"In the history of the galaxy there have been many powers, some great and powerful, some small and insignificant. All of them perished at the hands of their betters. All of them forgotten by time itself. There was one though that outlived them all. It was an Empire that controlled the entire galaxy. This was the greatest Empire the galaxy has ever seen. It's reached to the stars themselves. Their rule was challenged time and again, however they always won. They ruled for over a thousand years until one day they all mysteriously disappeared. Their Empire fell apart and was divided amongst the people they had conquered. This Empire long became forgotten in the minds of the men that once served them. This Empire and its realms became lost to history. We are the descendants of that forgotten Empire. We are here to proclaim that we have returned! We are here to proclaim that we remember! 2. My issue with this claim is that Roseclipse is competitive in or holds an outright majority in basically every tier all the way down to until the micro level where war doesn't really happen on a serious scale, regardless of what other sphere you compare them against. Their experience matters, of course, but Roseclipse can't lose those tiers either, since at the very least they will win all of the high tiers and then just use that to downdeclare and win the lower tiers too if necessary -- as opposed to GGO, who does not have mid or lower tier support available in order to downdeclare past a certain point. This is why according to pretty much everyone outside your sphere, Roseclipse is unbeatable. Not tier-locked, just outright unbeatable. I agree, and I think people value whales too much. The issue is that your alliance, Eclipse, is one of the single alliances that has pushed the narrative of prioritizing whale tiers more than anyone else. Really all of these recent events are just the consequence of actions like that.

  3. Allowing inactive players to be raided by anyone would be a massive nerf to new players, and a massive nerf to them catching up via raiding, since the good targets would be taken by the higher-tier active players who would also earn more money from the wars due to having a larger ground force to loot more from GA's, meaning the lower-tier raiders would struggle to get any slots, therefore making far less money. The rest of the suggestions seem reasonable, but letting anyone raid low-tier inactive targets would hurt new players far more than it'd help them.

  5. Pretty controversial view from me but I do really think the egg comes first. Not only were eggs used way before chickens existed, chickens are just paid government actors with cameras planted by the government to spy on farmers. Chicken nuggets are just pork infused with chemicals to control the masses. Wake up people

  6. Hey everyone! Village here with a couple ideas we'd like some feedback on, largely centered around catch up mechanics and improvements to new player growth. Make sure to vote in the poll above! Extended new player revenue bonus At present, new players gain a boost to their revenue while under ten cities, the formula is as follows (for all nations C10 and below): bonus = 1 - (cities - 1) / 10` However, the bonus doesn't really have a significant impact since low city income is very low, as such we propose a number of different ideas for improving the bonus. - 100% bonus for C10 and below, decreasing by 10% from C11 to C20 (C11 will have 90%, C20 will have 0%) - 100% bonus for C10 and below, decreasing by 20% from C11 to C15 (C11 will have 80%, C15 will have 0%) - 100% bonus for C1, decreasing by 5% from C2 to C20 (C2 will have 95%, C20 will have 5%) - I also included some 200% stuff in poll at the last minute for feedback, not a commitment and not necessarily balanced - Something else, put a comment below! Increased login bonus I hope we're all familiar with our daily free 500k, however many might not know that nations under 60 days old can gain up to a million dollars a day. Since this login bonus encourages activity and helps both new and old players grow, we have a couple ideas below for improving it for everyone! (For this one I split it up into a couple polls to get a gauge on each component independently) - Max login bonus is 1mil, 3mil, 5mil - New player bonus is removed - Max daily increase is at 50k, 100k, 150k, or 250k - Max new player bonus is the same, double, triple normal login bonus Raiding and inactive nations At present, the typical meta for a new player isn't entirely healthy or a great first impression of the game. New players typically get locked into months of raiding in order to earn enough money to boost themselves to a higher city count and be worth investment by their alliance. While months of raiding might seem fine, it's definitely fun and profitable, but it forces nations into a monotony and forces them to stay at around C3 to C5 in order to have nations in range. To fix this, and open up raiding to a larger group of people, I had the idea to open up inactive war ranges to anyone, meaning nations are no longer locked into C3 to raid, rather they can raid any inactive nation up and down the score range at any city count. However, the big point of contention is at what point a nation is considered "inactive" and therefore raidable, that (along with support for this feature) is the subject of this poll. - Nations are considered inactive after 3, 5, 7, 14, 30 days Conclusion There's some ideas for helping new players get a better start and improve their experience, and in the process hopefully make the game more fun for everyone else! Please super duper pretty please vote in the poll and comment your thoughts below (or feel free to send me a DM on Discord, @Village#0001)! I'm looking for feedback on the ideas (why something should/shouldn't be implemented, how it should be implemented), the method of writing posts that I've chosen (what you like, what you don't like, what I can do better next time), and any other ideas you guys might have. Hope to see some amazing thoughts below! Have a wonderful day everyone! DISCLAIMER: The above ideas and poll results are NOT a guarantee that something will be added to the game, they are meant to get feedback on some ideas and to generate new ideas.

