  3. I agree that this is bad for the game. There is nothing worse than weebs and we must drive them out before it's too late and sheepy is forced to rename this game Politics & Weebs. I am self-proclaiming myself leader of the anti-anime alliance(AAA) and naming sir scarfalot as community crusher, alyster as anime annihilator, epi as kiddy killer, and Partiboi as snek. Roq will be proclaimed as fluffy enemy #1 and must be destroyed in order for A3 to succeed. This is a desperate gamble in order to save P&W and I expect very few people to survive, which is why I'm willing to (temporarily) work with kpop scum, nasty furries, and even The Kid in order to achieve this goal. We must all put our diffrences aside to save PW from becoming entangled in the weeb web.

  4. Hay, PrimeTime BootyTime will be this friday at the normal time (7pm Pacific, 10pm Eastern). The only reason this is going to be controversial is that I'm going to talk about how Kertchtog is still crushing coalition B in the stats and as to who's really at fault for the war, along with the usual fun and dumb stuff we always do like jokes, interviews, music, and alchohol dependency. We have some guests lined up, but Imma hold off on announcing who and when ;). We hope to see you there this friday on Factory Fresh Media! Discord invite: https://discord.gg/NEwrVh

  5. @Roquentin Hurting your war effort is not slot filling. Alex's rules are vague as hell, absolutely, but they're not nearly vague enough for this shit you keep going on about "hurt the other nation's in the war". The rules don't give a shit, he had a different goal and was achieving it by 100% permissible means. Feel free not to like it, or attack them for it as you did. But quit pedaling this asinine bullshit that it was even within the same Galaxy as slotfilling, or that there was the slightest of detectable iotas of ground to try and get them hit by mods over it. Honestly I don't care if Alex has no jurisdiction over discord. Anyone uses mods as a weapon they should be the one getting hit, regardless of the medium used. Edit: Imagine decrying people who toxicly rage against you for not playing their way only to turn around and try to get people warned or even banned for not playing YOUR way. At this point I pessimistically await the day this attitude escalates into people filing mass reports against leaders like yourself hoping to get them banned. That's where this nonsense heads.

  6. Are you perhaps suffering from some selective memory failure? Your immediate demand was to airstrike, or we were slot filling and you'd report us. Not airstriking is not slot filling, or there's a lot of people that should be getting warnings right now. If you feel that's the case, then I'd suggest you issue the reports you're so fond of using and get those warnings going. The entire purpose of why we were there was for the treasure, and we wrote that on the tin. In of itself, the purpose is to actively close the war. It's even more clear cut than sitting on people is in whether or not it's violating the rule against slot filling because sitting on people means you don't have the intention to close the war, and you usually want to drag that war out as long as possible. So no, I didn't expect it to be reported because there are no rules broken, and I'm not in the habit of making sets of fraudulent reports to the mods.

  8. Someone save this as Worst Thread of the Year, please. Look, if an alliance has the capability to mass recruit, let em be. The newer players will eventually figure things out on their own. No need to white knight for them. Also, lol@poaching. People still worry about that too?

  9. Our long sleep has been interrupted by a few alliances. Not sure of all of their names, Back Knights and the Sidekicks or something. Pretty cheesy band name, and not half the racket you would expect. Maybe they are just upset that they weren't invited to the party. It really was quite a party - took 2 years to sleep it off. Anyhow, nice to fight again, and we will be disregarding the advice coming from vocal subs in some places.

  16. I'm not taking your public condemnation of Roq's actions as indicative of how you talk to new players. In my very first response to you I made that very clear by writing "I don't know how you talk to people in Discord or in any place other than the forums, but for someone who's only basis for judging how you communicate with people is the forums, you would appear pretty toxic, as evidenced by this thread." I clearly stated that I'm not judging your interactions with people in other places than the forums so I don't know why you're trying to claim I'm doing so. If you're going to deliberately ignore parts of my post in your arguments then we really have nothing more to talk about. Additionally, it's not unreasonable to claim that your reactions in this thread have been toxic just because that was what you're accused of being. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. You could have responded in a non-toxic manner yet you chose not to do so. I'm not attempting to judge you as a person, I don't really care about you or have anything against you, I'm just providing commentary and judgment on your conduct in this particular thread because I believe you're reacting to this whole thing in a poor manner. Like I mentioned before, how you behave or talk to people anywhere else is irrelevant to me and the discussion I started with you. Edit: I didn't see @Curufinwe's post before posting my own but he is 100% correct and that's exactly the point I was making. Honestly Scarf, if I showed all those new players what you said about them in your first post here, do you think they'd consider you to be friendly or hostile? As much as you might like to believe it, your good behavior elsewhere really doesn't excuse your bad behavior on this forum or in this particular thread.

