  1. Hello all, As a short break from your regularly scheduled forum salt, I'm a here to report on the global trade markets. I'm going to cover a few major topics all in one post so get ready! War Profiteering, Duplication, and Summertime Stagnation: A PnW Summer Economic Expose! War Profiteering has often been an extremely profitable venture, especially when there are multiple uninvolved parties selling to the fighters. This summer we saw PnW's (non-duplicated) total money sums pass half a trillion dollars for the first time on June 2nd. Alex's food-costing project update, combined with mini-sphere wars 'for fun', and finally World War Salt itself has pushed war profiteering global commerce to new heights! Between Alex's new project update and the beginning of Surf's Up, the world collectively made 70 billion sheepcoins from selling now-hyper-valued food. Once Surf's Up was declared, the world's resource hoarders once again minted sheepcoins by the billions to the tune of 85.7 billion between Surf's Up and World War Salt! Since then (June 16th) we've only seen monetary reserves inflate, albeit at a slower rate, by another 44.5 billion sheepcoins. Just to recap: That's 200 billion sheepcoins gained since May 8th - A ~33% increase in the world's monetary supply in 3 months. But while the financial sector is booming, the Dow-Roberts Industrial Index has not fared well during wartime. Summertime Stagnation is upon us. Since roughly July 1st we've seen every single raw resources flatline in terms of production: Coal, oil, bauxite, uranium, iron, lead - all making very little gains and some small losses in global supply. This isn't to mention the obvious - war is eating manufactured resources like hotcakes. Global steel, munitions, gasoline, and aluminum supplies have declined 30-40% across the board. Yet hope still remains deep in the recesses of the world graphs... Food has finally begun to produce net positive again! You heard me right. After months of being eaten like locusts descending on a field, we have finally seen a full week of positive food production again on Orbis. This is only after half the global supply was devoured by the ravenous swarm. Will positive production continue? Probably, says one guy I asked. For those of us waiting for prices to finally drop to buy the damned projects, here's hoping. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of "wow look at those numbers" by Roberts. I added gifs to this one so your short attention spans would be sated.

  4. So I was considering something, and I think I realized something really interesting. All the intended parties(BK, TCW, TGH, KT, TKR, CoS, and NPO) all achieved their war goals with this war, albeit at different times of the war. KT/TGH/TKR wanted to incapacitate BK sphere for targeting them. They are, and you could honestly say that FA-wise, they lost a lot of allies and meatshields, so this war crippled their FA pull. BK/TCW wanted to incapacitate the 2 smaller spheres, they did so, they achieved their goals as KTsphere and Chaos can’t realistically fight them anytime soon. NPO wanted to incapacitate KTsphere and Chaos from being able to roll NSOsphere post war. While their may be smaller things, this is what every sphere wanted. Sooooo why can’t everyone end the war and move on? It’s literally gotten to the point where everyone won what they wanted.

  6. This. If I cannot quote Sphinx and Leo and extend their statements to the rest of the coalition, which in no place has actually countered what they've stated, you all can't keep parroting Sketchy's words, which high leadership of our coalition has stated they do not agree with, and extend them to our coalition. Play the same game.

  10. The game is very lame with species, using the Earth-neutral noun "human" that extraterrestrials detest. It might be nice to be able to specify species; i.e, to state that you are an ayy lmao, nematode, crabman, or android from 2142 and force the game to use the relevant nouns.

  11. Singling out specific posts to justify this as a "death match" is pretty blatant spin. Our side was never in a position to make this a "death match" because it is another dogpile perpetuated by your sphere. Also it's not a "gotcha" post when I am asking somebody to clarify their position. We have to do that because you never actually do, instead you rely on secret CBs and secret protectorate agreements that are so confusing that not even your allies understand what you are doing.

  16. There were two main people who said anything along these lines of a death match. And there have been more than that, really, who have said they would be willing to come to the table and that it wasn't a death match. So this "rhetoric" isn't really a rhetoric from our side. It's rhetoric from individuals that you either just want to consider our main voice to keep your propaganda/shenanigans going, or you actually take Sketchy at his absolute word as the be all end all voice for the entire side. Which, quite frankly, is really funny to me. Because... ya know. I like Sketchy. But he's a bit of a Troll.

