  1. You got raided bro, welcome to Orbis. I don't know whats with your talk like this was some diplomatic incident on the verge of being settled before we "broke the truce" lol. You are an 8 man AA with no protectors, no major allies, and some juicy nations, so I raided you. You tried to solve it diplomatically, I can respect that, but Blake made it clear we're raiding you. You can be indignant about it, rant at us about how we're breaking some great taboo and are just another arrgh or w/e you were on about (pro tip, almost all alliances raid), but its not going to get you anywhere. You should probably have taken a hint from when your other member Gavin got raided by Cerberus a few days ago. That got settled in part because for the hell of it I decided to hit them over it and all in all it wasn't worth the effort. But you guys are probably going to want to find a larger protector or ally who can deter these sorts of things. Right or wrong (and frankly, this is a game, I dont think morals come into basic gameplay) you're going to want to find a protector or a larger ally who can help deter these things. Either way I can respect the decision to fight back, but tbh this is only going to continue until you find yourselves more firepower. We were just one of the first to notice the catch just waiting to be hooked. Edit: You should probably also tell your members to keep a non 0 amount of munitions. Their planes, tanks and ships aren't worth a whole hell of a lot if they can't fire their guns.

  2. Band of the Hawk Declares War against Seven Kingdom Cause: Anti Raiding Operations Mid day on Feb 2 multiple attackers from SK attacked a member of the Band of the Hawk unprovoked. The member defended themselves via nuclear deterrent. After approaching an officer within the SK leadership to defuse the situation the Band of Hawk member was told to send a truce to SK for them to accept it. Just a little while ago the truce was broke by another strike against the same member of my alliance. I have tried the diplomatic way to handle this situation and it failed. To that end with the breakdown of the truce and the continued attacks I have had no choice but seek a direct method of getting the point across...I have declared war on the King of SK directly. The Band of the Hawk will NOT tolerate such actions against its membership. I do not care what rank your alliance is or how many members you have...an unwarranted unprovoked attack that is a raid can not be tolerated. Signed, Eugene Faulkner II, Lord of the Band of the Hawks

  4. I love it when other alliances legalize raiding and admit they have the guts to raid only small, unprotected alliances. Damn those pirates though...

  5. helpful hint, when declaring a war on a guy that has you dominated in air, but you have him on ground you should open with a ground attack to even out the air odds, and not a naval attack.

  6. (1): Tell that to Partisan (2): I’d like to point out that certain competent alliances already practice or have practiced similar policies. That said, yes, the majority do not follow the same principles. There are quite a few reasons. One cause is that command economies are a hassle to work with if your Econ guy is incompetent. You’ll just end up doing things that are counter productive to overall growth. Secondly, the distinction that certain people fail to draw between NPO and “other groups” is where the memberbase comes from, and what main motivation is there for that memberbase to stay. Higher taxes tend to decrease activity (something discussed ad nauseam); but NPO isn’t necessarily affected by that issue when you take into consideration the crossover of other games in regards to the general member. Many of the people it hosts are either members of Pacifica in other realms, are aligned to Pacifica, or have at some point in time played with Pacifica. These guys have less incentive to move out of a community they’re already entrenched in, or are seeking to become a part of. That’s in fact a big selling point of NPO; multiple games, one community to enjoy them with. Then, you look at the time it took for an alliance like NPO to come to where it is now — most other alliances neither have the same level of loyalty from its members (something that is more a byproduct of the long standing community Pacifica possesses and has promoted through the one and a half decade its existed), and simply can not expect their memberbase to stick with them under such policies. (Individual growth matters more to a lot of people than overall alliance growth) We also take into consideration the considerable time and effort people like Roq have put in to get here — taxation policies and schemes aren’t the only reason they exist as they do right now. The majority of people (including me at times) are far too impulsive to play the long game. Finally, we must also look at something you already pointed out: the exponentially increasing cost of cities, and linear increase in income per city bought. Due to this, command economies take far longer to yield the same results as you go up if you do not already have a sufficiently existing quantity of high income nations; without taking loans it becomes even harder. (3): Their coordinatated growth exists more as a product of their economic policies, than purely the tax rate. To elaborate, the tax rate itself could be st 100/100 for the longest period of time, and there would still be a possibility that growth wouldn’t be coordinated. I have seen many people dump money on upper tier nations when there are several low tier nations that would give significantly greater returns on each dollar spent; NPO in that regard does not commit itself to something as stupid. It scales x amount of nations up at the same time, which is (obviously) possible due to their tax rate, but only made a reality due to careful planning and patience. I think people often neglect the need for micromanagement of nations. (4): Perhaps not to the same fanatical level of growth planning, but a slightly watered down version has been achieved without such high taxes, re:Mensa HQ. There are many parallels that can be drawn between the two (offsite influx of members, long standing community etc.), but the main difference between the two is perhaps the willingness to go upwards even when everything might not be the most stable, or safe. There are a lot more reasons as to why Mensa accomplished similar results, which can be studied at a later date (its 6:36 AM and I’m on mobile right now, xdxd) (5): Theres a lot more that goes into creating an “invincible phalanx” than just coordinated growth. Activity, the desire to not budge when pushed, and an overarching desire to win the long game are all necessary. The good thing about losing wars is that you weed out the pixel huggers — this way, your chain is kept strong and the weak links are cut. These things we can’t entirely quantify accurately, but we can definitely observe at war time. As a side note, perhaps it’s also not as much about their doctrines than what they can provide to their members (see the above mentioned points in (2). ——————————- It’s 6:44 AM as I’m typing this out, and I’ve slept a grand total of 2 hours, there might be errors which I might get to fixing later.

