  2. Hi. I know a lot of potential updates or changes to the test server do get announced. I've just noticed I usually hear about new mechanics being tested "through the grapevine." and I could be blind but I also don't see anywhere to post feedback for the changes. I feel like this can result in people being blindsided by changes when they get pushed to Live, and I also feel like this doesn't provide any appropriate avenue with which to discuss potential changes / give feedback. Feedback seems to be the most important part of the test server existing so I figured we might need a public area for it.

  3. Is this along the lines of what was done on the forums however many years ago? If so, I think it's a great thing to give another go. There were complaints back then, too, about it being a bunch of yes man illuminati types, but a lot of productive and in-depth conservation came out of it, from what I remember (I was part of it, but admittedly not that active in it). It's more a space away from the trolls, blatantly IC-biased, and otherwise toxic types that inevitably pop up in the general suggestions forum.

  6. I propose bringing back beige from loosing wars with 3 mechanics changes to balance it: In general, the point of these proposals is to keep beige as a mechanic that gives people space to get a reprieve and rebuild going into the next round of wars. The problem right now is that beige gives people an unfair advantage in the round of wars they are in when they are beiged. These changes reverse that, so that getting beiged puts you at a disadvantage in your current round of wars while maintaining the ability it gives you to rebuild and have a chance to fight effectively later. 1) The nation with the lowest resistance automatically loses when the war expires All wars end with either a peace agreement or beige, no expiring wars. 2) Minimum beige time I can think of two ways to do this: Either you can't leave beige unless you have less than 12 turns of beige left, or have a minimum beige time and each lost war adds 12 turns to it. This mechanic would reduce the unbalanced advantage beige nations have of being able to come out whenever they choose. With this change, you can use beige stacking as a tool to prevent someone from rejoining the war for a few days. 3) Nations on beige automatically accept peace offers from opponents This prevents people from using beige as a way to avoid being countered while they beat up on weaker opponents who can't do anything to stop them. It makes countering and beiging someone a viable tactic to relieve other people at war with that nation.

  7. Or whatever they are called. Right now, every time that I go to do any action with another nation, I'm bombarded with captchas and they are the most annoying shit ever. Here's my suggestion: turn them so when you do *repeat* actions, you are targeted, not when you do regular actions. For example, I should be able to go buy iron, and never get a captcha, however if I buy multiple Iron trades(3+) or multiple trades(2+ of 2 resources) the captcha should hit. Likewise if I attack 1 nation, it should work fine, but if I attack multiple ones, I should have to enter. Either way, I'm sick of getting them every couple seconds and it has actually caused me to stop doing what I was doing because I didn't want to enter it. They shouldn't feel like that. I've also had to enter them multiple times when buying on the market and I shouldn't have to do that either.

Definition of Swamp 1 : a wetland often partially or intermittently covered with water especially : one dominated by woody vegetation 2 : a tract of swamp 3 : a difficult or troublesome situation or subject. Best avoided when travelling alone or when ghosting; that way lurk monsters. I acknowledge I should’ve read the signs to ‘Get Outta My Swamp’ and will stay clear in the future.

  9. I've finally gotten the go ahead to created a player based development team. This will be a small group of players lead by me which have a separate channel in the Politics and War discord to discuss game development. There will also be an observer. The point of the observer is to provide public updates of the game dev group is working on, though I will still give my regular monthly updates. The observer will be required to clear their public reports through me first, just incase there is a feature Alex doesn't want to be public knowledge too early. Since this position will operating on discord, to apply contact me on discord. My user name is Prefontaine#5550.

