  1. Hello there, I'm Evernt the Co-Founder of TCM and I'm being held hostage in a bunker thirty miles underground because of my war crimes on Alpha-Centari. Anyways I am here to announce that I am retiring from duty as one of 3 coal kings, and Starfuze shall be nominated as my successor. I am leaving cause my mental health has been on a downward trend as of late and honestly this game isn't something helping me much. I hope I can sort my life out and actually have self-esteem. Onward to greatness. I have give many thanks and hearts to the friends I've made along the way: Nokia Rokia, Wingawoo, Fairmoon, not my depression, Nokia doesn't want to be fa for Hammerfall, Jackrackham, Church, Starfuze, Village, Justinian, NoU, Slicknick, Shotaduck, Zephyr, Tym, Ducan, Talia, Peelsj, Arctic, Rainbow, Stringbean, Leopold, Babai, and many other's I can not name at the moment but I still love and cherrish. Love you too Chute Mi. TLDR: I had to do this in order to get into Hammerfall, though seriously I'm retiring cause I want to improve my mental health before I go down further. And have fun. ~<3 Love, Archduchess Of Alsiumfjord Evernt.

  2. There was a time when Imperium was kind When their voices were soft And their words inviting There was a time when love was blind And the world was a song And the song was exciting There was a time Then it all went wrong I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living I dreamed that love would never die I dreamed that Orbis would be forgiving Then again we were young and unafraid And dreams were made and used and wasted There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung No meme unposted But the demons come at night With their voices dripped with poison As they tear your hope apart As they turn your dream to blunder We fought by their side My days filled with endless wonder They took my love in their stride But they were gone when January came And still I dream that we’ll be That we will live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms we cannot weather I had a dream my life would be So different from what I'm living So different now from what it seemed Now life has killed The dream I dreamed Tldr The Infinite Empire disbands

  4. A change is well overdue. We've all been on the losing sides of a war and we all know how ridiculously OP Iron Dome is. Either nerf Iron Dome or increase missile construction capability. For literal years we've been trying to improve the losing sides ability to inflict damage and keep the individual player active and this is one of the best ways of doing so. Zeroed players, whose only option is to lob a nuke and/or one or two missiles per day against 3-8 opponents shouldn't deal with 50/50 odds.

  8. Well, I'm sure no player on any losing side ever will appreciate your concern for them as long as your solution to free them from suffering is to make the losing war a more devastating experience, leaving them no choice but to surrender more quickly in utter annihilation. I really shouldn't speak for them but if you talk to anyone who was on the side fighting NPO in GW14 and participated in that war from the beginning, they will tell you that it was the most devastating experience they have had with the game, yet they never surrendered until the very end. My point is: not only is the proposal to make wars more one sided garbage for obvious reasons, but it would probably not even cause shorter wars either, because people don't just surrender whenever they are losing. Instead you can push ideas that will make a winning side wanna end a war more quickly and have them potentially demand less ridiculous terms to push a fast surrender. Having them eat a lot of missiles sounds like something that would contribute towards that. I do however agree that it would be cool if the side getting dogpiled had more ways of using conventional military, because only firing missiles and nukes is as a matter of fact not very interesting.

  9. I see absolutely no issue with missiles doing guaranteed resistance damage. Anything that makes it harder to sit on people is a positive in my book, just fantastic if people have to beige their opponents in order to not get beiged by missiles themselfes.

