  1. Except a C37 can't downdeclare on a C20 easily (and if memory serves me right, Sphinx wasn't max air when he did his rodeo either. Again, there's a lot of context that's being deliberately left out for narrative purposes). If the C20 inflates himself to that point, then quite frankly that's on him for stacking too many tanks and ships, which are seldom if at all ever worth it due to their expense and fairly lacking utility. Meanwhile, the extreme NS compression that has been ongoing makes it difficult if not nigh-impossible for a similarly sized nation to hit said NS compressed nation and for it to be able to avoid or mitigate the chances of retaliation, thanks to absurd updeclare ranges. Ironically enough, it makes it so that only whale-sized nations can downdeclare with relative safety (safety, not ease), both because they have the upfront planes to both more quickly neutralize whoever they're hitting alongside tanking any potential counters better, and because of more substantial double buys which would make it easier for them to buy out of range. However, to insinuate that such downdeclares are easy to pull off is mere delusion. At an NS range of 2350 (about average for C20 people with wartime (800) infra, max air, and an usual amount of projects (5) ), the downdeclare range is 3133 NS. Someone at 28 cities and at 800 infra, with only planes and 5 projects (which is about the standards I'm going with) can't even hit that range. They'd need to either sell infra (I'll touch on infra in a moment), some projects, or planes. And obviously, that's 2350, and not the even lower ranges that are possible with infra selling/buying shenanigans which we've seen in this war so far. And of course, that's merely city 28. The larger they are the higher the lower ceiling is. Quite frankly, with the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if it became meta in the future to simply preemptively sell your infra down to 1500 or lower. Hence, I don't think that it's much of an issue in on itself. With that said, I do think that infra should be relatively more rigid on both acquisition and selling. The hegemonic trends as of late have been from the bottom and the middle, not the top. Alex has simply not caught up to that fact yet. No, that 700 have been able to fight 1400 and whale tier is (relatively) unscathed, is a testament to the ineptitude of said 1400. Especially given context that's being deliberately omitted to drive the narrative. A solid 40% of Coalition A's forces were at half strength at best, yet that contingent managed to bring down one of the heaviest hitters of Coalition B on the outset of the blitz, alongside busying up it's partner. The alliances that came on the days that followed the blitz came in piecemeal, which resulted in them being picked off; that is the real reason why they were ineffectual. It was a strategic mishandling of assets from Coalition B, not the overpowering capabilities of the upper tier in Coalition A. Besides, the slowness has more to do with a desire on Coalition B to play it long term, rather than a true mechanical impairment. I've seen plenty of people bragging about how this will go for months, so... Pick that 2350 NS C20 I mentioned earlier. Shove him down to 2040 because of 300 infra/city and dropped projects. New downdeclare range is 2720. Guy keeps losing daily planes so he drops a bit further. Now he's at 1890 NS. New downdeclare range is now 2520 (and he'll keep dropping further with subsequent attacks). Pick the aforementioned C28. Have him also drop to 300 infra/city and the two projects. 2860 NS. That's about 680 planes he needs to drop to get in range. The sale of planes leaves him without reserves, and not even max air. That opens him up to be picked off. Again, that's with a mere C28. It gets worse with the larger nations. It's also critical to mention that mass infra imports weren't a thing when this scenario was ongoing. Which meant that, thanks to the generous ranges, the C20 was not bothered by the amount of time it took to sell down to 300 infra, while for the C28 it's a several-minutes window where he can be hit in turn, because at 300 infra he obviously can't buy up planes to the max. And obviously, it takes longer for the C28 to build said infra simply because he has more cities. Even longer downtime for larger nations which left a wider window open for retaliation. So no, it's not just a matter of "lol you didn't try hard enough". There's an actual mechanical inhibition behind it. Which doesn't even cover the economic expense. I'm also seeing plenty of cherrypicked examples being used here arguing about savage downdeclares, in particular Ripper's. Which is not an example, but a flat-out lie. For starters, Ripper isn't even at 34 cities, but 32. Furthermore, since Moon didn't bother to mention which war he was talking about, I dug through his wars and the only one that was close to that was one with NPO, where he obviously had to drop substantial amounts of military to get in range (down to mid 3400's), thus disproving the notion that he was max mil at the time, but he also did it hours after reset which meant he didn't double buy out of range. At most he had day and half's worth of tanks and ships. All of his other wars were at 3k ns base for the targets, and the Yakuzas he hit at the onset of the blitz had ground. Again, that runs counter to his claim. Meanwhile, 4200 NS can be declared on by 2400 NS. Do I need to say more?

