  1. I’ll keep this brief. The Covenant has been around for a very long time. It was the first bloc on Orbis, and up until just a few hours ago, the oldest active treaty in Politics and War. But now, the Covenant truly is a thing of the past. 3 days ago we informed The Commonwealth that we were withdrawing from the treaty in order for us to stake a new path for UPN. The 72hour grace period has now passed and thus, so has the Covenant. Thank you Commonwealth, and thank you to all former members of the Covenant.

  2. Pretty simple suggestion. Add a "veteran player" mask that people can ask for (similar to VIP) that flags them as someone willing to help newbies or anyone with a PnW-mechanics / bug question. Allow people to ping this group with questions. Viola. Newbies don't spam-ping Alex all the time with things, and there's a group of volunteers engaging the newbie community. I will be happy to be the first volunteer.

  3. Aight screw that format Hello World! My name is Mutsu, and I've been playing this game for a short time now. The more I learn about the history of it and its mechanics, the more interesting it becomes. I really look forward to playing this and participating in the community for a long time. My country is called Cyberjaya, and I am part of United Ummah. Stay safe!

  10. "Murdered protestors with their cars" was not Proud Boys or III%ers. That was a screwed up Nazi who was a terrorist. Kyle RIttenhouse can only be charged with illegal possession of a firearm, as he acted in self defense. This isn't even a debatable point. Not only that, he was not part of the Proud Boys or III%ers. The leader of the Proud Boys is black. Just saying. I've heard plenty of democrats call for Trump to be shot. Your point? The Michigan storming of the government building was not Proud Boys or III%ers, it was an unorganized riot. Which, to clarify so you don't call me a hypocrite, they should have been arrested. The III%ers denounced Jerry Varnell. In fact, you should read the manifesto that the III%ers have. I read it. Cuz I'm an associate member of them. 😛 They weren't III%ers. The cop had previous connections to the III%ers which were never confirmed. Your whataboutism not withstanding, because the groups themselves have never done anything wrong. Sure some crazy mofo goes nuts and does something stupid. Oh, he was part of the III%ers 20 years ago? Apparently now it's their fault. Get your facts straight, and come back when you're ready.

  11. It is with great sadness that I have to inform of the most recent death to the Orbis community. About a month or two ago a member of Terminus Est's high gov, Stavros Cassadine, told us that he had been diagnosed with cancer. In addition to this, he was also battling a heart condition. Recently, his condition severely worsened and he had to go through multiple surgeries, all of which had complications. Nonetheless, like the fighter I knew he was, he came through these operations and just before Christmas came off the ventilator. However, while recovering post-op, he caught Covid-19. This unfortunately he did not survive from. He was a fantastic face to have around our discord and was a great friend to myself and others. I know that all those who knew him will agree with me that he will be missed dearly within our community. Rest in peace Stav. https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=214086 (For your information there is a family member on his account which is the reason he may drift in and out of activity)

  13. A short while back I suggested this: "@" in buying units - Game Suggestions - Politics & War Forum (politicsandwar.com) It was a widely well recieved quality of life suggestion, i so i tought it would be worth it to expand on it. @ In Alliance Banks Now I am basically proposing the same for people who deposit into the alliance bank. If I remember correctly depositing and withdrawing are 2 diffrent screens so this wouldn't affect people with bank permissions in weird ways. In essence this proposal would make it so that if you type @25000 (for example aluminium), everything in excess of 25000 aluminium would be deposited into the alliance bank. This could be used to make sure you don't have too many resources on your nation just before a war. This would (quite obviously) be limited to the amount of resources you have on hand, you wouldn't be able to do cheeky withdraws this way. @ In Trading This would work just like you would expect it too. When creating a sell offer (let's say @25000 aluminium) everything in excess of 25000 aluminium would be sold at the price you put. When responding to a buy offer it would make it so you have the amount you want (capped at the size of the listed trade). When creating a buy offer (let's say @25000 aluminium) it would create a buy offer for the amount of aluminium you need untill 25000. When responding to a sell offer (let's say @25000 aluminium) you would buy enough resources for you to get 25000 aluminium. The four listed proposals would obviously be limited to the size of the trade offers or to how much you have on hand. This proposal also has an "extension" which would probably make it easier to implement and would be a QoL feauture on it's own, this can be found here: Rounding resources to the closest natural number (QoL) - Game Suggestions - Politics & War Forum (politicsandwar.com) ~~Belgium