  7. The end of the Durmstrang Institute The Durmstrang Wizarding Institute had met its final hour. Headmaster Seb sighed as he looked over the damning Ofsted report that threatened to close his academy due to the apparently abhorrent ‘grooming techniques’ used by him and his staff. It seemed so weird to him that educational regulatory bodies were now able to ruin everything he’d worked for based on the cleanliness of his staff; he profusely contested this decision as he had been particularly close to many of his staff on many occasion and found their scent... Pleasureable. Professors Jim and Tricerius were troubled at the news. Such a scandal to arise shortly after their joining did not portray them in a favourable light, despite their innocence. Deputy Principal Goomy ordered to see them in his chambers, they thought this peculiar but didn’t wish to appear suspicious by not attending. After a gruelling night in a most sensitive meeting the pair were slightly traumatised, Goomy had shown them the source of the claims of staff misconduct… Seb pondered over his ancient texts in order to find a way out of this mess. He finally reached the ‘R’ section in the A-Z guide to which he let out a cry of joy (this was nothing to do with the student underneath his desk). His prayers had been answered by a short entry: “Ragnarok; Are you about to face complete annihilation and or destruction of your hopes and dreams? Call Ragnarok on 09** *** **** for top quality advice. We’re the end of days specialists!” He dialed up the number to be met with response from their phone operator AnwarJ who after some ‘convincing’ directed Seb to his supervisor Trajan; the pair arranged for a the Ofsted inspector to be dealt with in a manner most befitting… a night with Ragnarok’s seductional educational specialist Mr. Graham. After a lot of Hard work the charges were dropped. Now came for payment. Trajan highlighted in their contract a clause titled “Repopulation”. Apparently after their duty was done, Ragnarok expected a member of each parties to come together in some sort of ceremonial event. Goomy instantly volunteered, Ragnarok presented AddictedBoy as their emissary for the event. It was time to find out what he was addicted to ;). The entire encounter went so well that Ragnarok decided to add Durmstrang to their loyal customers list. Durmstrang reciprocated with a tour of their staff housing… Durmstrang and Ragnarok sign an ODP Article I: Sovereignty The parties agree to respect one another’s sovereignty by forming an invisible barrier made of educational forms of knowledge that prevents interference. Article II: Non-Aggression The parties agree and guarantee the cessation of any and all forms of illegal educational techniques being taught towards each other. Article III: Secret-sharing The parties agree to share the latest and trendiest education techniques with each other with the intent of improving the education and knowledge of both parties. Article IV: Optional Defense The parties acknowledge that in the case of educational books being destroyed by external forces, they are not mandated to come to the aid of their fellow signatory. Should either party face annihilation and or destruction of its existence, they are encouraged to neutralise it with legal forms of powerful knowledge. Article V: Cancellation Should either party wishes to be left alone, 72 hours of notice must be given before it can be made official. Signed for Durmstrang: Headmaster Seb Mistress Goomy Mistress Tricerius Mistress Jim Beam Signed for Ragnarok: High King : Trajan Jarl: Jeremy Graham Thane of Diplomacy: AddictedBoy Steward of Diplomacy: AnwarJ

  11. The raid was dropped against aargh because there's no point in focusing on a pee pot when there's bigger matters at hand! SK were getting lairy then crying over nukes fired. Thought we'd concentrate on sending a few more their way! There's nothing more annoying than a fly buzzing in your ear when there's bigger things to focus on. There we go speculation ended. @Apeman you never answered are you coming out to play? or cuddling pixels?

