Ayayay
Progress Quest. Kingdom of Loathing. I'd recommend everyone try out Progress Quest, it is the first free to play MMO and is based off Everquest but has far more customization and the combat is better than any MMO I've ever played. If I played MMO's it would be Progress Quest. SAI-40
Every so often I'll get really obsessed with Space Station 13. It's this game with terrible graphics, terrible controls, an incredible learning curve, and a hardly functional user-interface. It's based in a code used by a program called "BYOND" (Build Your Own Net Dream). This game is way more fun than it has any right to be. You take a job on a Space Station, in rounds that last from like fifteen minutes to almost two hours. (The longest I played was three hours, it was crazy). There are your normal jobs--Assistant, Janitor, Chef, Captain, Doctor, Security, ect. There are really scientific jobs like Chemistry, Genetics (cloning and finding super-powers), and Xenobiology; and there are really absurd jobs--Clown, Mime. As well, one person plays the ship's Artificial Intelligence, and has control over the entire station. The game is played online with a load of other people--at peak hours there can be 60-80 people in a round. Anyways, one or a handful of people in the round are traitors. They have a small collection of objectives: Kill this person, destroy this thing, steal this object, and they always have "Escape Alive" or "Escape Alone". The round starts and everyone does their job, and things always start off quiet. Eventually, things start to explode, people disappear, and bodies start to pile up. Security is rushing around trying to figure out who it is by stomping over everyone, harassing the clown, and abusing their power. The clown drops banana peels and pulls pranks. (There was one clown who would slip people on banana peels and then steal their shoes). The Captain locks himself in his office to keep himself safe and the hoards of people calling him shit out, half the station wants to kill the AI because he can't open doors fast enough, and medical waits for people to die so they can be cloned. Eventually, the shuttle gets called and people struggle to survive as the atmosphere leaks out of the holes in the station. It's beautiful, deadly chaos--and that's just one game-mode. There's cult (where people try to convert the station and sacrifice people to summon their dark god), Nuke-op (a team of heavily armed soldiers have to find the codes for the on-ship nuke and detonate it), Malfunction (The AI goes nuts and has to convert the crew into cyborgs to take over the station), Changeling (Alien creatures slowly kill, absorb and take on the appearance of other crew members while trying to complete objectives), Wizard (A wizard attacks the station, turning people into random things and blowing them up with Magic Missiles), and Blob (A giant blob takes over the station, and the crew tries to burn it alive). Sometimes, there will be a combination of tons of them. God, I love this game. I'm going to go play now, so come join me.There are a lot of different servers, but I frequent /TG/station. If you join, remember that you are going to die a lot. This game's learning curve is ridiculous. http://www.byond.com/http://tgstation13.org/ (I play on Sybil) 2 Quote "They're turning kids into slaves just to make cheaper sneakers. But what's the real cost? ‘Cause the sneakers don't seem that much cheaper. Why are we still paying so much for sneakers when you got them made by little slave kids? What are your overheads?"
