad press than it deserved l, and was hardly the puppet it was made out to be. There was only one time in its entire history that IQ did what I would consider an “intervention”, and that was only when Vanguard was unknowingly walking into a bad position. As for being required to cluster around one main power, and smaller bloc would be stupid not to have at least one connection to someone else. Small blocs get eaten up real quick on orbis. BK being in the bloc itself would not give them any less of the accusations they are already getting of being puppets. Have to find him first. He was last seen getting off a plane in Serbia with only a knife and a picture.