  14. The title explains itself. I don't think anyone cares about whatever amount of money behind the decimal point. Will some people gain and some people lose resources?; yes, but the rules will be the same for everyone and the playing field will be equal. This is actually an extension to this: "@" in depositing to the alliance bank + trading (QoL) - Game Suggestions - Politics & War Forum (politicsandwar.com) post I made. Because this proposal might be a lot easier if we round up numbers. (for example what if someone has 25,000.7 aluminium and sells down to @20000, we can't sell .7 of a resource..) This is however a different post because it touches on a completly diffrent thing and people might have reasons to support one and oppose the other. ~~Belgium

  20. After the events of today, I cannot, in earnest honesty, continue arguments that will devolve into ad hominem attacks. Attack me all you wish, but I cannot argue anything more but the unity of the American people in the wake of the blood spilled in the Capitol today. Communist or fascist. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, or even independent. It doesn't matter - no socioeconomic system of ours cannot work without the content of the governed, be it capitalism, communism, or any other forms. We are all workers. We are all humans. We are in this together.

  23. Gonna have to chime in on this one, because far-right extremism has been surging in the US. Proud Boys/3pers have committed many, many crimes in the last 5-10 years that it's almost incomprehensible you won't declare the more heinous acts terrorism, because they are literally using fear as their motivation. How are they a mercenary company? They were founded to stop "White Genocide", which doesn't exist in any way shape or form. I think it's disingenuous to separate the Proud Boys and 3pers from other far right extremists since it's a nebulous movement as with Patriot Prayer and other groups, but they are all rooted in white nationalism. I mean just off the top of my head you have: Murdered protestors with their cars. (Heather Heyer) Pittsburgh Synagogue mass shooting Kyle Rittenhouse killed someone and is currently being charged for murder the leader of the Proud Boys got arrested 2 nights ago in DC for stealing a historically black church's BLM flag and burning it Calling for the Michigan Governor to be kidnapped Storming the Michigan Capitol building with AR-15's. Jerry Varnell (3per) was arrested trying to be a Oklahoma City bomber copycat Those 3pers that blew up that Minnesota Islamic center a few years ago (one of whom was a cop) I could probably find so many more instances, but how are these not terrorism? I'm just not sure how you can so casually call Antifa a terrorist organization and in the same sentence dismiss the Proud Boys/3pers as a "Mercenary Company".

  24. I, on the other hand, think it's just enough. It is enough to survive off of, yet it's not enough to be comfortable. It encourages work while allowing a floor to stand on. I disagree strongly with this point. First, most anarchists do not have governments. They may have some organization, but not governments. The Zapatistas are primitive to modern standards, they are mere mayan farmers. Albeit, violent and dangerous ones. Here is where you kinda go off the deep end imo. Terrorism has a specific definition, and any who meet that definition are terrorists. Be it the KKK, Black Panthers, ISIS, and arguably Antifa. The Proud Boys are as much terrorists as the III%ers. They aren't, in other words. They are more of a mercenary company than a terrorist group. On the flip side, Antifa activists/proponents/supporters/members have been known to commit violent crime and use fear to their advantage. Making them, de jure, terrorists. I would not say no chance, at least not in today's society. It's much harder sure. But some of the richest and most powerful people in the modern era have started from nothing and built themselves up. If someone loses their job they do have options. Either they can search for a new one, start a business, learn a new skill, etc. etc. No..not exactly. In a city, for sure. But out where I live, there is plenty of wildlife and farmland to live off of. And most people arent poor. Most people are middle class. Our income equality is only larger because back then even the monarchs didnt have running water, electricity, cars, internet, planes, healthcare, etc. etc. Now most people do. And a very very very minute amount of people don't.

