  1. Daily login bonus is given upon logging in after the default reset time, regardless of what reset time you have set in account settings. This means that someone whose troop rebuild has not reset may get those funds early putting them at a disavantage as they can be stolen before their reset, and those whose reset is a few turns before cannot use those funds as part of a double buy putting them at a disadvatange those on default resets dont have to face. This also means that someone can log on within the window of time that would qualify as a daily login relative to their reset time, but not relative to default reset, resetting their bonus which is a bit unfair imo as they are still logging on once a day relative to their reset's timezone. Example: Player with default reset logs in at 0:01 Jan 1st (UTC time), doesn't logon until 23:59 January 2nd Player with turn 2 reset Logs on at 02:01 January 1st, doesnt log on until 1:59 january 3rd. (0:01 Jan 1st & 23:59 January 2nd in UTC-2) Both of these are 47hrs & 58 minutes but only the player on default timescale gets their full bonus, despite neither missing a login before their respective reset's timezone. Obviously when there was no ability to change your reset time earlier on this was never an issue, so this was likely overlooked with this implementation, so my proposal is simply to synchronize the daily login bonus and it's time parameters to match the time set as reset.

  2. The Syndicate is so passive in this war that battle between allies to get a slot is more exciting.

  4. Fellow Orbisans and Orbisards, I am profoundly humbled by the trust you have placed in me by electing me to this highest of offices. As your new President, I promise to lead our great community into a new golden age of peace and prosperity. With the continued support of you, the people, I will work tirelessly to ensure that the future of Orbis will be brighter than its past. As I take office, I wish to extend a special thanks to the person who made this moment possible: My ever-faithful wife @hidude45454, who never ceased to inspire and motivate me. Without her, I would not have been able to brave the pressure and scrutiny of this arduous election campaign. I also wish to extend my hand in reconciliation to those of you who did not vote for me. The responsibility of leading Orbis is not something that should ever be tainted by bi-partisan politics or past animosities, so I vow to represent all of Orbis and continue to uphold the greater good of all its citizens as my highest goal. Today is the first day of a new world, and we will proudly stride into it with an open heart and a hopeful spirit. Thank you!

  5. Context: I am Kosta, a member of Orbis like everyone else, and have been playing this game since early 2018. I enjoy P&W, the alliance that I am in and the community. I for a long while I have been a staunch defender of Alex and his vision for the game. However recently (past year) I have weakened my stance on this. My Concern: What is the point of all of us making suggestions? There are 100s if not 1000s of suggestions on this subforum. Many of which are unsuitable for the game however there is a statistical guarantee that some of them are damn great and garner quite a bit of support. I see quite a few regulars on this subforum, @BelgiumFury and @JadenStar10 to name a few. Although we do not always agree with each other I admire these individuals (and individuals like them) for having a genuine concern and care for the game and wishing to improve it. There is also a list made by @Adrienne (below) that has a ton of great suggestions for the game. However out of the many great suggestions how many have actually been implemented? More specifically, how many updates has this game actually had over time? Now I wish to make clear, I do not wish to attack Alex, nor do I ever claim that developing a game like P&W is easy. I am unsure of his personal life nor do I wish to ask about it. I respect him quite a bit for what he has done so far and appreciative of him giving me, along with many others, the opportunity to play a game such as this. However, I cannot help but feel disheartened by the pace of updates for this game and therefore the implementation of all the great suggestions. The solution?: I am not exactly sure. I haven't got exactly enough information about the logistics of P&W updates. Perhaps Alex should be more transparent about updates, why they are taking so long etc. What I do know is, the pace of these updates is unsustainable in my own opinion. I wish to approach the community on their solutions and thoughts on this? Do you think updates are coming in at a good pace? What should Alex do?

  6. *Spends all of peacetime focus internally on growing into a massive whale alliance barely in range of anyone in the game* *Whines about people not being in range during war* why don't you decom some infra and come play? Then again why sign TI if you aren't gonna shield yourself with that meat?