  17. Again: Last war, BK's leader laughed about making people quit the game. That was not a death match of survival for IQ, especially not in your tier. You had a numerical advantage, and that is what you elected to do with it. It clearly did not offend you then, and considering how far out of your way you went in this war to help BK again, well... Maybe that is informing people's decisions on this war more than anything Sketchy said? Since, you know, it was literally first. You're not being forced to be toxic and you're not being forced to try and drive people you don't like out of the game. It's a choice. It's one I think your alliance would be wise to back down from, because I think you'd pretty quickly find that people like Sketchy are being shouted down by the people on our side with sense, anyway (unless, of course, you're merely trying to trump up his comments to attempt to justify your own actions... but you wouldn't do that, Roq, would you?).

  18. Honestly, taking advice from under of all people on who not to engage with is a tad silly, considering it's typically wise not to bother engaging with his endless trolling either. It's like if a con-artist master thief is telling you to fear the rogue house burglars the next neighborhood over while he steals your neighbor's life savings.

  19. I haven't had the chance to reply to this until now, but It's not ignoring. It was pointed out in other words that it would just be a he said she said thing. I've not taken Adrienne up on her offer to play it out as of yet as in the current atmosphere, it will have virtually no impact. It would be odd to me if that was the sum of her conversations that evening with people who arrived at that conclusion. Not really sure why you expect tons of engagement while simultaneously labeling people as nutjobs or postfactual. it might play well here with the circlejerk. So I'm starting to think under was right and it's a mistake to engage these types of propaganda claims in good faith. It's basically another example of a denial of a basic fact: plenty of nations in range were freed up and becoming freed up. A bunch of 25-32 city nations were in range of hitting anyone our size. Yes, Buorhann, Chaos' 18-30 city tier was totally occupied fighting BK/Cov(the statpad or high city guys with no mil are so tough yeah) and the coalition totally had no one to counter . It has nothing to do with Nizam being an evil mastermind. You could have discussed future plans with her for all I know. Also I'm not really prefacing it on it being N$O as a whole. There are a few different ways it plays out. Coalition eventually moves to bail out Guardian, or one of the spheres moves to hit one alliance and then see what happens. Some people could have been counting on drops at some point as well. I don't really want to speculate on the specific action plans as there are plenty of plausible ways it could have happened. We delayed doing anything out of respect for the wishes of the other alliances. The window for doing anything was closing fast and the hostility was increasing. This whole thing where we should let whatever people said slide and wait for them to have the ability to act as if it didn't reflect their true opinions wasn't going to work. If it wasn't turning into a completely lop-sided war, we would have had no compulsion to act in a rush.

  25. As someone who disapproves of PC culture and bending over because someone is offended, I personally welcome this alliance. Many alliances, groups, games, etc hold alliances, nations, and the such with themes derived from a multitude of cultures, government types, and history that all include bad shit. Being an American and someone who not only celebrates history, but enjoys history as a thing that shouldn't be forgotten, erased, or shit on - but remembered, celebrated, and learned from - there ain't nothing wrong with a confederate themed alliance. Just like there ain't nothing wrong with a soviet, chinese, communist, socialist, nazi themed alliance. There is a line between a theme and actually pushing rhetoric of hate. Just because you as a person are weak and are told something is bad and should be erased doesn't mean it needs to be. You can disagree and share an opinion, but pushing for something to go away because you are awfully uneducated isn't how it works. Additionally, shouting at newer alliances that happen to be small isn't any way to act in a community - micros quite literally never appear on the radar of larger alliances in terms of actual gameplay unless they do some dumb stuff and raid - in which case, just play the game. New people and new alliances should never be made to feel unwelcome in this community. The community should grow and prosper. That being said, there needs to be a way to organize. Back in my day of moderation, albeit there were some shit moderators who moderated incorrectly, things were kept pretty simple. This new moderation team has allowed for certain things to happen which in my experience only happens when someone cannot separate their moderation identity from their in-game identity. Swifter moderation and moderators who actually cruise the forums is what is needed to move things before they derail out of control like this thread. Separating forums was something I've always been against, however at this time it would seem that it is the best option - My suggestion would be to separate by alliance rank. Normally, those within the higher ranks are more relevant politically with relevance dropping as you move further down the list. The issue here would be alliances dropping in rank in war...but if you did something like top 50 alliance affairs forum vs the next 50, that covers 100 alliances. So maybe just 3 forums tiered by rank for news. This should create an easy system for moderators to simply move to the desired category.............instead of micro tags or a simple micro forum, because as @Alex said, which I agree, defining micro is a bit broad.