  10. Mariage Sorciere vs. the Human Alliance vs. the Demon Army vs. Vampiria May 3, 2020: The conflict began following the Witch Council's decision to reject the idea of an interspecies council for Rokkenjima's government. The peaceful protests, which had been occurring for several weeks, turned violent and erupted across most of the nation. The different species of Rokkenjima clashed with one another, until eventually, most of them managed to relocate and settle in specific territories. The witches of Japan, who had mostly avoided clashing with other species throughout the night, organized an attack on the Britannian territory known as the Mt. Fuji District. Just prior to the attack, first-class archbishop and Chief Inquisitor of the SSVD known as Willard H. Wright, along with large group of interspecies refugees, approached the Britannian territory. After initially being turned away, they were allowed access into the district, at which point Willard informed Britannian governor Kei Sakura of the witches' planned attack, and how he was assigned the task of protecting Rokkenjiman refugees by the Great Court of Heaven. Britannia agreed to assist in the evacuation of the refugees. May 4, 2020: Britannia engaged the witches in battle throughout the night as the evacuees boarded Britannian ships at the docks of the city of Fuji. After being pushed back heavily by the witches, and being caught in the middle of another conflict between the witches and vampires under the command of Queen Krul Tepes, the Britannians managed to narrowly escape with the refugees. They made their way to the newly formed Republic of Hong Kong and Macau, which had declared neutrality in the ongoing conflict. Will was appointed governor of the Republic, while Kei returned to Britannia after leaving two Britannian cruisers in Hong Kong for defensive purposes. May 5, 2020: The new nation of Mariage Sorciere is formed. It is ruled by the Witch Council, with its territory consisting of the Kuril Islands, Japan, Taiwan, and the city of Shanghai and its surrounding area. Mariage Sorciere officially declares war on any nation which breaks away from the former country of Rokkenjima, stating that their first objective is to hunt down the vampires hiding out in Japan. Later the same day, the Human Alliance declares its existence after a sudden evacuation attempt from the Kingdom of Israel in the city of Qingdao. Together with the Israelis, humans from the Alliance's Chinese territories and South Korea who wish to flee the conflict are evacuated to the Republic of Hong Kong and Macau. The Israeli vessels then return to Israeli. The Human Alliance is under military rule with General Esdeath, the Jaegers, and Night Raid in command. May 7, 2020: The Shiki Tribes secretly declare their existence under the rule of the Kirishiki family. Their territory consists of the island of Sakhalin as well as Rokkenjima's former Russian territory east of Manchuria. May 31, 2020: The nation of Vampiria is officially formed. It lacks a formal leader at this point, with its massive military forces launching a campaign into the People's Republic of China. By the end of the day, Vampiria's territory consists of the Chinese provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, and Inner Mongolia. June 1, 2020: Vampiria continues their advance into China, securing the remainder of the country's northern and western border, extending their territory into the outskirts of the provinces of Gansu and Xinjiang. June 18, 2020: Mariage Sorciere vessels intercept Israeli naval forces in the South China Sea. Conflict breaks out between the two sides after the Kingdom of Israel declares war on Mariage Sorciere. One Aura-Class Cruiser and Aura-Class Frigate is sunk by the Israelis. The witches aboard the two vessels are evacuated to the fleet of Dream End Airships in the skies above. Five frigates and four corvettes are sunk by Mariage Sorciere, with one cruiser and three corvettes heavily damaged, and forty planes destroyed. Nine-thousand Israeli soldiers and airmen are killed or missing in action by the time the Israelis begin to retreat. June 19, 2020: The Demon Army declares its existence under the rule of King Satan Jacob and his demon generals, Alciel and Lucifer. June 27, 2020: The Demon Army launches simultaneous invasions of the Human Alliance and Vampiria. A decoy attack of several thousand demons takes place along the DMZ with the Human Alliance. The entirety of the decoy force is permanently frozen by a massive wall of permafrost ice created by General Esdeath along the entire border. At the same time, General Alciel leads his army across the border with the Human Alliance in China, capturing the cities of Jinan and Weifang, as well as the Shandong Peninsula. General Lucifer leads his army across the border with Vampiria, quickly capturing territory as well. June 28, 2020: The Human Alliance holds off the Demon Army's continued advance in China, creating a stalemate between the two sides. The port city of Dalian is captured by the demons, who continue their push into