  8. If you make the bonus decrease by 10% of the bonus per city after 10, then building new cities effectively makes your revenue not move, and I don't think that's a good thing. Instead, the game should further incentivize raiding. If you really want new nations to catch up, you could tweak the city cost formula instead. I'm no math genius, but here's propositions, if anything. Here's the current formula 50000*(x-1)^3+150000*x+75000 Under this formula, going from c1 to c10 costs $72,225,000, and c10 to c20 costs $1,419,750,000. Here's a proposed revised formula between cities 1 and 19 (included) (10000+x*2000)*(x-1)^3+150000*x+75000 Under this revised formula, going from c1 to c10 would cost $40,521,000, and c10 to c20 would cost $1,204,986,000. After c20, the cost would revert to the current city formula instead. For maximum ease of viewing, refer to this handy-dandy chart. (Red is current formula, green is proposed new formula) Crucially, you may notice that the city cost eventually catches up with the current formula, but getting the earlier cities is cheaper, and helps push nations to the mid-tier quicker. Now, a few things should be taken into consideration with this new formula. Not least of which being, how does this interface with the urban planning projects? Let's look at Urban Planning first ($50,000,000 discount per city, starting at c11). With this new formula, c12 would cost $33,725,000, or $32,038,750 with the Manifest Destiny domestic policy (or $31,195,625 with Government Support Agency). And now, Advanced Urban Planning ($100,000,000 discount per city, starting at c16). With this new formula, c17 would cost $144,225,000, or $137,013,750 with the Manifest Destiny domestic policy (or $133,408,125 with Government Support Agency) . We notice that in both cases, the discount is high enough that cities would hit a negative cost, which is not desirable. What I can propose to counter that is a minimum city unmodified cost of $225,000, or $213,750 with Manifest Destiny (or $208,125 with Government Support Agency), which is the cost of c2. Using Domestic Policy (boosted by Government Support Agency) and both Urban Planning projects the moment they become available, the minimum cost of getting to c20 would become $514,593,400, as opposed to the approximately $609,876,250 (Look, I did a lot of math, let me be lazy and just use the wiki's number and not recalculate for the 7.5% discount provided by GSA this time) that it does now. It would reduce the cost of going from c1 to c20 by 16%. Of course, that's only one proposed formula, it can be tweaked further, or differently if the idea is close to your heart. Anyway, enough math, more coffee. ☕

  11. That's an interesting idea, I think that'd be really interesting. Thanks for the feedback! Interesting idea as well, we're looking at some very similar stuff right now to limit the range/loot and I'll make sure this one gets brought up, thanks for your feedback! Thank you for your feedback! We're looking at some ideas regarding this right now, I'll make sure this one ends up in the discussion as well! Thank you so much Exalts, that's a really good idea, and thank you for the formulas! I'll make sure this gets brought up as well. Yes! The goal is to make the game a little more engaging and encourage people to get more attached to their nation and enjoy playing the game rather than being Stanley pushing buttons as he's told to. The new tutorial and PWPedia work are hopefully going to help new nations engage with Discord and the community by informing them that it exists and how the game and community works. Yes! Thank you guys SO SO SO MUCH! I super appreciate it all. I've got a long list of other ideas and concerns and have had some great discussions with people about how to refine the ideas. Thank you all!!!!!!!!!