  2. Hello everyone this is first post of House Arryn Alliance. As BK declare war on us, so it's our responsibility to give them a big gift (how to respect other). I know BK reserve the right to attack enamy alliance and their Ally's. But I think young people feel bad when old person come and give them extra knowledge like BK. Idk what is problame with BK. House Arryn have neutral stand in this war. I'm not Post too much as this is my first time doing this kind of silly thing because of one stupid alliance which think they are best Idk they get enough food in real life. BK show their total overdose. Best of luck for hungry ? BK fungry (unknown word hear from neighbor) members. Finally no one understand this ??

  3. That's an incredibly reductive and therefore inaccurate way to view it. The proposal changes score only of cities. For most nations in the game, their score is primarily consisted of infrastructure and military. Your example requires none of both to even be relevant, which alone should be an indicator of how nonsensical what you're saying is. It should also be mentioned, you're not even addressing the right line. The one Alex is actually considering put's a c30s score for cities at around ~1100. Why keep it the way it is? Because it benefits you? It certainly doesn't benefit the city 10s and 11s i've been building up who are now wondering what sort of black magic has resulted in city 20s with max planes and 2000 score declaring on them. It's so interesting that you're all so very concerned it might happen to you and claim your concern is in line with balance and game health, while simultaneously not giving a single shit about the fact that you're already doing it to people even less built up and even less glorified by age with wealth and cities than you are. One might even think, with such noble concerns, you might stop doing it. One would be wrong, because of course you and your leadership will simply shrug, say "tactics bro dont hate" and "lol all y'all can just sell down anyway haha it doesnt matter". As much as you people rag on about how whales are bad for the game, you completely miss that what you've been doing is even worse. In an amusingly ironic twist, you guys are actually complaining right now, that your enemy might take you up on your offer. I imagine it's because this time it actually poses a significant threat to you, rather than being some meager taunt you throw out. So frankly, as far as i'm concerned, even if it does lead to this doomsday scenario you spelled out, oh no? You have to get hit with your own sword, how awful? You might have to change strategies and actually fight toe-to-toe in your own tier, rather than flee to the lower tiers, how dreadful? No more roflstomping city 10s in groups of 3 c18s with your max planes and 1800 score, what a tragedy? You get the point here. You think you can come up with a better solution that stops you from doing what you're so afraid of happening to you, feel free to share. I don't have one myself currently, so the best horse for me to back is one that sees you get dosed with the same shit i do. And remember, the only reason this is a problem brought up at all, is specifically because you flee from your own tier, to hide in the low tiers, and roflstomp c10s with max planes while being immune to any real counter attack because there's a wall of like 350 of you all doing the same exact thing. If it would be wrong and not in the best interest of the game for whales to be capable of and do it to you, then you must understand, the same applies if you do it unto others. Now, all of you, quit complaining you might have to face your own slayer, and come up with a better way that sees you avoiding that confrontation, and also stops your usage of the exact same thing, at a lower level.

  4. Sheepy has been a bit busy, but I know one of the changes he wants to address is calculation of nation score. This process, hoping to be gradual changes (change one or two things, then after that if that seems like an improvement change one or two things more), needs a large feedback from the community IMO and thus why I wanted to create this thread and start the ball rolling. One thing I know will change is the impact of cities on score. Currently going from city 1 to 2 gives you a 100% increase in your max capabilities to field units. There's a 66.6% increase from 2-3. However from city 20 to 21 you're looking at about a 5% increase. Lower cities count for a much greater possible jump for strength than higher, thus Sheepy wants to introduce a sliding scale for cities impact on score. Here's a graph he made to help show what a possible sliding scale might look like. The x-axis is the number of cities, and the y-axis is the score total from the number of cities you have. The black, straight line represents the current model. The black, curved line with green dots represents what he's considering. The other lines are more extreme options. As you can see cities 2-16 will have a greater increase in score compared to our current system. City 17 will put you at the same level that we currently have, then all cities after 17 will have a diminishing impact on score. This will limit some of the declare ranges on smaller nations fighting smaller nations. Making it harder for someone with 9 cities to declare on someone with 6 cities in some cases, which is a 33% difference in possible military capabilities. This does little to impact larger nations as score/declare ranges are much larger as their city score often represents somewhere between 15%-30% of their strength. Diminishing that by 5% to something like 10%-25% will have little impact the higher you go. Thoughts on the city aspect? I also want to hear what parts of score you think need adjusting? Should military impact be changed? If so what? Planes need to increase more strength? tanks less? Navy more? soldiers less? Etc.. Should infra be brought onto a sliding scale? the first 1500 infra is much more important on your military fielding capacity than the next 1500? Should nukes/missiles be on a sliding scale? Having 0 nukes is much different than having 50, how different is having 50 from 100? Or 100 to 200? Should some projects come with a score increase? Please get back to me with your ideas and thoughts, thanks. tl;dr Changes to the score system might be coming. I want the communities input. If you care about that, please read the thread and give input an any number of the bullet points or anything outside of that you come up with.

