Swamp and Arrgh find common ground The open seas have fallen silent for weeks now. Sunlight broke through the thunderheads above and glinted on the ship's cannons. Sure raids were common, but our combat had never before been on the scale seen here. A rallying cry went out to The Ampersand's allies, Arrgh was raiding their coasts. The pirates and their bloodlust was growing and we had to stop them. Our coalition launched every ship we had in defense for The Swamp. We fought for every inch. Stalemate, one step forward, one step back. A costly and senseless war. When we look back upon this war we will still feel pride, pride in our bravery and comradery. We call an end to this conflict, neither side victorious, nor a loser. Peace with honor has been reached, and although raiding will no doubt continue, Tomorrow the Swamp is returning home while the pirates turn to other shores. No mil= no raids = no pirating. And pirates have no commerce so perma-blockades + zero mil = no money. So it appears we can stop you from achieving your goals. Your whole alliance has 4 nukes left and almost no money to make more. The part of the war where Arrgh can fight back is coming to a close. You can pretend these are regular counters but they're not.

They don't. Everything after this will just be regular old raiding, but Arrgh is by no means signing a formal obligation here.

This exactly. This is the kind of balance thing that everyone has a vested interest in. I don't think we should get a say since the community will be divided based on what benefits them. Which is dumb, I think. People should be voting for what benefits the whole game. But I know that's an unrealistic expectation.

Hello, Who here. I blundered into this game about 9 days ago and got kidnapped by an alliance that still won't tell me their name. They are good people though, so what's in a name? I am married with 2 kids (4 and 2 years old), and I have been playing browser/mmo games since around 2007. I also play PS4, as I type this introduction I am crawling through a Skyrim dungeon. I can see that there are years of history in this game. I would love to hear any stories you have of years past. The community is the best part of mmo games, and I look forward to joining the community.

Perhaps 2 or 3 per resource type. Would avoid seeing this: Alternatively, if we could render certain players invisible, basically like embargoing someone, just making them invisible instead, would also work, though would basically mean a lot of people have to do that in order to avoid seeing the offers of 1 or 2 people.

There was talk about reducing the way ID works regarding blocking missiles, there was also talk about changing the odds of a missile being blocked. Please vote.

So looking at the cities histogram, it seems like the vast overwhelming majority of existing nations create a nation and never log back in. So a few thoughts: 1. Nations are forced to apply to an alliance right after nation creation - they don't even go to their nation view page, the game auto-takes them to the alliance(s) screen and gives them a message something like: "Great! Now that you've created your nation, you'll need to jump into the political world of Orbis! Alliances will offer you military protection and financial assistance while you get your bearings. You should choose one from the list here to apply to as you take your first steps into the political community. Please note it's recommended that new players choose from the top 50 alliances when you're first starting out, you can always change your alliance later!" 2. Once they join or apply to an alliance the game sends them a message/notification to get on discord, something like: "Good work! With a solid alliance at your back, your nation will surely flourish in no time. Most alliances in this game are fairly involved and community-oriented. You should check your alliance page for their discord link so you can get to know them a little better. Politics and War also has an official discord server which is highly recommended for new players to join." 3. Upon completion of the tutorial, the player is automatically granted a "new player package" consisting of: 1k Uranium, 10k Food, 1k of each manufactured resource, $1m Cash, AND c2+c3+c4+c5 WITH 500 infra / 1000 Land in each city with each city receiving a nuclear power plant right off the bat. I believe if we give players an extremely solid foundation to begin with it will help player retention significantly. PnW gets people to the website regularly but fails to get them to come back. I would like to take a closer look at the overall tutorial and completely rework it to focus on getting into an alliance and giving the player a starting economy/military in a more streamlined process. If @Alex could provide the exact tutorial script, I'd be happy to look over it. I'm thinking literally a 3 step tutorial as a lot of the mechanical stuff can be taught directly from the alliances and potentially help us retain ADHD people who would otherwise not complete a double-digit step tutorial.

Victory in Orbis Day (VO Day)! Almost 1 year ago, on the 20th February 2020 one of the largest events to this date in Orbis happened. The great war named "NPO's Last Time" came to a long overdue close, after being ongoing for 248 days. The lead up to this event happened over 15 days, beginning on the 5th February. Two major events took place on this day, the first of which being the Game Admin, Alex, announcing that the NPO had been in "violation of the Game Rules on Real-World Transactions for In-Game Materials". He goes into length about the events and how he was dealing with them, but we wont bore you. You can read up on that yourself if you want here. The second event was that The $yndicate withdrew from any ongoing peace negotiations. These two aforementioned events were the beginning of "The Roqpocalypse". Over the next week, many Coalition B alliances either disbanded or exited the war under a white peace. Notable alliances that disbanded include the Black Knights (Under LeoTheGreat) and Guardians of the Galaxy. Also within this time period, Knights Templar offered a blanket White Peace to all alliances left in Coalition B. On the 12th February, the NPO head of Training was banned for yet again using another exploit, however this time using tax brackets. As above, you can read up further on this yourself here. In response to this, a large portion of the NPO left with around 70% of their membership deleting on this day. In response to this ban, and the above rule violation accusations, the "NPOwned" stat page was closed down. In celebrating this event, the staff at Royal Orbis News invite all members of the community to a large giveaway, to take place on February 20th. The total prize will be 500M and will be split down accordingly: 7 Names will be drawn using a bot. The first of these names will receive 100M, the second will receive 90M, the third 80M, the fourth, 70M, the fifth 60M and finally, the sixth and seventh will receive 50M each. In addition to this, we will be creating a channel in the server for people to give their favourite moments from the beginning of NPO's Last Time (formerly the Dial Up War) to the present day. We have dubbed this day, the 20th February, to be "Victory in Orbis Day" or "VO Day" for short. This is to celebrate the end of the war, and those who fought in the war. It is also to remind us all of how far the game has come in the past year. We hope that you all decide to come and join us in celebration of this day. A simple "hide embargoed offers" toggle would be great, actually. That would pretty easily solve phoenyx's problem without inhibiting people's ability to do dumb stuff for the memes.

Secretly leading Oasis isn't an easy job, and it takes a lot of time out of my day. Stop wasting my time with question threads that don't ask me any questions. I'll try to answer a few of them though. 'Why did you attack KT?' - We attacked kt because we felt that the vast majority of our members were too inexperienced in war and, quite frankly, couldn't fight to save their lives. This has sadly been proven as kt's lack of infra has brought them into a particular range, one in which a lot of our members seem to have forgotten to buy tanks. When will you make peace with KT? - We want to. Sadly though, this is so much fun for KT that they won't accept, that was a pretty dumb move on our part honestly. Will you ever be signing NAPs again? - I seriously hope not, but we just have to wait and see. The oasis leader is not like the secret HM leader, he is perfectly happy to answer all of your questions. Ask away.

I realize that Donald Trump isn't the greatest President we've ever had. If I were to say that he's another Abe Lincoln, I would be a liar. He's no Abe Lincoln and neither is Joe Biden.
