Popular Post LordRahl2
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Announcement of being a thing. Greetings Orbis. This announcement formally establishes the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The LoEG's charter is to keep the ability of individuals and rogue alliances to cause unbearable disruptions to the food supply at a suitable level. The league will be unable to stop any disruption or even a complete stoppage. However, it can and will ensure that those disruptions are limited in time.Hopefully, this will enable new players to enjoy the first few days of the game and keep economic disruptions to a minimum. The league operates to keep nukes at a reasonable level. Specifically at 1/2 of city count max nukes (rounded down). It needs to be tied to some scaling metric - city count is the most logical.LoEG conducts spy operations to bring any nation in any alliance in compliance with the 1/2 city count nuke max. The league may conduct certain actions prior to a nation reaching the max - or not.The league is an international one and ANY nation can be part of the league. They can announce their participation or not. The league will neither confirm nor deny that any nation is acting for or outside of the league. However, if a nation or group of nations is attacked for carrying out league business than that is a valid CB for all league nations regardless of alliance against the aggressor. The league will not raid to fund its activities. It will only use conventional force to defend members attacked due to league actions.Any nation may apply, via PM, to the OP of this thread. The league reserves the right to modify the max nuke count. Unfortunately, the sheep did not code the radiation thing well so as more nations build nukes the risk level increases. If you would like to apply to the league you may PM the OP of this thread. Certain requirements apply but are modified at times. The LoEG does not discriminate based on alliance or any other factor baring obvious ones. Your service with the league will not be published under normal circumstances or ever without your consent. Any member may also apply for inclusion on the Board of Observers. The league is uninterested in how alliances form or change. The league will not take sides in terrestrial wars although their members will participate or not as they desire. If your nation falls under the watchful eye of the league you will receive a warning. Details of what potential penalties you face will be included in the message. Penalties will vary. We were always here and extraordinary you just haven't seen us yet. tldr: There is now a group of players who will use spies to keep nukes at a semi-reasonable level globally. This is not an alliance specific thing - anyone can apply and we are welcoming all applicants now. WarriorSoul
Intriguing, to say the least. I'll be interested to see if it's feasible to keep this up as more nations become nuclear-capable.
Foltest
heh I wonder how many people will spy away nukes on their own AA. Interesting way of going bout this though!
Kastor
"This will definitely work" -Kastor, on Rose's blitz "This will never work" -Kastor, on a dope-ass idea Alright you've got me there it just seems foolish to think this'll work. Say you have 6 members in this league, and James II goes over the 1/2 city mark you've imposed. You, naturally, start to spy his nukes away. One of you gets caught, and Alpha starts to kill your spies for doing this. All of 1 of the league's members spies gets killed. You now have to wait 25 days for them to even become remotely helpful to you. Now you're down to 5 members, repeat this. Plus once you've got a fix on a member, it's easy to keep their spies down to prevent you from killing their spies, and I doubt any alliance will step in to stop if you're actively attacking their spies. Don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible idea, I think the 1/2 count is great. Enough to do damage in times of war but not enough to cause -100% food in every continent. But announcing it like this, imposing your will onto a sovereign alliance just isn't going to work. Reminds me of the Citadel council(no one go on white).

There are plenty of people who can spy away others nukes while avoiding their own AA. 1 Quote Warrior of Dio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfPCFQfOnLg

So let's say a Roz Wei member gets caught spying away Alpha's nukes. There's still members in other AAs who will continue to do their LoEG duty. Now Alpha is more than welcome to spy retaliate against Roz Wei, but... will Roz Wei tolerate that? =3 That's the genius of having members from all AAs contributing to the cause of keeping the nuke production to a reasonable level. 1 1 Quote Warrior of Dio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfPCFQfOnLg

Willam von Waldreich
Does this not in some way take away from the rights of a nation? I mean imposing such a rule would leave some to believe that they are not "free" to do as they seem fit. Not arguing though, this does sound interesting to say the least. Harrison Richardson
Aren't nations free to, say, produce food? Don't nukes deter that free will? 3 Quote ☾☆ And Dio said unto him, "I trust you. Share my word."

Willam von Waldreich
Ahhh the truth is not shown into light, its ok for SOME nations and people to have freedom to "spy away nukes" but is taboo and not ok for others to produce a large amount of nukes. You all really that butt hurt over the nukes and food thing? 2 Quote The United States of Belveria

tenk
Interesting idea. I wonder if this will band together individuals who believe in freedom from nuclear limits. That'll be cool. Foltest
Ahhh the truth is not shown into light, its ok for SOME nations and people to have freedom to "spy away nukes" but is taboo and not ok for others to produce a large amount of nukes. You all really that butt hurt over the nukes and food thing? I suspect most established nations keep a stockpile of food. During (nuclear) wars, the uninvolved are unfairly punished. The smaller nations, therefore the newer players, pay the largest price. So it's more about trying to keep the influx of new nations from suffering unduly than it is about being "butthurt". Prefontaine
What I'm curious of is if alliances will protect its members for operating a "league sanctioned attack" and getting identified.
matt2004
tbh it would look fishy when people on opposite sides start spying on one another, it just makes it hard to see which is and which is not league activity. but for the sake of new nations who don't have alliance banks storing loads of food, this is needed.