  15. See, this kind of situation is why solving the problem of unstable equilibrium is so critical. Band of the Hawk is doing something that is absolutely necessary if we are to see a playable political and military landscape: they're waging war and defending themselves independently of the major blocs. Without this behavior, we ultimately won't have more than one or two sides in the game. The problem is that due to their independence, they have infinitely fewer resources than SK can call upon and therefore will lose any conventional warfare no matter what they do, unless they're bailed out by someone else. So their options are down to A. feeding resources to anyone that wants to and is able to raid them; B. fortifying to avoid allowing the guys raiding them to get profit out of or at least break even on constant raids; C. hide their alliance bank and keep a minimal stockpile per nation; D. join or get protected by a top bloc; or E. delete and quit P&W. If we remove B or C as options, then no-one will ever be able to compete unless their bloc can and does take down and keep down all competition, potential or actual. This would make everyone's game experience absolutely terrible, both for the farmers and the farmed. That's why we need options for anyone to be able to effectively resist anyone else, no matter what their differences in paper or resources or membership may be. This doesn't need to be fortification necessarily, it can also be something like a number of resources that can't be looted in war, like I'd suggested here: Good luck BotH, never give up never surrender o7 Edit: I forgot to mention that this should really be called a recognition of hostilities, rather than a declaration of war.

  22. i find it amusing that people still form micros without getting protectors i mean, there are very few occasions where you can get away with it...CoS being an alliance that comes to mind...but considering the lack of global wars leading to everyone having a war boner, you literally could have picked any top 40 AA to protect you and this all would have never have happened and you could be using your future rebuild money to help grow your alliance to each their own

  30. I don't think I said anything against arrgh, though that point was brought against us. Raiding is raiding, I don't have a problem when arrgh or anyone else does it from a gameplay perspective. You're right this is hardly an even fight, though raids are rarely intended to be. I'm sure it takes real bravery though when you have 20 city nation down declaring on 8 cities Edit: To be clear I don't think Arrgh are cowards, though I would disagree that you are, on the whole, particular more "brave" or anything than a majority of other alliances necessarily. Its a matter of play style; you decide how you want to play, see an opportunity, and take it. I don't have anything against Fraggle nuking away while being basically undamageable either. Its slightly annoying for us to deal with, but who cares. Play how you want to play, nothing wrong with getting creative with the mechanics. My point was really that some people get too uptight over how other people play the game.

  35. I'm sure I remarked something similar the last time you posted these, but again I find a couple of trends to be interesting. 1. 69% (ayy lmao) of nations in this game are 5 or less cities. ie - people who are either under 10 days of age or people who are inactive/don't play. - How can we increase our retention rate from a community standpoint? - How can we increase retention via mechanics? - Can we bring any of these people back into the game? - How can we boost influx of new players? 2. The New Pacific Order, unarguably, is a brick wall to anyone in their score range. Cities can't be destroyed so they're only going to continue rising up. The bell curve of city cost is going to make it impossible to escape their coordinated takeover of an ever-higher score range. - Aside from tax rates (which NPO is famous for being at 100%), why aren't other groups following NPO's lead in regards to sacrificing short-term growth for long-term victory? - Does NPO's taxrate directly contribute to their coordinated efforts? Could other groups create such a concerted effort without the harsh taxes? - Have NPO's doctrines truly created the invincible phalanx that they appear to be at first glance?

  44. It's pretty annoying when you're playing World of Warcraft, and a random PM along with guild invitation from a guild recruit bot just shoves stuff in your face. Then when you decline that, you get spammed with more bots. It's a constant cycle until you just turn off guild invites. I personally don't like it. It's just my own personal dislike of it.