  17. Really? You think that's.. encouraging? Wew. If you don't see how that isn't the case, I really don't know what I can do for you. And although I don't blame you for taking what Roq posted personally, he did write "people like scarfalot", which hardly makes it seem like it was solely aimed at you. Besides, you're basically proving him right and you made yourself an obvious target for criticism of the kind of people you were grouped together with with your posts in this thread. You really only have yourself to blame for this.

  18. Deep breaths, Scarf. Deep breaths. It'll be okay. Just relax. He just used you as an example and frankly, I don't know how you talk to people in Discord or in any place other than the forums, but for someone who's only basis for judging how you communicate with people is the forums, you would appear pretty toxic, as evidenced by this thread. I'm sure you can be a perfectly nice and polite person but if one of your points in this thread was to prove how you're not toxic, you did the exact reverse of that, at least from my point of view. Every single one of your posts seems like a knee-jerk reaction to what you perceived as a personal offense and it really looks like you're nitpicking to find the slightest thing to attack NPO over. Personally, I've seen how some of these new nations were greeted in the P&W server and I can't blame anyone for recommending them to stay away. Besides, regardless of how much some people would like to believe it, these new people joining aren't mindless drones that do whatever they're told. They're just as capable of independent thought as you or I. I find it really difficult to believe that you are genuinely of the opinion that every single one of these 200+ nations are forever going to remain entirely isolated from the rest of the P&W community. They will inevitably become involved with the rest of the community at some point if they keep playing and they will reach out on their own if they want to. I think the best thing any of us could do, whether we're just happy to see new players join or if you think it's a bad thing that new players are supposedly being isolated in the "NPO camp", would be to be open and welcoming towards them and introduce them to the rest of the community in a friendly manner.

  19. It’s not just in game trolling either. The server itself is incredibly unmoderated in certain regards and lacks structure. It’s the same thing as shoving a hundred high schoolers with a lot of pent up aggression in one room with delicate china and thinking “yeah this is a good idea”. It’s really not. Part of it is just the nature of the beast when dealing with big servers, but the rest is a lack of desire or ability to make the environment less toxic in terms of less blatant offenses.

  23. They sure do and have lost the will to fight. Can you believe there is a cabal of nitwits who advised us to sell off our infra? LOLOL. They may as well be led by our supposedly common enemy. Do their biddong for them, and use their measures for success... Any moron who puts stats over a demonstration of a will to fight, aggressive qualities if you will, doesn't actually care for their cause. They are bean counters, and pixel huggers all. To 'choose' to retreat into a ball where the enemy allows them to congregate, and be utterly unable to use a new ally to advantage in an aggressive way is the definition of submissive. To tell us to sell infra is just plain jealousy. Crabs in a bucket. This war is over, and the inability to surrender when the end is obviously upon you is a failure of leadership and imagination, and the only thing padding anyone's useless stats.

  26. Kerchtog's planes are essentially constant at a low level. As for your other comment, quality in an inferior force tends to improve as experience builds up, while quality in a superior force tends to degrade as attrition kicks in and vets die off. In a PnW scenario, vets get tired, while noobs stop being crap and new reinforcements include the lessons of the last wave.

  27. We should ask NPO to change the name of their leader from "Emperor" to "Hegemon" Oh yes, give it to me baby. Uh huh, uh huh. Good... Gooooooooooood... You are correct but it needs to be some kind of angry rant post. I believe in you. How do you feel about NPO's hegemonic tendencies? Feel free to add more, I'll edit them into the OP. 2200 words? Let see how many stick through the usual high attrition of noobs the game has to even reach an spot where they can make an impact. Keep an eye on that bank though. Don't want it to "accidentally" end up on a new nation.

  33. ?‍♂️ Find your own group of folks that you can mass migrate over. It just seems like complaining, they didn’t break any rules. The only legitimate gripe is the attempt to block them from the rest of the community. I believe there is an argument that keeping them isolated hurts the community/dynamic of the game.

  34. No you just call for the disbandment of communities and then busy posting about slaveholder alliances. Not to mention, your posts in this thread. I like how you believe you're entitled to any benefit of the doubt or saintliness from the NPO. If someone straight up asks me as a new player who to stay away from, you'll probably be the first person who's post history I'd use as the best example of the toxicity that exists here in public and why I'd recommend staying far away from this cesspool.

