  1. It saddens me to have to announce that Sphinx has stepped down as TCW Prime Minister as of earily this morning. He has announced that Putmir will be taking over until such time a proper election is held. Sphinx will remain in TCW but will be entering an extended vm due to RL obligations. Any FA interactions can be done though Me, or by contacting Putmir, Purplemoon, or RH. For the Commonwealth

  3. Hi MBaku. This has been mentioned before, but I will repeat it for you, since you spent some time to provide stats and well-formatted arguments. Our war is not a closed system. Arrgh is not raiding just Swamp. It is raiding other alliances too, at the same time. The losses you present (the $5B) are just replenished by that loot. You can use Borg's bot to get a rough number for that. We can keep up this war indefinitely, as we've been doing for the past 6 years. What you seem to misunderstand is this: you think that Arrgh has a peace-mode. It doesn't. The only thing you achieve with this war is to be the only bloc filling our defensive slots, while in "normal times" these slots are distributed among all Orbis alliances. In other words, your greatest achievement is countering for all of our raids in Orbis and letting the other alliances relax.

  6. So as things currently stand, radiation (and Food production penalties) is pretty dynamic, in a war it can literally change every second. For a game that mostly revolves around turns, I think radiation needs a little love. What I'd first like to suggest is that radiation is updated only at turn change, as one of the first things before processing Nation income. The radiation page should also be updated to show not only the current radiation, but a table of the past 50-100 turns (and maybe some pretty graphs). This will give players an easy way to track trends in the radiation and plan accordingly. The second change I'd like to suggest, is that radiation affects more than just Food production. High radiation levels should affect all production and nation income (a lesser version of having a city nuked). Your citizens aren't going to necessarily want to work and some of the weaker ones may end up dying. This will add another aspect to wars, as heavy nuke use will affect the entire player base (and may cause friction with alliances that heavily use nukes in war).

  7. I don't think I've seen anything along this line of project proposal so here is what I propose: A project that allows for the partial recovery of damaged goods on the battlefield of your nation (when you are the defender). Project name: Battle Ground Recovery Prerequisite: Recycling Initiative or Green Technologies Cost: $25,000,000 1000 Gas, Steel, Aluminum 2000 Iron, Lead, Bauxite Effect: At the end of (a defensive battle? a war?) a portion of steel, aluminum, and munitions (random 1% to 10% for each) expended by both parties within the project owner's nation territories are recovered as their base material (IE: 1000 steel lost on the battle field could return 10 to 100 iron). I believe this is very simple and straight forward: please ask any questions if I left something out and I will edit this to include any missing information.

  8. Alliance militaries would be a mechanic to help defensive nations in a war. It would allow them to gather soldiers from other nations in their alliance, but only if the nation agreed to it. There would also be a maximum amount of troops you could get from other nations. This would be more true to life because in pnw, you have to blitz someone with 3 wars to get a true counter. But in real life, such as in the Korean War, the UN brought troops from different countries that did not necessarily declare war on their own, but with the United Nations. In order for it to not be overpowered, there would be a certain limit on the amount of troops, and the troops would be put back in each nation after the war is over, but some of them might not go back to the original nation because they were killed in fighting. This mechanic would only be able to apply to the nation on the defensive side in alliances. What do all of you think? I would love to hear from you, and I accept any criticism on this topic.

  9. Take care Sphinx, I enjoyed the history conversations (both Panth history and real history) and I'm sure we'll see you return here. Congrats Putmir - it's not easy when you suddenly get the job like this, best of luck going forward.

  11. let me rephrase that for you : Arrgh is spending $100 million of swamp's tax money. You fund my warmachine, I bomb your infra, you counter, collect the leftover resources and leave. That's it, that's your big plan in a nutshell. Also, let this thread die already smh

  16. This play may be an “OP move” for the next war. Swamp knew they would get their ass kicked in a fair fight or against a decent sphere, so they gave themselves an out with this Arrgh war. I can hear it now: “we would have done well in <insert war name here>, but we were busy dealing with Arrgh”.

  17. I can answer that for you. Yes it is. Everything in this game is a cash or resource sink. New cities, projects, Indra, units. These games are resource management political simulators. A large reason for the tank steel cost reduction is because of overly steel sink tanks were.

  18. @BrythonLexiraises a good point but I do think a way to defend alliance members is far overdue. What if contributing used war slots? That way alliances would need to prioritize which members to defend.

  21. Absolutely not. Wars would become very much impossible to win other than inactivity and no-alliance raids. Say there was a global between Bloc A and Bloc B. In this scenario, Bloc A would lose all their attacks against B, and win all their defenses against B. Bloc B would lose all attacks against A and vice-versa. You're basically asking for World War 1 but worse.

  22. I'd also argue that the main cost of this war isn't a visible one tracked by Borg or Carthago's bots. It's the reputation of these Swamp alliances, fresh off a victory, now looking like a paper tiger while Arrgh continues to mount billions per day in damages. It's also worth wondering how many nations have sold infra or refrained from building/rebuilding during this time. Peacetime is prime growth and tiering opportunity that "major powers" can't afford to miss. I'm sure Quack, Rose, and Hedge are just looking on with popcorn in-hand at this point while the sphere with the largest lower tier(s) is hampered from growing into a threat while they tighten their tiering and grow fat on that 3.5k+ infra.