  12. I can't tell if this is a joke or you seriously think this is the reality. You might want to see the chats themselves (not just out of context snippets) before dumbing everything down and assuming it's just "haha copium", which is ironic considering DNN basically embraces the type of people who chat/reply on forums like this (i.e people that contribute nothing, beyond spamming "penis","dnn","copium" etc). I can't comment if all you are doing is speaking in the context of your show and your personal responses, but you are also guilty by association of what you criticize. > it just sounds a lot like the average poorly-informed RON commentary and there is literally no reason to engage any of it, hence the decrease in meaningful political dialogue this war and the last few as well as the overall lower quality of political content coming out of the game yes, the reason the game got boring, ron. Are you just trolling? Or do you seriously believe this drivel? If you do, then go see the balkans for yourself, because no one chats like this other than the hof people (who are "trolling"). you might be a year or two out of date TLDR: mfw you think ron is a negative cultural influence and dnn is "positive". Have fun in your echo chamber is all I can say, really. RON doesn't have any radio shows, so I'm guessing buorhann is talking about thalmoria.

  14. Sigh.. This is why I don't normally engage. Even when valid points are brought forth the most prominent people will just gaslight their own involvement or just simply not acknowledge their own shortcomings and/or hypocrisy. You just danced around my point of you doing the exact same thing that you pinged me into your own channel for. It's not worth me responding past that either so whatever buddy, this will be the last time I ever seriously post on these forums or ever bother giving a crap about what's going on in PnW again. I have better things to do with my life frankly and I'm tired of putting in to get nothing back either. 🤷‍♂️ We all know the actual gameplay in this game is boring[and broken in so many ways], so when there's nothing around to keep players engaged it's inevitable for players to eventually just lose complete interest.

  15. Yes, I despise DMing people and avoid doing it whenever possible. There is a reason why I talk so much in public areas and not so much in DMs. I find it funny you're accusing me of being disingenuous when you're literally trying to blow a situation way out of proportion by putting negative intentions into my mouth, and honestly you're just overthinking the situation way way too much at this point. It doesn't matter about who is working or not working at RON lmao, my issue is that RON promotes a lot of short-form Twitter-like commentary that is designed only for laughs or to mock or dance around other parties without making any effort to meaningfully engage them. So when all I see on forums is "haha copium" or "I don't like you so haha sucks to be you" it just sounds a lot like the average poorly-informed RON commentary and there is literally no reason to engage any of it, hence the decrease in meaningful political dialogue this war and the last few as well as the overall lower quality of political content coming out of the game. For the rest of that paragraph and the one below, again you're overanalyzing it way too much. My world doesn't revolve around you, nor do I have the energy to concoct master plans to embarrass you or whatever (and frankly this is the last I want to speak of this already). Ah yes, copying the tS model of quoting my posts when I'm absolutely right, you love to see it. The issue I take with this is that RON USED to be good, and basically everyone I talk to these days is most in agreement with this. There was a period of time where discussion on RON was for the most part fruitful and useful and that's why I was in it. It wasn't just that more people joining the server made it worse, it was that RON started to increasingly market itself towards starting and fueling petty controversy and appealing more to a worser educated audience who liked to have big mouths and not much to show behind them. It wasn't important the quality of chat, only that chat was constantly flowing so people had a reason to stay. Eventually that got annoying enough for me to leave, and the larger RON grew and the more gutsy its members became the more negative cultural influence I perceived it to be having on the game meta and current politics. Of course no one has to put in the same effort that I do, but the fact that on average nowadays people are willing to put in much less effort than what the previous average was worries me. The truth is it doesn't have to be this way, which is why I put a lot of effort into giving serious responses regardless of source in my show and wherever I frequent so that I can educate more people in order to have more than just a few mindless words to say about things. Of course this is an ever-present issue, I'll blame stuff like Twitter/Twitch for a lot of this as well, so I'll concede blaming RON entirely is an exaggeration, but that's no reason to just embrace lower-quality content instead of trying to create a meaningful space for myself and others.