  37. People like scarfalot are the exact reason and if outright trolling people wasn't a main mode of communication on the official server, it wouldn't be an issue. Alex would have to put some stricter rules if you don't want people avoiding it for toxicity. A few times I've thought of just having a generic server dedicated to welcoming people who join the game in general. For most people it's a turn off to have open trolling.

  44. In another lifetime I have been in bureaucratic alliances, both democratic and undemocratic, and there are four underlying features that most "traditional" alliances have: Defined ministries (finance, war, internal affairs, foreign affairs) Defined government roles and portfolio limiting ministers to a particular area. Meritocratic promotion style governance where you work your way up via a particular ministry. Orders-based mobilization of members, where independent action is prohibited or discouraged. I will explain why all of these features are inefficient and damaging. In any given alliance, regardless of whether it is an elite alliance or a mass alliance, there are a limited number of people who are interested in alliance government. Within that limited number of people, there are an even more limited number of people who are competent and capable of being alliance government, and among those, a limited number who will be active in governing at any one time. When I say active in governing I don't mean active as in they log in everyday, but are actively pursuing alliance goals (coming up with guides, planning wars, talking to other alliances about common interests, etc). Your best government people are probably not running your alliance right now, the smartest people in your alliance probably don't want to run the alliance, and just want to play and lurk in the background. Alliance charters are written as though everyone is clamouring for a government position, whereas the reality is that getting people who are motivated to be actively governing are rare and precious commodities. There are a number of reasons why people might not pursue government in your alliance, chief among them are: - Defined government roles are unappealing, they want to do something else where there is no defined role - Ruling clique inner circle situation where government is basically a closed aristocracy - Uninterested in government - RL too busy - Can't be bothered to jump through all the hoops of a "meritocracy" These people who are interested in governing the alliance but don't for one reason or another are unrealized alliance potential. For some it is not possible to realize that potential, you can't write a charter granting people more free time IRL for instance, and you can bring a player to power but you can't make them care. For the rest though, you CAN realize that potential, by having an Arrghist government. What is an Arrghist government? Our governing philosophy is essentially that if someone is interested in leadership, let them do whatever they want. They want to start a whole new program where they pursue bounties? Let's make one! Someone has new banking ideas? Let them try it out. They want to start a mentoring program? They're crazy, but if they want that headache then go for it. The classic failure of the ministry system is a classic situation most alliances have encountered: Here's the scenario, your alliance has just been attacked, your economic and foreign affairs ministers quickly gather to figure out what's going on, but where's the war minister? Noone wanted to be the war minister last election, so they nominated the old war minister who doesn't care anymore and isn't even online. Who will plan the counter-offensive? The charter forbids anyone but the war minister from issuing orders! In this situation many alliances end up de-facto embracing Arrghism on a temporary basis as the Economics minister ends up planning a war offensive and the FA minister helps him send out attack orders, days later, after the war has been run into the ground. Imagine instead a decentralized system, war is declared and every gov available at the time discuss what aspect of the war, who wants to do what? Ok you plan the counteroffensive I'll send out war aid, guy who isn't even in gov volunteers to train the noobs how to fight, awesome let's promote that guy to mid level government and see how they do. You would think a system where random people are promoted and given responsibilities would lead to ineffective leadership, but sadly this is not at all the case. Inactive leadership is actually worse than no leadership at all, since without a minister to wait for orders, people would just take individual initiative. This gets back to the final aspect, individual initiative. In general, alliances look down on individual initiative, and consider government to be a much better judge of action. Often this is true, however this assumes that government has unlimited time to determine the best course of action. Consider the target list. Every war, most alliances draw up a target list of enemy nations, painstakingly crafted considering every last detail. The problem is that target lists are pointless. You could have just left that to individual initiative, where your own players could get together and pick their own targets, and coordinate their own attacks. Unlike target lists, this individual initiative has no expiry date (targets lists are worthless immediately following the first offensive, when score ranges no longer even resemble the old ones) and individuals spend much longer on each matchup. If you tell your alliance to pick a target, they have all day to plan out an attack against the targets they chose. Target lists, your poor milcom guys probably spent 3 seconds on each matchup. Even if your milcom guy is a genius and your members are retards, you'll probably end up with about the same quality of matchups. It isn't just this though, individual initiative also means your alliance is never waiting for orders. Waiting for inactive government to respond to crises is crippling, especially to memberships who have grown to rely on orders and cannot act independently. Individual initiative allows for swift action and reaction. Your members are smarter and more capable than you give them credit for.