Manchuria. July 1, 2020: Vampiria continues their advance into the province of Xinjiang. Attempts to counterattack the demons in the east fail, resulting in additional territory loss to the Demon Army. Following the repelled attack by Israel in the South China Sea, Mariage Sorciere decides to expand their naval capabilities by capturing the Chinese island province of Hainan. With the capture of the island successful, it allows for the construction of additional naval bases to assist in the blockade of the Chinese coast. Plans are also made to construct army and air force bases on the island as well. The witches' attack on the island results in armed conflict being opened up with the People's Republic of China once more. July 7, 2020: The Demon Army continues their advance into Vampiria. Despite hard resistance from the vampires, they are outmatched by the Demon Army war machine. The demons enter the province of Inner Mongolia, reaching the border of Mongolia proper. Lucifer's army pushes into the province of Hebei, reducing Vampiria's remaining naval access to the ports of Tianjin. With the demons on the doorstep of Beijing, General Alciel prepares his army for a coordinated strike on Vampiria's capital. July 13, 2020: The Battle of Beijing begins. The Demon Army's attempted infiltration of the city is halted by Vampiria's organized and powerful defenses, in addition to poor weather conditions resulting in low visibility. The battle continues to rage for the next few days. July 16, 2020: The Demon Army was left exhausted, never managing to infiltrate Beijing. The demons were ordered to fall back. General Alciel retreated south in Shandong province, while General Lucifer retreated to the northeast into northeastern Hebei province. At this point, it was now certain that Vampiria was operating under the direction of a formal leader. July 19, 2020: Vampiria, having managed to defend both Beijing and Tianjin, continues to further their momentum. Their army and air force moves to the south and northeast, securing Hebei province and pushing the demons back even more. Vampiria's navy starts to regain their numbers and strength, combating the Demon Army's navy on the Yellow Sea. July 26, 2020: The battle for Dalian begins. Vampiria secures a key naval victory against the Demon Army in the areas surrounding the city, allowing for a naval bombardment and subsequent land invasion to take place. By the time it is over, the battle for Dalian would be the longest and deadliest since the battle for Beijing two weeks earlier. July 27, 2020: Vampiria begins their push into the provinces of Liaoning and Inner Mongolia. As this occurs, repeated attempts from the demons to advance from the south into Hebei fail. July 30, 2020: With Liaoning and Inner Mongolia secured, the vampires had managed to regain their connection to their northern territories. As a result, Vampiria's growing military would now be able to more easily launch coordinated strikes against the demons from multiple directions at once. The next week would be spent holding off the Demon Army's attempted advances while Vampiria constructs more military units and forms battle plans with their forces in the north. August 7, 2020: A massive push to retake Vampiria's remaining territory begins. Within a few days, half of Jilin and Heilongjiang had been retaken by the vampires. August 10, 2020: King Satan Jacob of the Demon Army gives the order for General Lucifer's forces to retreat across the border to North Korea. Within hours following the retreat, Vampiria reclaims all of their territory lost to the Demon Army. King Satan, along with his strongest soldiers, joins Lucifer's forces at the border, reinforcing it to prevent the vampires from infiltrating the Demon Army's territory proper. August 16, 2020: Vampiria selects Kaname Kuran to rule as King. Upon his order, the Vampirian military invades and captures the remaining territory of the People's Republic of China in Qinghai province. Vampiria also claims areas of northern and western Tibet upon reaching an agreement with the Dalai Lama. The agreement allows Vampiria to claim Tibet's remaining territory under the following conditions: Vampiria agrees not to feed on Tibet's population, and agrees to return all of Tibet's territory to them following the conclusion of the war. August 26, 2020: Upon the disbandment of the Bao Dynasty, Vampiria returns their claimed territory in Tibet and expands into the remainder of Qinghai and south into Sichuan. As the remnants of the CCP battle civilians in China in an attempt to reclaim their lost power, Vampiria continues their original campaign against China. September 21, 2020: Vampiria continues its expansion into China, capturing the remainder of Hebei province and half of Yunnan province. The Demon Army expands into Henan province. The Human Alliance expands into Anhui to eliminate the Communist presence in the region. Mariage Sorciere expands into Guangxi and Guangdong to prevent foreign intervention through Macau and Hong Kong, cutting off the city-state from the mainland.