  5. It all worked out in the end. Whilst some people won't understand our motivation for joining the war it did have a influence in us gaining a protector and we also learnt alot from the experience. Regardless the experience was fun. We had some great exchanges with both people we had been fighting aswell as people who were fighting with us, some salty and some friendly. It was good fun and we're left with alot of respect for everyone involved. We would also like to thank everyone for their kind words. Hopefully more smaller micros come out and join in the next war.

  6. Yeah it's a bizarre situation, but I respect them for choosing to fight when they had no skin in the game and could have easilly stayed out. I'm not sure how much truth there is to the claims they were looking for a protector, bit I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to find one after demonstrating activity and willingness to fight.

  9. Currently, if you win a nation vs nation war, you have no dictation over what happens next. Often, the beige timer that your opponent is going to get will leave them better off than if you didn't win the war at all- especially if there's no money to loot. Instead, I would suggest that as part of the act of winning a war, the victor should be able to declare terms. These terms could include all the things that currently happen, and more (and these are just ideas and examples); Loot from the nation, Loot from the alliance bank, Not being able to declare new wars for a period of time, Enforced debt (i.e. a portion of the opponents tax income is taken and handed to the victor until it is paid off), Not being able to buy military units above a certain percentage for some time, Forcible conscription of some opposing surviving military units, Destruction of infrastructure, Destruction of improvements (at random, so we can't forcibly choose hangars or power plants). A beige timer would still exist, but the number of turns spent in beige would depend on the harshness of the terms inflicted. Therefore, if you won the war, and you chose to not attach terms, the beige timer should be relatively short (for example, 6 turns). If you won the war and decided to inflict as many terms as possible, the beige timer would be much longer. The value of the terms inflicted, and thus the length of the beige timer, should be capped at no more than the percentage of resistance you won the war by. If you won by 6 resistance or less, you wouldn't be able to select any terms; if you won by 20, you'd be able to select maybe one thing, if you won by 50, something harsher, etc. These changes are one possible idea, I'm sure there's other better ones to be thought of.

  10. From the desk of Pragglesan Fraggle The greatest nation of Exorock Greetings, Friends! If you browse the forums, you might have seen that the greatest nation of Exorock has been betrayed. The prisoners of war brought in by the warfraggles could not be trusted with operational security. As we speak, I am nurturing a horrifying gaping wound in my back. A knife the size of a hippo's you-know-what sticks out. For those of you who have seen the hippo's e-you-know-what... you will understand the pain poor Pragglesan is going through today! Are you not following, friend? Let's rewind! A few days ago, Good friend Fraggle was appointed to take stock of prisoner affairs. She, along with loyal jester warfraggles brought in a steady stream of prisoners. These prisoners were entrusted with key operational secrets. "Fraggle friend!" I said. "Are you sure we should give away our dreams and desires so easily?". "Yes friend Pragglesan! These are loyal men!" She replied. I dared not say more. For fraggle has more nukes than I! Days later, they came. I was dragged out of my office and interned in the badly maintained camp. A coup! A coup had happened! I could not believe my eyes, friends! My alliance has forsaken me! And the mastermind behind it? Wembley Snake Fraggle! The traitor! The warmonger! She wants nothing but war and destruction! I was quite happy to continue the good fight along my best friends and allies, TKR, GOB and Guardian, friends! But Wembley bloody Fraggle had other designs! She wanted us to flip sides! I did not quite understand. But I suppose it's true. I have spent a long time thinking about these events. Should I give up and accept the fate of Terminal Jest as the hijacked joke? Should I lay down my arms and surrender TJEst's integrity to a cruel dictator? I can not! I will not! And so, we continue the good fight, friends. We, the People's Jest Resistance Force do declare our existence today. We fight a guerilla war of attrition until our demands are met! Many have done the right thing and joined us in our righteous fight, recognizing the people's sovereignty and declaring on the Fraggle armies. https://politicsandwar.com/alliance/id=5741 For the people!

  12. This is the opposite of what should be done. City scores should be doubled or tripled as a whole. 37 city nations shouldn't be able to down declare 20 city nations so easily, and yet you want them to be able to hit a few cities lower? Infra score is meh but reducing it only makes it easier to have massive down declares. @Alex has repeatedly said he doesn't want to make it possible for bigger nations to maintain a hegemony. The fact that 1400 nations have been fighting 700 for a month and the whale tier in the latter has yet to really be touched shows how difficult it is to actually fight large nations currently. In fact if the larger coalition didn't have a bailout of a few hundred more nations that have come/gone the larger coalition would have lost. Quite literally the only reason the smaller coalition full of whales /didn't/ win is because their largest nations didn't sell down and fight the mid tier.