  25. Again I support the UBI, which would fix that. I think the UBI would overall help the poor while not punishing the rich. Ehh... the Nazis still had a government, the Catalonians didn't last long enough for us to know, and the Zapatistas live off the land. They are Mayans and, I should note, are terrorists. What is systemically in pain? The only real issues we have in our society (that can be attributed to capitalism) are high medical prices, large wage gap and no unemployment safety net. Imagine how lucky we are to be able to say that's our issues. 200 years ago, medicine was more lethal than the disease, everyone was poor except the .1% and you were forced to work. Now is not so, and you can thank capitalism for that. I think if you read up on the UBI you'll come to support that, rather than the total overthrow of the government.

  26. Capitalists aren't against charity though. Bill Gates, for example. I whole heartedly support charity and non-profit organizations, and I volunteered for the red cross for a year. The military, even. Everyone is fed. I'm not saying your principles are wrong, they aren't. In fact I think everyone does them on a small scale. But toppling the whole of society and governance because some people are not as well off as others is naive. Consider this, the modern impoverished american has a better standard of living than a middle class englishman in the 1600s. Look how far we've come! Why ruin it? My father used to tell me this all the time (he still does), "Don't cut your nose off to spite your face". What he means by that is don't make stuff worse because stuff is bad. Rather, it'd be better to try and fix this system and iron out the wrinkles in it.

  27. This pretty much. Most importantly to me, there is a myriad of ethical concerns in this kind stretching of the moderation reach. There are also very important practical issues. A good place to start would be what if the hosting server (rightly I might add) refuses to allow access? Is Alex supposed then threaten to ban them too? Pretty sure that would be a violation of Discord's ToS to say nothing of US law. And even with access there are still many ways to hide stuff on Discord; And most servers are not set up to handle them reliably. So even ethics and availability concerns aside, a program like this would require Discord's platform level tools. In principle I do agree that the official areas should have a more cohesive moderation system both in rules and punishments, including some 'global' level punishments. That being said, there are certainly issues, mainly with the ability to adequately track and link accounts on various platforms. Some stuff has been taken up cross platform before, but its an exception not the rule because it requires a large time investment from staff to do that. Shifty makes a great point here as well. When ever a rule exists, there will always be a line of people trying to bend it in their favor or alter its interpretation to their favor. It's also possible to make a mistake, even acting in good faith. In fact thats guaranteed. You are unquestionably requesting PW staff moderate other servers. That it is only in one area, does not change what it is. ``````````````````````````` Now as the Lead Mod for the official server, I have severe ethical concerns with even attempting such a course as OP has requested. Especially when the needed tools for such a venture are not even obtainable much less actively available. So the answer is a flat no. Part of being a mod or having any authority for that matter, is knowing where your authority should stop, and this is very much past that line. It is ultimately the right and responsibility of Discord's team to moderate their platform. And it is to them you'll need to take up any issues outside of PW's small confines.

  35. Trump haters should remember something. President Trump gave us $1,200 stimulus payments, plus $500 per child. That money has helped a lot of good people during this terrifying pandemic. I realize that Donald Trump isn't the greatest President we've ever had. If I were to say that he's another Abe Lincoln, I would be a liar. He's no Abe Lincoln and neither is Joe Biden. Trump has some flaws but so do all people (and that includes Joe Biden). Trump isn't perfect and you and I aren't perfect either.

  40. Not touching on all the pissing and moaning from the usual suspects or anything approaching the philosophical, if sheepy told his lawyer that he was going to treat player servers as an extension of the game space, his lawyer would probably beat him to death. The liability implications are terrifying, even behind an LLC. The fact that he allows players to link to outside discords already is an absurd amount of risk. There is a reason Steam has a pop up every time you click a link that takes you off site. It's to get the disclaimer in front of your face. The solution is simply more of the current moderation. Sheepy has a system but it seems to be lacking the personnel to implement it. The only change in moderation I would suggest is faster bannings of obvious bad actors. If someone only posts in drama threads and has a order of magnitude higher ratio of rule breaking posts than the average active player, they can pretty safely get pushed out the door faster. Same goes for repeat offenders who do things like, I don't know, come back to the report where they were given a warn to do the exact same thing they were warned for.