  27. I disagree with you here. What's their experience in this game? They do nothing but log in and buy their pixels. It is fun to grow in cities, land, and infra, but eventually they gets boring. Are they really having fun with the game? I imagine they're also very fragile. What would happen if DB and RnR got hit really hard? Got sat on for a while? How would their community perform? Would they shed a lot of members? They probably would. There's no resilience there. I don't think they've been outsmarting anyone. I do think their government might deserve praise for being able to avoid war for so long. That is rather difficult to pull off. However, I think it's all very brittle and there's no virtue in a house of cards. Sorry if this post reads weird. For some reason my thinking is very fragmented rn lol.

  29. @Memph, Apparently you haven't heard: The True The Vanguard is completely and utterly victorious over the false Polaris. Their might knows no bounds, their greatness is heard across Orbis. They bring justice on swift wings to those pretenders, those slanderers, those withering liars in the false Polaris. They who pretend to carry the great banner of The True The Vanguard cannot hide behind their fake news any longer. The Fake Polaris claims to be dignified, to be enduring, but their foolish leadership continuously builds their infra beyond what any sane nation ought to do. They provoke the wrath of The True The Vanguard over and over again by building further and further into the score range of their enemies. With their bank looted and the beiges rolling in, they have surely been brought low once and for all. They claim independence but they bow at the feet of their hamster overlord in secret meetings. They have no free will, no dignity, and no honor. The True The Vanguard has shown them just how sensitive and desperate for a safe space they are. Tl;dr: The Fake Polaris cannot hope to contend with how awesome The True The Vanguard is. They need to get over themselves.

  31. Yeah he paid me back from his winnings. Otherwise I would've repo'd his nation..... lucky bastard. I can't speak for the rest of the stuff but that's how he grew to 22 cities. I also loaned at the same time another $2b loan to Alexio. EDIT: For the record he's beaten me pretty decisively to 30 cities. I built my 30th at 786 days old, EM did it 650 days. Not sure how he did it quicker than me, since I was at peace for 15 months in Pantheon and sold every single thing I had so I didn't have a WC the entire time, but doesn't really concern me, congrats EM.

