That is, I want everyone to realize something. As of writing this there are ~30,000 nations, and I am going to go out on a limb and say only a few hundred are active. That’s ~0.0000025% of the whole of humanity. Despite our differences, we are a minute group of likeminded people who all play the same random political browser game. I have met some of the nicest and most friendly people on here, differing opinions notwithstanding. PnW has a diverse yet beautiful community who, at the base, just like to have a fun time. The community takes the likeness of a field of flowers, each different flower complimenting the differences of the others while being pretty in its own right. On another hand, the bantering and insults are part of the drama we all know and love. Imagine if nobody could ever insult each other, imagine all the wars and conflicts that wouldn’t happen. The line is crossed once you forget that we are so similar to each other, and this isn’t even the “oh we’re all human” argument. At the bottom of my heart I respect every single player, even the ones who I mortally hate (a whole 2 people). I still look at them and marvel at how we all still play the same game and know the same people and participate in the same things. I want new(er) players that are reading this to understand that, and older players to be reminded. Even I, the great almighty perfect Aqua, forget this and can be a bit rash. For that I apologize. I hope you’ll forgive my hypocrisy. ---Tips--- On another note, I’m accepting tips for this. I want to rebuild my nation and I’ve been in VM, so I thought “hey, you’re doing cool stuff so maybe someone with a massive surplus of money might toss you some change”. And to be honest, this took a lot of effort. Absolutely not required, but if you happen to have a spare few mil (or less) send it to the Weebunism alliance bank with a note designating it as a tip. Again, if you don’t have anything to spare don’t give it to me. I kinda feel like an ass for asking, and it really isn’t a big issue. A short while back I suggested this: "@" in buying units - Game Suggestions - Politics & War Forum (politicsandwar.com) It was a widely well recieved quality of life suggestion, i so i tought it would be worth it to expand on it. @ In Alliance Banks Now I am basically proposing the same for people who deposit into the alliance bank. If I remember correctly depositing and withdrawing are 2 diffrent screens so this wouldn't affect people with bank permissions in weird ways. In essence this proposal would make it so that if you type @25000 (for example aluminium), everything in excess of 25000 aluminium would be deposited into the alliance bank. This could be used to make sure you don't have too many resources on your nation just before a war. This would (quite obviously) be limited to the amount of resources you have on hand, you wouldn't be able to do cheeky withdraws this way. @ In Trading This would work just like you would expect it too. When creating a sell offer (let's say @25000 aluminium) everything in excess of 25000 aluminium would be sold at the price you put. When responding to a buy offer it would make it so you have the amount you want (capped at the size of the listed trade). When creating a buy offer (let's say @25000 aluminium) it would create a buy offer for the amount of aluminium you need untill 25000. When responding to a sell offer (let's say @25000 aluminium) you would buy enough resources for you to get 25000 aluminium. The four listed proposals would obviously be limited to the size of the trade offers or to how much you have on hand. You are making this a way bigger issue than it is while trying to play on a morale high ground while you dismiss other people’s points by saying they “skew the narratives” or that they “jump to conclusions” meanwhile you are literally skewing the narrative by saying “this is not meant to moderate servers” With a proposed idea that would very obviously cause people to moderate each other, and some people will try to use anything to gain dirt to get an advantage in PnW. I guess your only argument here is that it’s not meant to moderate servers but that doesn’t matter, what matters is what happens not the intention. That being said. You do realize that almost all these problems can be solved by literally setting up your discord server correctly right and reporting to discord support right? And all your straw man what if situations Would 100% be self regulated by the PnW community if let known. If the strawman here continues attacking you then banning him from the game was never going to do anything as he does not care about it. Another strawman, I cannot even think of a person in PnW currently who goes that far . Also once again reporting to discord support would fare you far better than banning on PNW, ontop of that the community would self regulate and screw that guy over. if both these don’t stop him then him getting banned won’t either, making your moderation suggestion pretty much useless in scenarios which do apply and harmful in scenarios which don’t apply.

Tldr?

It is with great sadness that I have to inform of the most recent death to the Orbis community. About a month or two ago a member of Terminus Est's high gov, Stavros Cassadine, told us that he had been diagnosed with cancer. In addition to this, he was also battling a heart condition. Recently, his condition severely worsened and he had to go through multiple surgeries, all of which had complications. Nonetheless, like the fighter I knew he was, he came through these operations and just before Christmas came off the ventilator. However, while recovering post-op, he caught Covid-19. This unfortunately he did not survive from. He was a fantastic face to have around our discord and was a great friend to myself and others. I know that all those who knew him will agree with me that he will be missed dearly within our community. It's crazy right? Treating people with kindness and respect, despite the fact that you will never meet them, and will have zero repercussions for acting like a dick. What's weird is its not really that hard to do, it takes a slight modicum of self control, and a little bit of maturity. If you are older than say 16, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to do this.

Problem lies in that resources are calculated to 2 decimal points. Mines produce 0.25 per mine, per turn. Effectively is someone had only 1 or 2 mines of that type (depending on which way you round at .5) they might be gaining nothing.

But why do you think right that certain communities in their private members would care if a rape joke was made. Or if someone jokingly says "man I have so much homework i'm gonna kill myself". Now it maye be offending to some, and that is fine, in that case they can without any doubts stay in an alliance that doesn't do this. This does not mean that every community has to care. And as i brought up earlier, why can certain discords not have an NSFW channel (which would be explicitly againt the game rules) if they have a mature way of handeling this. These communities are often groups of friends playing a game, and what works for some does not work for others. I myself do like some friendly and nice discussion (as for example SRD said, discord channels can be heavy moderated). This does not mean i want to enforce this in other places. Next up sketchy is 100% right in knowing that people will abuse this, and I was here during Goons and boy have I seen some absolute ******** reporting. I in addition also believe that spying in alliance chats could become a very lucrative hobby if you an get people banned for misspeaking or whatever. I think community moderation is a nice idea but very hard to execute and I believe the only use case are the worst scenarios (doxxing someone, blackmailing people with IRL threats..) but anythign that is only partially gray should be left alone.

Why are half the people here nominating their own alliances? Sure, it's impossible to get rid of bias, but at least make an attempt to be unbiased?

I do not want to give Alex or anyone he hires the authority to indirectly moderate the Discord channels of the P&W community and the thought of him gaining that power is terrifying to me. First off, Alex's judgment and capability as an admin is questionable to begin with. His ruling on matters can be inconsistent. I guess he can pawn that off to hired help but having anonymous, faceless people do it doesn't bring me much comfort. Second, I don't want my speech patrolled in private spaces by third parties. I agree to the rules of P&W because I want to play so I keep my nose clean. I agree to stay out of trouble and not create problems for my community (KT) because I want to be a part of it. I do not consent to have my actions off-site patrolled by game moderators and although I will be sad to do so, I will quit the game if it comes to that. Third, the community does a decent enough job policing itself. I guess it could be better but this suggestion of letting Alex judge if my 'are traps gay?' question violates game rules is silly.