  13. I'm working on it :p. The city change seems like a fair enough change. I'd say put it out on the test server to see how it plays out. For military NS, it depends on the unit you're talking about. Due to the sheer versatility and efficacy of aircraft, I do think that the NS needs to be increased (basically doubled). As for tanks and ships, I'd rather see them have more utility than the one they do at the moment, which I think would be preferable to an NS reduction. Infra and project sliding seems unnecessary to me. 1500 base infra is not really necessary for military either. It's the minimum barebones econ setup, but not the mil one. Nuke and missile sliding is also not something I see as being necessary, because the substantial upkeep expense from a large stockpile already deters most people from piling up any appreciable amount. Obviously, bullet points 2 through 5 should only be tested after seeing how the city NS changes affect the overall ranges.

  18. So right now i think we all agree that Planes are the strongest unit in the game, as shown by people claiming that plane counts are a good indicator of who is winning and who is losing, and by the fact that people now fight wars with plane only military strategies. Due to the over powering nature of planes, I feel that they should be worth more score wise. Right now in a city, a full complement of ships is 30 NS, tanks is 62.5 and planes is 45. I think we should double the ns score of planes to be equal to 90 NS. Aka I think we should double how much score a plane counts for. I feel like this change will give planes their proper weight in terms of their military importance, and it "may" just force people to use all of their military to fight rather than just their planes. Also side note, I still believe that as a larger city, I should be able to declare war on anyone that can declare war on me. So up declare range should be limited to 1.33 x their score not 1.75x, or the down declare range should be .5x score, and not .75x score.

Whatever the meaning of the word, if they've demonstrated activity and willingness to fight then all that's left is technical instruction and experience, and then they'd be as invulnerable as anyone else. 25. If your goal is to help widen the war ranges in the lower tiers where you claim these changes will have the most effect, then simply increase the value of cities in the score formula. This change is overly complicating things and, as others mentioned, would cause a new problem in the upper tier. Increase score for cities flatly and everyone's ranges will widen out.

  26. The implication therein is that you are familiar with both war mechanics and how wars develop in globals. Given your nation age, it's quite reasonable to assume that you are not. But you're a reroll, so that argument is invalid regardless. Having said that, I don't agree with what Noctis stated; score is far from a perfect metric for military capability, and in general will favour mass-member alliances, and thus not be reflective of one's current military power. (You can however, say that despite the war [x alliances] managed to retain their ranks - given that the vast majority of infra bloat is gone, one must assume that the left-behind NS is far more representative of military units available.Even then, I would argue that due to the nature of mass-member alliances, score is diluted further - and military power is too -; it's a stupid argument to try and make. Further, winning somehow being a product of merely the quantity of military units in one side is a laughable concept too.) Anyway, welcome back. Hope you're having fun with the game.

  31. Those at the top will likely always remain at the top due to the city advantage they have. In wars they fight less (this isn't to say they don't lose a lot), they have a bigger income etc. If you want people at the top to change then we need dynamic caps to slow their growth and allow those smaller to catch up or make it so that past a certain amount of infra/cities upkeep get's even more expensive. Maybe some kind of ahead penalty. Increasing score from aircraft will also push the one's at the top higher in score, meaning it is harder to up-declare and thus allowing those at the top to stay at the top.

  43. Since time immemorial there has been one symbol of hope. A symbol of intelligence. A symbol of sex appeal. A symbol of modesty. The Sloth. But in recent times, their power has faded. While once the destroyers of worlds, they are now seen as cuddly pets who typically die while defecating. It is time for that to change. Smith, a sloth with a scowling, withered leather mask of a face, testily complained to another sloth as the pair lounged beneath a verdant canopy. “What do we do about this one?” asked the grumpy mammal. He was gesturing towards a dopey looking sloth named Ameyuri. “She can’t even climb a tree. A sloth that can’t climb trees! We’ll be the laughing stock of the world!” His partner remained silent, giving his friend time to ramble on. “My ancestors conquered nations, brought empires to their knees. This one can’t even climb a tree!” he raged. “You know Ameyuri has a drug problem,” his partner Redarmy replied, winking. “But I agree, the Sloths are not what they once were. Perhaps it is time to change that. Perhaps it is time to collectivize the sloth.” With this mission in mind the two Sloths set off to unite their kind. They travelled to the land of Baked Goods where they recruited the Cat Stealing Cupcake Sloth. To the sticky land of Bondage where they untangled the Shark and Cube Sloths. Even to the orest where they recruited the paper-eating fox sloths. Soon they were a full-fledged legion. Redarmy hung from a branch to address his newly formed army: “Comrades, it is natural for those to fear what they do not understand. To lash out at the unknown and seek to destroy it. Many will see our furry faces and wish us harm. But we will overcome!” https://discord.gg/YBcUTMU join us
