  1. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. - Romans 15:7 The Knights Templar formally welcome The Legion into the realm of Politics and War. Existing as a community for 15 years is no small task, and it’s an honour to have such a group join us here on Orbis. We hope that The Legion will have a fun and engaging time here in the game! Having grown to large size in a relatively short time, it is regretful to see that The Legion does not yet have much experience in this game, and hasn't had much opportunity to gain any. And already being in the top 15 alliances by score, it is even more regretful to see that they are virtually completely unknown to the world at large, and have yet to make their mark. We believe that this alliance would greatly benefit from the chance to let their name and existence be known to all, and to gather valuable PnW experience both as a community and as individuals. I'd say this is an alliance well overdue for a welcome party - KT style. As it is our Christian duty to be generous and hospitable to those who are most in need of aid, we shall therefore provide for them this opportunity! Allow us to introduce to the world stage: The Legion! Sorry for not having any overlap with your massively oversized low tier, one can only hope someone else gives them the chance to gain some experience soon!

  2. "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" The Legion is always looking for spectacular fun. As an 16 year old community we have seen many conflicts. The Legion is resilient where others have shattered upon the field of battle. We have been warmly welcomed to Orbis by the community. Now it is time to bring the fun! The Knights Templar seeks to join us in glorious battle, who are we to refuse? Our Legion is sound, our shields steady. Ave Legio! Oh... we also get to use our war flag now so that is pretty cool.

  3. Melting the Chocolate Castle Knights Templar has always been known as an order that strives for excellence, competence, and faith. There have been times when decadent and stagnant alliances have been left alone as our focus can only be at one place at any single time. That time has come to an end. There are many alliances that require correction and guidance and we cannot simply ignore them any longer. Knights Templar, like God, is loving and forgiving. We exist to provide assistance to as many as we feasibly can. However, as with everything, some leaders are irredeemable and too far gone. Chocolate Castle is one of those groups that has fallen into decadence and sin. The gluttonous rulers spend all day eating an assortment of mint, Hershey, and Lindt chocolate ignoring the pleas of the faithful. They have set up a heretical anti-pope with flagrant disregard for our faith with intent to manipulate the belief in our Lord. There is only one response to this sort of blasphemous and malicious act. We have to melt the rotten chocolate castle to the ground. This is our holy mission and sacred duty and only the pious Knights Templar can bring them the light. Deus Vult!

I shall quote the Hebrew Qohelet written in Ecclesiastes. 3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. So I guess the time has come, war. We will beat our plowshares into swords and our pruning hooks into spears and see you on the field of battle! For the Honor of Greninja, Ave Legion!

  20. Hey guys, Adding the ability for alliance leaders to embargo other alliances on behalf of their alliance. This suggestion has been floating around for years, and I have seen this come up on P&W Radios etc. I really think it can work if reasonably added to the game and here is why: Much more efficient than individual members each embargoing an alliance. Adds a greater dynamic to politics and diplomacy in the game. Third-sphere argument: Two spheres are at war, and they wish to prevent a third sphere from growing too fast whilst the war rages. They simply embargo the third sphere. Allows alliances to place economic pressure on the alliance/sphere they are at war with. Allows third party alliances (allies who are not in war) to place economic strain on your allies enemy. Or allows alliances to specifically back one sphere by embargoing the other. Counter-arguments: Embargo system can be abused by alliance leaders. Limit alliances to 5-10 embargoes each. This should leave the global market very much open to alliance trade for members. Too many embargoes made by alliances can place large strain on the global market. Again, 5-10 embargoes max each alliance. Yes, this will place some strain on the market, however this will make the politics game much more interesting. We already have an embargo system in place. Yes, but only for members, which is frustrating inefficient to coordinate between multiple alliances and spheres. Hope this could be considered. Thanks, Kosta.

  28. Making members "accept" taxes or an embargo is very counter intuitive. It limits the ability of alliance governments to control and organise their alliances. If members do not want taxes they should leave. They know what they signed up for. I really hope Alex does not do that.

  36. Three of us beat you first Archduchess Menhera of Lishistoria ordered a naval attack upon your nation of Velrulion. The attack was an immense triumph. Archduchess Menhera's forces lost 0 ships, while your defenders lost 0 ships. You used 0 tons of munitions and 0 tons of gasoline defending the attack. The attack destroyed 1.38 infrastructure in the city of Beuclair and destroyed 0 improvements. This loss has resulted in a naval blockade on your nation. To break the blockade you must execute a naval attack that is a success, another player must achieve an immense triumph naval attack on your opponent, or you must destroy all of your opponent's ships. All pending trade offers you have created have been cancelled and refunded to your nation and you will be unable to trade with other nations until the blockade is over.

  39. Hey guys, Politics and War is a very diverse game with regards to politics, communities and diplomacy. However it is also a very diverse game in terms of economies and economic systems. Many alliances vouch for large government controls and regulations of the economy, whilst other alliances vouch for moderate or even no regulation or taxation of the economy. I would like to suggest the addition of tariffs to the game. First of all what is a Tariff? "A tax or duty to be paid on a particular class of imports or exports." (Google) "A tariff is a tax on imported goods and services, and is also called a customs duty." (Economics Online) What are the two types of tariffs? "A specific tariff is levied as a fixed fee based on the type of item, such as a $1,000 tariff on a car. An ad-valorem tariff is levied based on the item's value, such as 10% of the value of the vehicle." (Investopedia) What can tariffs be placed on? Imports - raising the price of imports into a country for citizens. Exports - raising the price of exports out of a country to foreigners. Why Governments Impose Tariffs in real life? "Governments may impose tariffs to raise revenue, or to protect domestic industries—especially nascent ones—from foreign competition. By making foreign-produced goods more expensive, tariffs can make domestically produced alternatives seem more attractive. Governments that use tariffs to benefit particular industries often do so to protect companies and jobs. Tariffs can also be used as an extension of foreign policy as their imposition on a trading partner's main exports may be used to exert economic leverage." (Investopedia) What does this mean in a Politics and War sense? Alex could add import/export tariffs for alliance leaders to add to the Global or Alliance market (they should be separate) as an alliance tool. But why? Alliance leaders can impose a specific tariff (eg. $100 on the price of Iron) or a ad-valorem tariff (eg. 10% on the price of Iron) on imports to raise tax revenue for their alliance on the global market. Members who scroll through the market would, for example, have all iron prices increased by $100 or 10% of which would directly go to the alliance bank. Import tariffs can be used to persuade/force members to only use the alliance market. For example, an alliance could place a 100% tariff on the global market which would dissuade members from buying from there and instead use the tariff-free alliance-market. (This is for alliances with closed markets). This is similar with export tariffs, to dissuade foreign members from purchasing locally produced alliance member goods. This could help with the creation of tariff-free sphere markets. This could also be a selling point for alliances who pride themselves on their economic system (eg. no tariffs for economically free alliances or alliance exclusive markets for socialist or similar alliances). Hence, allows for greater role play. I hope this could be considered. Thanks, Kosta.
