Subject: A Bittersweet Retirement

The Federation of Knox was founded some four and a half years ago on September 29th, 2020 by Jacob Knox*. Over that time, we have witnessed countless rulers, nations, alliances, and geopolitical blocs come and go. Today, it is with a heavy heart that I write to be the next in that line of nations to go. The Federation of Knox itself will remain standing as a testament to my accomplishments over the past four and a half years—and in case I decide to return some day—but it will remain dormant for the foreseeable future.

Breaking character for the rest of this announcement, I would like to share that one major deciding factor in my decision to step back from playing the game is that I am expecting my first born son (Sebastian) on July 29th, 2025. In addition to everything else I have been busy with, I am now hard at work making numerous preparations for his arrival. Thus far, all of the tests indicate that he is a strong and healthy boy. I will strive to check on the community as often as I can and stay in touch with those members of the community whom I have created a deep bond with. Thank you all for an amazing four and a half years packed with wars, support, encouragement, camaraderie, etc. I can only hope that at some indeterminate point in the future I will be able to return to playing Politics & War with you all again.

Wow I should really check the forums more...

OMG! Congratulations on the baby! Wishing the best for you and your family ❤️

If the time and situation comes where you are able to return to the game, then you'll always be welcomed back. Don't be a stranger and take care!

Go be with your son when the time comes, and get ready for a oddball sleep schedule for a while.  RL > P&W, and Time your family >> P&W

Quite likely, this place will still be here should you ever decide to return.  You'll probably find once the dust has settled and the kid is sleeping through the night, you'll have some time for this place again in the evenings.  There's no disgrace in being "just a spear carrier" when that's what you have time to do.

If this is more or less goodbye forever, remember the lessons you learned here.  There are always life lessons you can learn when playing these games.  How to work as part of a team, leadership skills, the style of leadership that works best for you.  Even the occasion lessons regarding project management, strategy, negotiating, time management, and life balance.  Best of luck to you in all you do.