  13. hello yes this is me about to vent please enjoy as like normal people gonna point and laugh as this game is one of the largest annoying toxic piece of garbage communities i chose to stay in because a couple friends and me had some meh memories but i love them so here i remain anyways i want to go over the past 2 years of my playtime and imma make this snappy June 1st 2019 the time i founded TCM within the later periods of the month got hit by House Stark for things i said in 2017 the same alliance Kiwi left due to the fact they are simply a toxic bad alliance June-July 2019 i joined a micro bloc and gave out a lot of money by buying a royal marry amount of credits it was called the confederation it had 6 members and out of the six 3 merged into TCM and 1 merged into the last member Weebunism over the course of the blocs life August 2019 Astra was the last few bloc members reformed with people i got to agree to join by some interesting means these included North Point led by akuryo, BoC led by Dusty, GPC led my Minesome, and lastly Weebunism led by Empiur than ofc myself Nokia Rokia Leading TCM dail it up a few months we rolled every micro around us for fun partied in very large voice chats and had a blast so November rolls around and a new war starts the Novembers times was well in 1 word chaos George currently called Bumi also called Azazle decided to steal Pantheon bank and was a member of BK High Gov for their Econ here is where matters get complicated George steals the bank in a matter of 2 days from Six Sadistic worth around 13 billion at around this time i made a bank called summit banking Summit had 6 billion invested into it and its offshore while i was leading it was used to deliver the pantheon bank to George in s separate offshore myself dusty and minesome all ordered it to be protected from our alliances 3 of the 5 Astra leaders but wait theres more i gave George and his new alliance 3 billion in investments i gave 2.5bil to my AA and 500mil to a former member named Peeslj who re invested it into summit inflating the bank numbers which was the idea of my bank partner S Wolfe now to the next part Pantheon rightfully angry attacked george and remember those prots 3 of the 5 astra members signed well here is matters start getting interesting BoC refuses to follow through and before they do such TCM and GPC immediately follow through this is the start of poor pantheon later in this war The Immortals enter the fight and have the war renamed to callapse in the mines from its original name Poor Pantheon remember how this war started by a certain someone stealing the pantheon bank welp theres more so hold on the night the bank was stolen several old players were invited to the joke and laughed for hours many even told George good job well known players like myself the than loved Elijah Mikaelson Dusty Uriah Matt the Great Epi and Star Tube a guy who had soup in his name and Kiwi as well as Akuryo and many more also cant forget Cooper from TKR the war ended not because this situation though that would have made my life both OOC and IC a lot less painful the War ended down the line with Goons Goons declared a war on these forums they accused me of pedophilia and demanded i disband my alliance and delete my nation the leader of Goons Do Not Fear Jazz was the person who made the post and it was deleted for OOC after this goons had no proof and they would later Dox me and share my facebook accuse me of stolen valor and follow me around to 2 other games accusing me of pedophilia i later in order to help several friends of mine in the poor pantheon war and the Summit banking issue which occurred when George defaulted on 3 billion I was foced to decline peace terms with Tyrion the leader of The Immortals because he demanded i pay their whole coalition 10 billion cash something i did not have and is efectively the largest reps ever to be pushed besides the Dail Up war(NPO Last Time) the largest being 1 billion which is a recorded i believe Rose was once upon a time forced to pay I allowed S Wolfe to accuse me of stealing the bank to keep his name from any mismanagement we both caused and i took credit for stealing the pantheon bank so TCM could peace out of the war with TI and Pantheon lastly i deleted my nation after accepting several things i never did and left around 70 servers to try and leave PnW this is part 1 of 3 because its 23;30 at night and i need some sleep

  14. So looking at the cities histogram, it seems like the vast overwhelming majority of existing nations create a nation and never log back in. So a few thoughts: 1. Nations are forced to apply to an alliance right after nation creation - they don't even go to their nation view page, the game auto-takes them to the alliance(s) screen and gives them a message something like: "Great! Now that you've created your nation, you'll need to jump into the political world of Orbis! Alliances will offer you military protection and financial assistance while you get your bearings. You should choose one from the list here to apply to as you take your first steps into the political community. Please note it's recommended that new players choose from the top 50 alliances when you're first starting out, you can always change your alliance later!" 2. Once they join or apply to an alliance the game sends them a message/notification to get on discord, something like: "Good work! With a solid alliance at your back, your nation will surely flourish in no time. Most alliances in this game are fairly involved and community-oriented. You should check your alliance page for their discord link so you can get to know them a little better. Politics and War also has an official discord server which is highly recommended for new players to join." 3. Upon completion of the tutorial, the player is automatically granted a "new player package" consisting of: 1k Uranium, 10k Food, 1k of each manufactured resource, $1m Cash, AND c2+c3+c4+c5 WITH 500 infra / 1000 Land in each city with each city receiving a nuclear power plant right off the bat. I believe if we give players an extremely solid foundation to begin with it will help player retention significantly. PnW gets people to the website regularly but fails to get them to come back. I would like to take a closer look at the overall tutorial and completely rework it to focus on getting into an alliance and giving the player a starting economy/military in a more streamlined process. If @Alex could provide the exact tutorial script, I'd be happy to look over it. I'm thinking literally a 3 step tutorial as a lot of the mechanical stuff can be taught directly from the alliances and potentially help us retain ADHD people who would otherwise not complete a double-digit step tutorial.