  26. You don't care about your infra because your alliance will reimburse damages anyway. That's a really irresponsible way to look at things. Alliances entrust their members with funds and their government with funding decisions. The funds belong to the alliance and its members. Not caring how these are spent is like not caring about the very fact members are taxed (being stolen money for a common goal [that does not exist, in this case]). The said members: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=230114 (inactive since August, 7 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=138153 (inactive/ no-raids declared since August, 6 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=242546 (inactive since beginning of September, 3 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=244183 (inactive, no raids/wars ever declared, 2 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=243607 (inactive, no raids/wars ever declared, 2 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=241227 (inactive, no raids/wars ever declared, 2 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=241839 (inactive, no raids at all, 5 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=243098 (inactive, no raids/wars ever declared, 2 cities) https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=245297 (inactive, no raids/wars ever declared, 2 cities) We mostly removed just the new players that joined for a few days and never played again. tl;dr: 3 weeks and counting, with not a single pirate/raider being removed from Arrgh. You are close though. We will surrender soon and get a loan to rebuild.

  28. I know this has been suggested many times before in many different degrees of complexity, yet despite support everytime that I have seen, it still hasnt happened: Add another officer rank so that leaders dont have to choose between giving all in game officers bank access and giving their bank gov the all powerful Heir position. A simple problem, a simple solution. Would I prefer a more complex solution like an admin panel to control who can do what? yes, but I have given up on that dream...

  29. The Old Allies Foreword: Although times change through hardship and endurance, it was inevitable that Terminus Est and The Wei were going to have a passionate relationship again. Old allies that have fought side by side for years through conflict and struggle are finally getting back together, with the hope of success and intimacy for both alliances as they work as closely as they have done in the past. Article 1: Devotion Both parties agree that while the treaty is still in place, to uphold a state of peace between the two alliances, and that any disagreements will be sorted in the bedroom. Article 2: Intelligence Both parties agree that out of respect for each other, any intelligence that could help either alliance out -- potentially relationship-harming hotties -- should be immediately shared with the other. Article 3: Defense Both parties agree that should either the other come under attack, the other will immediately and to the best of their ability, help the other in mutual defense. Article 4: The End Should either party want out of this treaty, they will give the other alliance seventy two hours notice of their breakup. TL;DR If you haven’t already somehow realised, Terminus Est and The Wei enter an agreement of mutual defence. Signed on Behalf of Terminus Est: Warmaster: FinlayMac Warmaster: Boyce the Great Primarch of Immediate Altercations (IA): The Arctic Explorer Primarch of Chaos Est: Stavros Cassadine Primarch of Milcom: DragonK Primarch of your butt: Morte Signed on Behalf of The Wei Regent: James XVI Regent: Penguin Flying General: Damid Canter Excellency: Boris Underground

  30. Short Description During wars it will become possible for players to steal a small percentage of land held by the other player during ground attacks. How it would work If a ground attack is successful then land would be taken from the city with the highest amount of land on the opposing side and be given to whichever one of your cities have the least amount of land. The amount stolen would probably be between 1-3% of a city’s land for each ground attack depending on certain criteria like troop count, war type, etc. These numbers should be a small enough amount stolen where it would be hard to abuse the mechanic effectively while still providing a reward for the victor. These numbers could change and i don’t expect them to stay the same after feedback. Benefits It would add a little more realism to the game as territory control shouldn’t be static in wars. It may also deter pirates or others being countered heavily from investing all of their money into land when they get blockaded. Tldr: Steal some land in wars

  31. This is silly. So much hubris and ego on these forums. Let's be honest. Arrgh is getting it's butt kicked. Just some basic arithmetic should clear this up. I know it's fun to talk about burning pixels and destroying infra and all that but there's only so much infra to destroy. You can talk a big game with all the stat padding. Obviously we have bigger infra losses, we're a bigger AA. We bought that infra a long time ago. It's a sunken cost. Sure, we'll rebuild after. AAs know infra will be lost and there are savings for that. Infrastructure is a fixed cost. The real costs are on the battlefield. Those are costs that you pay for every day. Those are costs that will just keep going up as long as this war goes on. The limit does not exist. Troops, loot, munitions, gas, steel. As of 10/26 - all of Swamp has taken 12.79b in losses, 9.37b after accounting for loot. Arrgh has taken 9.15b in losses or 5b after accounting for loot. Swamp is 600+ nations. Arrgh is 50. We're at about $15.6 million per nation (with a 600 nation lowball used), over what? almost 30 days now? So this war is costing us $521k/day per nation. Our nations are big, we have cities and commerce. With steel up again, I make that internally in like 2 turns. Arrgh is spending $100 million per nation or $3.3 million/day. That is 6 times more per nation per day on this war. Those are real day-to-day costs. Not to mention half their nations have under 10 cities. And the pirate economy has been limited due to blockades. So who really can go on longer here? Like you all have pointed out before. You're a bunch of individuals. Some of you aren't fairing well. Some nations stopped fighting back. Now they're just sitting pirate farms that I raid and recoup losses on. If this war drags on, more nations will just go into VM or stop fighting back and turn into a pirate farm. I get about $10 million every 5 days out of one. Another is blockaded and out of food. Can't trade, can't buy soldiers to raid. smh I still have a full standing military. That $10mil should cover my military upkeep. And after 12 nukes, my infra is blown to shit, so have fun trying to hurt me. My infra costs $165m total. I've taken $145m in damages and already raided $70mil to help rebuild. Keep sending those $7mil nukes my way too. LOL such a great ROI Are the 6 of you that are in net profit this war going to keep dragging the other 44 through the mud for this charade that pirates are unbeatable? We have 33 nations in net profit, and every day that number will grow at the expense of your guys.

  32. The idea is if he could use time to delete a feature why not use the same time to create a new feature. You said Alex has to use dev time wisely but deleting features is now all of sudden wise. Just a couple months ago people didn't think deleting beige was "using dev time wisely". Don't let your dislike of me get in the way of thinking logically and using facts in your statements.