  8. My guess is that the instant conversational access of Discord has really driven the active player base there. Discord has several advantages over IRC in a rapid online environment. It is much easier to monitor multiple servers and rooms, there are integrated voice options and emojis, and a whole host of other benefits. Most alliances worth any salt require the use of Discord for members (or an alternative, like TKR with Slack). The downside, seemingly, is that because the game “gets played on Discord” as much as it does in the actual site itself, people have more of an incentive to hash everything out there. The news servers contribute to this as well. It strikes me as extremely curious that the PnW Discord is not the watercooler for most of the banter and posting among people from different alliances. Instead, on Discord, there are a host of other servers that fill this role. RON is probably the best known example, but radio show servers like Thalmoria and Morf Radio contribute as well. The socialization of people in game does not happen on the official sanctioned channels. Should it? The OWF really used to serve that town square role that is now not even on the PnW Sanctioned Discord so much as it is on a litany of other servers run by individuals. I am not arguing that this is good or bad, but it is not something that contributes to having public discussions on forums. Over the holidays I was watching the original Home Alone with some younger (grade school aged) family members. One of them asked me what the strange black box was that the main character was using to watch the TV. It was a VCR. I had to explain to them what VHS was. They just had no idea. In fairness, except for hipsters with fixie bikes and overpriced lattes, most people today are not choosing a vinyl record player over a streaming platform - the same is true for VHS and streaming. I use this as an analogy here too. The people who remember forums and IRC are winding their careers down and leaving, and people who do not remember what this was like are coming. They will use the tools and technologies they are familiar with to drive discourse. This is not some boomer yells at cloud judgement on the shift. It is just a part of what is happening with the cultures of this game. We do not have to trawl dozens of individual forums to do embassy politics, which is fine with me. I liked IRC, but I also like Discord and think that is has opened some new avenues for us too (and I use it in my professional life too, so take that Slack fans). I will also admit that I personally am fairly elitist about new player micros and the like. I think this has been documented a lot here, and I probably am not changing my opinion that most micros without experienced players really should not do that, and instead join a more established alliance (and there are several acceptable choices) to learn the game for awhile before making their venture. But I also probably would not post in those threads now telling those people to give up the ghost, because I feel it is not worth it. I would rather save my more limited posting energy to other threads, where some actual half-decent politics are happening. I know that runs counter to some of the narrative here about embracing the new, but I suppose there are ways to pick and choose where one expends their efforts.

  9. With the current push to improve engagement on the forum I believe a way to resist threads being derailed by dubious posts might be to have them visibly flagged within the thread for all potential contributors to see. An accompanying rule or advice that all posts under mod investigation should not be commented on. I don't think hiding the post is a good idea though unless it's grossly inappropriate (which I thought happened anyway). The intent behind this is to reign in threads that result in pages of accusations of appeasement/vicarious guilt which I think is a significant cause of thread derailment.

  11. I mean, at any given moment, if you think that I am high, there's at least a 25% chance you're correct. As I have previously clarified, I don't begrudge Grumpy for hitting us. It is now a matter of public record that I tried to repair relationships, so I'll say that I was initially disappointed that those efforts didn't bear fruit.

  14. Give nukes a 50% chance to destroy a city. Not just the infra but to actually delete a city. Make people think twice and have a real reason to go to war. Would make the game actually interesting. Meaningless wars after every NAP expires is a boring gameplay loop. There has to be real consequences. Maybe interesting politics will actually develop then.

  20. You want to fight, build up some military and get into range, and I will be happy to declare. Its not like you guys are making yourselves as small as possible, or building up tanks, hitting a guy or two, then selling off it all off to drop back out of range.

  21. Hey buddy, you going to rejoin the game yet? Or does Syndicate really have so little support these days that they need to dust off all their old leaders to get them into this thread? I can't say that I was surprised to see you pop up in here but it just makes me so sad because you remind me of the old Syndicate. You urge me to respond constructively but why should anyone take Syndicate seriously, they are not a serious alliance. They use trash CBs, they are hypocrites, and they obviously don't want to change. I think after this war everyone is fine relegating them to the trash bin of Orbis and forgetting about them. Maybe if you wanted "actionable grievances" you actually read what many in this thread have posted instead of trying to blame Orbis as a whole for their behavior. tS in a year from now will be acting the same way, with the same allies, with the same tactics and rhetoric.. Nothing will have changed.