  16. I'm going to break down my take into three main parts similar to how you posted. 1. Extended new player revenue bonus I think this one is a great option, as a newbie when I first joined I was pretty shit, but I really enjoyed tinkering with the bonus to maximise my national revenue while raiding. Having a bonus from c1 through c20 would work as a decent catchup and would have the additional affect of creating more diverse tiering. Right now the main clumps in city tiers are roughly c4, c10-11, c16, c20-c21 and 30+ these are basically decided by projects (UP, AUP or MP) or raiding. By adding a city bonus revenue it might geniunely be worth more to sit at a weird city counts like c17 to make use of that 30% revenue boost than to build a city that will only add at best ~5%-6% boost to your revenue. TL:DR - I'm all for it, using 200% from c1 through to c20 sounds quite interesting the more I think about it. (more diverse builds, tiers etc) 2. Increased login bonus. Going to further break this into two sections, newbie login bonus and general login bonus Newbies: Personally I think a 2x bonus for newbies works quite well, it gives a nice revenue boost and gives incentives for them to log in for an extended period of time, ideally it should be set up (in my opinion) so that new players take AT MOST 30 days of consistent login to reach the max bonus, but at minimum 10-15 days. This makes it more rewarding for them to actively login and build up a routine for playing the game. (this is assuming the new player bonus last 60 days) All: For the general bonus I think an increased amount would be interesting, however in my opinion the way it works should be something like this: Max bonus = 3mil Your bonus increase = 50k Failure to log in = 10% to 30% bonus loss E.g each day I log in I get 50k closer to the max bonus, taking 60 days to reach it (for newbies they would get 100k each day), if I was at 1mil and missed a log in I would lose 30% effectively resetting me to zero. (30% of the max which would be ~1mil removed). If I had hit the max bonus of 3mil I would only drop to 2mil on the first day I missed my login, 1mil on the second missed day and lose the entirety on the third. If the reduction was a lower percentage like 25% it would take 4 days to compleletly lose a max log-in bonus. This allows people a little bit of lee-way for missing a login while still harshly punishing them. 3. Raiding and inactive nations Great idea, but it should work like the new player bonus. E.g Starting from C1 you get a 100%/200% down/up declare bonus range, for each city after that 5/10% is removed from that bonus. This means a c1 would have an effective range of 125% down declare (can hit literally anything below) and a 275% updeclare. c5 would have 100% down declare, 225% updeclare c10 would have 75% downdeclare, 175% updeclare c15 would have 50% downdeclare, 125% updeclare c20 would have the normal ranges of 25% down and 75% up. The idea here is to allow this change to primarily benefit people below c10 while giving the sub 20s a bit more wiggle room when it comes to raiding. (This "buff" could either only work on inactive nations or just be a general change to how war ranges work, I wouldn't mind low tiers having more harpoon abilities would give them more power during wars) Inactivity should be based on 14 in my opinion, A week is quite short in the grand scheme of things since many things in life could screw you over there (such as power outage, hospital etc) but two weeks is long enough to remove 99% of reasons for not being able to log in once. Also the egg came first just not from a chicken as we know it

  18. Well the goal is that folks will be slightly sensible, as unreasonable as that might be. 😜 This is meant to be a catchup, as much as older players may get a login boost as well, new players get a significantly larger one making it easier to catch up, I do agree though. Yeah, I've got some ideas around that I'm going to be working through at a later date. Thank you guys for the feedback!