  15. Hello everyone I just started 2 days ago the name of my nation is Atlandia. I have been really enjoying the game and i have also been enjoying the company of everyone at Chocolate Castle who have graciously accepted me as an applicant. I have had a lot of help starting my country from many people but i would like to especially thank Havgle for all of the help. I hope to meet all of you guys in the future.

  16. Yes I don't want dogpilers to be given even more incentive to dogpile because they know their infra is safe. As Isjaki said somewhere stats don't mean anything wars are fought for different reasons with different goals in mind rather than stats.

  18. 1. Yes this is true, Nokia was indeed the target of several OOC attacks that ruined his reputation 2. He never deserved it nor the hate associated with it 3. Nokia you’re retired go home. You’re inability to work on recovering your reputation and instead ruin it more with situations such as constant retirements and constant returning to the game. Inability to control yourself in game and in the forums and constant fighting with people who point out your issues. And you’re inability to handle FA properly are all issues that are ruining your reputation. As someone who is your friend I can’t stand next to you if this is how you’re gonna be. I need to see improvement and actually effort in terms of bringing yourself back up. You can start by taking a big break from the game. Then move on from there. tl;dr - Nokia didn’t deserve the OOC attacks from 2019 but people have the right to be unhappy with the shit he does now. (This is the rare moment you will see a Wall of text from me)

  25. RNG is not inherently a bad thing.... Finding the balance of it can be. I think small incremental changes are the best way to work towards a happy medium. I would prefer to have ID stay at a % chance to land and increasing the amount of missiles one can make each day or reducing ID from 50% to 40% and then evaluate it from there. Also, for those of you in approval of the major change, this would prevent the quicker wars which some of you have asked for. When the losers run out of options, resolution is reached much quicker. I get you want losing side to be engaged but sitting back giving no incentive of resolution because you can just missile the winning side doesnt seem like an expedient means to an end. Please think about how you want the core game to work and feel rather how ID works by itself. Isolated the ID may seem dumb but how it affects the way wars play out is a bigger role. Do you want every war to destroy infra on both sides making who wins almost irrelevant? If so make the change.

  33. Meh. It's a dirt cheap project, and unless if you literally just got it or it's always failed you since acquiring it, it's more than likely to have paid back and then some. Also, one of the proposed changes is for missiles to destroy 2 imps and for ID to halve that, so there's that. RNG (which is ultimately what 'surprise' is) is a fairly lazy method to add a variable, and such variable is more often than not just frustrating. It's also hardly a 'surprise' when every other shot is statistically set to not land.