  18. Once a unit has been in reserve status for 10 days it is moved to active duty automatically. This means a blitz won't do shit. For example, let's assume there are two alliances, Alliance B and Alliance A. Alliance A blitzes Alliance B, who we will say are running max planes. Alliance B can just decom any units they have (or even suicide them in), and start building into reserves, which cannot be touched by anything besides spies, and at extremely low casualties. Wars last at most for a period of 5 days, over these 5 days Alliance B can literally max out their military and keep it in reserve, because they're only moved into active duty in 10 days, the length of 2 wars. Let's assume alliance A somehow ludicrously manages to 'win' the spy war from the initial contact and can even start spying Alliance B's military. Alliance B still has 10 days over which to rebuild their military, and come back out unscathed except for some infra damage. Even any superiority gained is worthless because they can simply wait for the wars to expire, and then attack. Effectiveness of the blitz? Zero. Hotel? Trivago.

  19. Tbh, adjusting it for naval is warranted, as atm there's no incentive to use ships to remove ships due to their pathetic killing power, alongside them guzzling through gas/muns and losing you ships in the process (it's true that air results you in losing air, but at good enough odds you also kill more/similar amounts of planes while killing ships, and planes are cheaper to boot alongside doing a better job at killing said ships).

  21. Seem to be changing the game faster than fixing the latest couple of patches. The way this game is being updated is a mess. I however reckon Alex ignores all of us thinking we just don't want change, when in reality we just don't want change because it is rolled out so poorly. Pushing updates without really looking at the consequences. Doing full-blown changes when minimal tweaks over time were needed. Removing key things from the game with barely a plan to replace it. Now as players we're basically just hearing that we need to test it in the actual game? God help you if you're on the losing end of the next war because pretty sure NPO would be having a wet dream rn. Even winning might be extremely costly so for most it's going to make sense to just not be the guinea pig next war. Wouldn't even blame the game to straight up not fight for the rest of the year as a refusal to test this stuff.

  23. Not bad suggestions but I'm not a fan of nerfing blockades. With the reserve units intended to prevent military from being perma zeroed, there has to be some way to pin down the opponents or else wars will never end. Having a combination of counters and reserve units should make breaking blockades very doable while still offering a theoretical way to win the global through making your opponents go bankrupt if blockades don't get broken. That sounds like the best balance.
    1 point
  24. why do reserve troops have to move to active automatically? you can break a blockade by spy attacks alone? and how many ships are blockading has no effect on it? do reserve units count towards score?
    1 point
  25. Active duty and reserve duty for units. You can buy units up to your max and place them into reserve status where they can't be killed unless the building which houses them. Spies can also hit them but in a much more limited capacity. This way you can stack units into a protected mode while you work yourself up to max mil again in reserve status, and can then come out swinging.

  26. Alex you've been give a billion damned suggestions about changing beige for years. Even largely community supported ones, how are these not already taken note of? Here's my favorite: all wars end in beige. Regardless of resistance. The only difference is aggressors who lose get half and defenders in unfinished wars below say, 55 resistance get half as well. Ones above probably don't need any and don't get any. Ta-da, solves everything you mentioned above without designing something entirely new.

  33. Blockades currently prevent you from receiving or sending resources via trade, alliance banks, or otherwise. My suggestion is to change this to be more realistic as it would be virtually impossible to cut off a modern nation from all outside access. I have a few different ideas for how this could be done. 1. Receiving resources via trades costs twice as much PPU. The selling nation gets more money for "smuggling" rss into the blockaded nation. 2. Receiving resources via trades or alliance bank transfers or otherwise results in half of the resources being "lost at sea" AKA deleted. 3. Receiving resources via any method comes with a chance of losing a percentage of the resources to any nations with an active blockade on you. 4. Add a spy op to "smuggle" resources into a nation. So a friendly nation would need to have resources on-hand to send you (with a set amount of how much. like 1000.) and use a spy op to send the resources to you. These operations have their own separate limit from the normal defensive limit, so it can't be spammed but also can't be used to block enemy spy ops from happening.