  31. The chicken and egg question reveals quite a lot about the human psyche. According to evolution, the first chicken was hatched from an egg that was created by something that wasn't quite a chicken yet. Therefore, everyone who answered that the chicken came first, is in fact a creationist. :galaxy brain:

  32. My main issue with this is being able to raid an inactive regardless of score. Personally I think this will do the exact opposite of helping new players. Well I understand it means players could get cities and keep raiding it also means that C40s with nothing better to do during peace can just steal the 30-40m inactive C4s have. This will not only mean a C40 can get an extra 150m every two days (30m X 5 wars) but it also means any good targets will be taken leaving new players with no one to raid at all. To put this into a bit more perspective let's say all of Rose can now raid any inactive that is 199 players being able to attack lets say C5 inactives. At 5 wars each that is nearly 1000 potential targets for new players to hit gone... by just Rose alone. There is also no reason for people not to do it as it will increase peacetime profit and have no repercussions because almost all inactives at that level are not in an alliance to counter for them. With that said my suggestion would maybe be that only new players can raid any inactive regardless of score. This would be similar to how new players get additional money for 60 days. After 60 days players can no longer raid any inactive player.

  33. The following is of my own opinion and similar to belly buttons in that everyone has one, not everyone may enjoy mine 1. I'd prefer to keep it in line with the resource project bonus and have it's effectiveness end at C15. 2-5. Increase the maximum login bonus to $3M for everyone and $6M for new players. Still keeps the catchup mechanic and incentivizes activity for older players. Change the daily increase to $100k per day. 6. The only alternative I would offer to the current setup is to double/triple the range in which they can be targeted. Allows some of the smaller nations to still dip into the smaller targets, or not be forced to delete cities to be in range, but I think the meta for them raiding is purely optional, as some alliances will opt to boost members to c10 right as soon as they can with all of the new player bonuses. If the range is removed completely: - You would need to adjust how nations coming off of beige who are active get auto-put on gray allowing c12-20 to get targeted by fully milled C40's, or else that would be absolutely abused. - I would be interested to see how that would affect wars if everyone's slots were used to raid inactives'. I'd also be concerned about the veterans abusing it will simultaneously pushing the newer players with less experience beige sniping and finding targets in general out. In summarization: Expand the range if people feel the need for raiding to be more accessible, but I think it's a fair and optional meta. 7. Leave the inactive range the same, 7 Days. I don't feel there is a strong need for this to be changed. 8. Obviously the chicken. Anyone else who says otherwise is eggtremely mistaken. 9. Ye

  34. I actually like the motivation here, I think the game is very in need of things to help new players, but the reason we need that is so they can still compete with older established players in the long term. The daily bonus changes are helping not only new players but also established players. We already have plenty of new whale boosting mechanics, this might be small but it still exists. As far as the raiding, do you mean only small nations would be able to raid up and down, or would everyone? If that's the case alliances with lots of inactives are going to find themselves getting raided all the time, and i'm not a milcom expert but I suspect this could be an issue in war too, where nations are declaring on random inactive small nations to fund things while in a blockade, etc, something not really possible at higher city counts. Again though, interesting ideas for sure

  36. Reading this thread was kinda a wild ride. At one stage Oreo seems to be saying they need 500+ nations to deal with GGO because the lower tiers don't matter and the whales are OP. Then they argue that Midgard (a low to mid tier sphere) is a match for their sphere (a upper to whale tier sphere).

I find it frankly embarrassing that one of the formerly most vocal players decided to dedicate themselves to permanent ally and devotee of Rose when you and your alliance could be trying for so much more. I did my part to light the fire and burn paper already. It seems like your only idea of chaos is living in an upside down logic world where only you and your allies are able to take a collective dump on the rest of the game. If that was your goal, I hope you're proud of yourself. Except that this is the closest we have ever come to minispheres by far. Just as we came this close to greatness certain people decided to go in the complete opposite direction. All this does is give the people who made this sphere an excuse to justify something which, I daresay, at least some of them knew was an indication that something has gone horribly wrong.