  37. I agree that social pressure can go a long way. Anyone who thinks minispheres can't work is cynical. In a game with a total population of a few thousand people and only 1% of that actually calling the shots? Social pressure can easily force a meta that the mechanics may not necessarily deem optimal. Any other opinion is cynical laziness. Same with paperless. Same with democracy. This is a political simulator but we've turned it into a political simulator for the 1% and a farmville-slave-simulator for everyone else. You're lucky if you don't pay taxes, but guess what: leave your alliance/coalition during a war you disapprove of? Dodger for life, good luck being taken seriously ever again without ridiculous PR effort. Most people that play PnW pay taxes (which is fine btw but in this case without democracy taxation is literally theft) to their alliance leadership who then decides where that money and those resources go. To some extent or another most players have no actual choice where their in-game currencies go. Build orders enforced by the IA department, war orders enforced by milcom, treaties signed by your FA person(s)... Genuinely speaking if I described this game to you before you had played it and told you only 1% of players ever get to do the actual politicking... none of us would be here. But because it's socially accepted in the community taxes even without representation or agreement are fine. Signing treaties without a vote from the members is fine because both they and you (the leaders) have been coached to believe OPSEC is more important than player choice... The list goes on. It may sound crazy but I assure you this is a game and the way we're choosing to play it is one of the least fun ways one could imagine. "Meritocracy" has always been a buzzword used to dissuade the populace of their notions of democracy. In truth your system is autocratic. Just because you choose who you (the leader) thinks is best does not make the system based on merit. When's the last time anyone ever saw actual requirements for a government position? You don't because you can't quantify a competent FA guy or a good milcom person with meaningful criteria. Thus you choose them based on your sole, sometimes a group vote within the vaunted halls of government, opinion. Also lol at trying to use the IRL USA as an argument against democracy. I personally believe paperless politics works best as an all-or-nothing take on things. I think the propagandist attitude against paperless treaties is stupid though. If someone wants to announce one treaty and keep another one a secret it may leave a bad taste in the mouth and call into question whether that treaty existed prior to its use but it's still valid either way. It's just yet another example that people don't need contractual obligation to act on their own interests or even against their own interests. Things work if you make them work and can come together with enough people to enforce it through social pressure and real action. See my response to Buo at the top of this post for reference. The argument you make is not against minispheres as a concept, it's against paper as a concept. You're so close yet fell on the wrong side of the fence. Paper will always beget more paper. Hidden, public, webs, mini, it doesn't matter. Eventually someone will begin to form a web and their enemy will begin to do the same out of fear. The difference is that if these webs were paperless, the agreements made are far more likely to evaporate over time. If you've ever been in a top FA position you would know treaties die long before they're actually cancelled but people will keep them if they offer the slightest bit of advantage or protection - even if that protection only exists on paper. See my above responses but I just want to hit on your thoughts on in-game scarcity: Every time we've tried mechanical incentives for people to fight, they end up being exploited. Example1: Tech and the top 100 nations rule in CN. The winners of each successive war (partially due to cheating and multis, turns out PnW was not Roquentin's first game where he cheated and broke rules) retained more and more of their tech. Imagine if the winners of PnW wars net-gained infra or cities every time they won a war. This combined with any nation in the top 100 being able to hit any nation in the top 100 made it impossible for the "losers" to gain an upper tier. Thus enforcing multiple years of hegemony. The winners kept accumulating score and the ability to further retain/enforce it. Example2: Treasure Island. Treasures were Alex's way of trying to force competition over a resource but people instead turned to abusing it via metagaming instead of fighting over it. Basically scarcity in a game turns into a hegemony-creator for the winners via a snowball effect. If the resource is valuable enough to fight over, it typically gives too much of an advantage to the possessors to be fair. If the resource is not valuable enough, no one will fight for it thus defeating the purpose. It's an annoying circle. Just to clarify and wrap up this giant wall of text- A paperless or more paperless system of FA is actually meant to encourage more cooperation. Not less. Think of every scrub satellite alliance in the game right now who has never made a political wave in their life. Now imagine if they couldn't get a protectorate. They would either have to put in effort to FA or possibly face their doom. Either way is a net positive for the game because bad alliances disbanding usually leads to either new alliances or new members in better alliances thus giving them more leverage to do interesting things. Similarly the power players would need (likely) more FA people. Thus giving more players a chance to get involved. Lastly but importantly - big shout out to @Prefonteen for sparking a solid discussion about alliance and political meta.

  38. That is a valid point but it seems like a reactive change rather than being proactive about tackling that problem with an end game in mind (to how wars play out). I was just bringing what i said up because there have been recent posts claiming there is no "reason to go to war in orbis" as there really isnt a huge reason to end one either if both sides can just grind themselves down to nothing. What percentage to stop a missile would be fair if they were to keep the core mechanics the same? 20% like VDS?

  41. So guaranteed improvement sniped, and guaranteed resistance damage. Yeah this makes iron dome completely worthless, if you implement this I want a refund. Its one thing to tweak a project after releasing it on live, but completely changing it to what is essentially a completely different project, with an entirely different function, since most people with iron domes didnt build them to protect infra anyways, is just completely ridiculous.
    2 points
  42. Then the status quo is better. since infra costs increase exponentially, two missiles who do 50% damage on two different 2000 inrfa cities is alot more damage than 1 missile doing 100% damage on one 2000 infra city.