  35. If there is no proof showing Blink's involvement, then I believe this, Blink has always been a good boi and I too think he'd call Pooball out. I prefer if he was unbanned as well.
    1 point
  36. I think Pdunny's points were completely overlooked. 200+ billion was cheated in and 300 million was given to Blink, as a loan with full proof. Blink took less than 0.0015% of the money, hardly significantly at all. If any foul play was actually taking place then transactions far larger than this would of taken place surely - it just seems absurd to me that you actually think this makes him guilty. He has been in TKR for over a year and we've seen enough pictures of him, his family and children along with even pictures of himself and pooball (no it wasn't a mirror photo) to be certain that he isn't a multi and that he was unaware of what was going on. I don't think Akuryo should get banned for this, but without a doubt there is more reason for him to get banned. Innocent till proven guilty is the system that we use in the modern world, seems like Orbis is in the stone ages regarding this. Blink clearly just wants to clear his name and reroll, if he was so fussed about money etc he would know there is no hope of getting his nation back and taken more than 0.0015% of the Nova Riata payday. I'm pretty sure he's even willing to show his real id and everything to prove it and so on your part, Alex, i think above all else this just looks bad for you. You have done something nobody was asking for and seemingly few people agree with and have made a dent into clearing up the 200bn+ that entered the market. If someone wants to clear their name, with no real proof connecting them to the cheating (a loan means absolutely nothing in my eyes at least) and just reroll then I don't see what harm there is in letting this happen. --- Surely this has also revealed an exploit to you. Regarding the unverified thing - I think despite them knowing each other it just shows flaws in the system. If two people worked at the same place but weren't aware of it and one of those players started a bank and then the other player asked for money, it would just look like a multi transaction. If anything this has just highlighted the issues, verification isn't a very well known thing, seems that most of the ban appeals in this subforum are regarding it (or the lack of it) so maybe a system to remind people to renew their verification or a tool that tells you to verify if someone else starts playing on your IP when you next log in after they signup/use ip for the first time. Seems like many failures have taken place as surely it shouldn't have even let a 300 million sum be sent and if it was sent then this should have been picked up on, just like the 200bil+ cash injection into the game... edit 1: tl;dr if you are going to ban Blink, which you shouldn't then the verification system needs significant reform to make it well known, highly utilised and efficient. Get more moderators/anti-cheat systems while you're at it as 200bil+ being added to the game shouldn't have gone unnoticed. edit 2: Firstly not defending Pooball. Pooball didn't originally have bad intentions with the exploit from Niz's post that was a relay from him - link below - assuming this is all true, firstly you doubted him on something that you could literally see happen in the game and then when he messaged you again you didn't even reply to him. What kind of precedent does this display to someone who wants to report an exploit if somebody who didn't abuse it was ignored and it wasn't fixed then somebody who threatened to use it as blackmail and posted it all over the forums after sending it to you receives no punishment and gets a ton of attention. Not a very good one. I'm not trying to be overly critical but obviously I will be as there is good reason to be - the fact that such a massive cash injection wasn't noticed is just appalling.

  37. Hi, Poo. I do not agree with your actions. I don't think I ever will. I don't know how much of what you have attempted to tell us is true, what is false and what is not, but if even half of that which Nizam has relayed is true, I think I can understand why you did it. It does not make it any better, but it helps rationalize it more than just, "You were a greedy bastard". There were inconsistencies in how you spawned those resources, as well as how you used them, and I am not sure whether you apparently using them to keep your members happy is a good thing, or something that makes this situation worse. You could have stopped when you recovered the losses (I sincerely doubt your members invested amounts exceeding $200bn, to pretend otherwise is complete and utter bullshit), but you didn't. That was greed. I am sad that an alliance, which by all other means was doing well for itself, has to be erased from Orbis' map because of the poor decisions made by leadership, and to some extent I can relate (lol). I have seen many people on offsite properties as well as the forum clamoring for 'justice'; I don't think anyone will readily forgive you. Some will never forgive you. Most will never forget. But your membership doesn't deserve to take the brunt of your actions. Collective responsibility was completed when their cities were deleted, their alliance effectively disbanded, and their remaining membership was rolled to dust, left without protector or ally. Justice is more than just the introduction of negative consequences that seek to punish - justice implies a greater sense for good. Our goal must be to prevent, and to restore. I won't fault people for not taking your members in, I know I would be suspicious - perhaps even to the point where I refuse to admit them in my alliance. I have been approached by people throughout yesterday (it is 2:42 AM for me at the moment) inquiring about certain players' activities, in which I've done my best to allow cases of admission to be made for each of them. I hope Nova's community, which comprises first of its people, not of its leaders, neither its bank, nor its alliance proper is able to recover and find new homes to continue playing this game, and that this serves as a lesson for others to not indulge cheating and cheaters, no matter how bad the situation looks. As for Blink, that is an unfortunate situation that rests beyond our control, both as a product of negligence on behalf of you both and ill-thought decisions made on both sides, ours and yours. I hope one day the prospect of him coming back will be entertained. Close the chapter. Restore. Move on. Farewell Pooball, take care in the realm beyond the Great Server.

Nova in the last month or so has... - Declared on Pantheon (very impressive) - Claimed victory over Panth despite Pantheon not agreeing to any peace terms and still declaring on them (Clearly, the new meta strat to win wars) - Been exposed for cheating, and earned a cb with all alliances, to get their arses handed to them. Hopefully, the next step is to disband