  38. Been a minute Leopold. Hope you're well man! Anyways, just to throw in my 2 cents. I think a lot of the want for IC content requires alliances to have goals and being willing to sacrifice political capital to achieve them. The current generation of leaders seemed to agree on a lot tbh, there isn't much meta conflict. Whatever dissent there has been against a successively downsizing sphere meta has slowly been pummeled into submission. You have to be pro-minipsheres/multipolarity (I guess now even "paperless+") in order to be taken seriously at an FA level. And don't get me wrong, this makes me very happy as it was a vision I encouraged during my tenure in TKR FA. That said, the politics of the game seems to have been reduced from an ideological conflict on the meta direction to a set of oscillating grudges and notions of competitive wars based on tiering. The reason why I'm quoting you Leo is because that's something I had admired of T$ in the past. I never liked the forum shenanigans, but the idea that y'all would take a stance and stick with it was a good thing. Upper tier consolidation, for example. I disagreed with a lot of it, and I think you took it way too far. But it drove conflict and eventually became a tenet of the meta. Another thing is the green color warfare. There's a balance to be had between verbally abusing people and a principled ideological battle. So bottom line is that current FA folks need to think about their priorities. Is it solely a strategic game now of friends and enemies where you're just trying to maximize the time you're on top? Or do you have a vision for the future of the game and are willing to put yourself on the line to achieve it?

  39. Damn RON, the cause of all our problems!!!! 😤 I didn't mean to derail this post, which is why I initially responded with a meme to your comment and didn't argue further, but since it's already been derailed and made into this tit for tat, i'll bite and go down this rabbit hole. I hope this will be the first, and last WoT that i post about this. Apologies in advance @Marika Back when I started getting into community servers, around, what 2018-19?, there wasn't really (m)any public places for everyone in P&W to come together to have conversations. Sure, there were the forums, the official server, and other places such as news servers and some radio shows here and there, but each had its own shortcomings, such as the forums being dead, the official server being plagued by noobs and heavy handed moderation (Yes, I know I'm one to talk), and other community servers being both. The reason RON grew and "pioneered the model" as you say, is because we brought a few people in the community together to talk regularly in the balkans. A few turned into some, some turned into more, and it became what it is today. What I mean to get at is, RON didn't create this "dumbed down politics" with nothing but witty one liner remarks you ceaselessly accuse us of, it's a natural result of people interacting with others on a browser game. The main issue is, you can not expect everyone to be as involved in this game as you are, and contribute to any discussion, be it on the forums or somewhere else, as constructively or with the same passion as you can. In reality, that only happens with a fraction of the people in any community, which is why you see the same people engaging in public settings no matter where you go. The reason you can correctly claim to have invested more than most into making the forums active, is because there isn't that many people who care about the forums/game/community as much as you do, and that isn't your fault, but constantly complaining about it and pointing fingers at this perceived reason isn’t helping anyone. This problem existed in some form or another before we/you did, and it'll still exist long after we've left the game. So, please, drop this pointless vendetta, and, to quote you, focus your ire/energy somewhere else.

  41. The best way to win on these forums is just to not post. And now I've lost.

  42. Right... If I'm FA in an alliance it's always that I can't be trusted because I have a self interest in that alliance. If I intentionally avoid FA because I get shit for it, both because of the bot and generally sucking at it anyway.. then I'm not accountable to anyone. I'm part of the community just as much as anyone else. Maybe motive or reasons don't matter to you, but any rational person has reasons for doing something. I've spent countless hours creating tools for the community, helping people with said tools, helping the game devs fix a multitude of critical vulnerabilities and giving my feedback about changes to the game - because I genuinely care about it. To ruin that kind of investment and enjoyment for someone else is horrible. I haven't built a city in over a year. Locutus and offshoring is what I do. No one is forcing you to use it. It's open source, so you can even host it yourself like Simons does (although perhaps not the most convenient). But, if you want to do actual risk assessment, that would be better than shouting fire. Banks get looted, couped, governments have disagreements and splits etc. People in your alliance and their human error etc. can be just as much a liability It's not exactly a clear thing to me that the kinds of alliances that offshore with me are worse off by having an independent offshore with a track record, and access controls. Also, micros exist. I realize you don't think a lot of them should, but imo that's a rather toxic position to take. I've spent most of my time either solo raiding or in micros, and it's a more appealing playstyle. Alliances should have the tools to better manage themselves so new players dont have a bad experience.
