I'm a big total war fan/player since Rome 1. I played empire offline for two years before I got a a steady internet connection, and most likely have a few thousand hours on it steam didn't track. I suppose this thread can be used for discussion or setting up mp campaigns. Let me knew if there are any TW'ers out there!

I haven't tried Attila yet to be honest, I'm a broke college student.n I'll buy it when it goes on sale. It looks solid though! I've loved the new Rome despite the birthing pains, but empire will always be special for being kick ass

Shogun fell in a tough spot for me, between new computers. My old one was in its death bed and couldn't play newer games, but I didn't have enough for a new one so juiced life out of the old. By the time I got something new and decent Rome 2 was a year out. I got a few hundred hours in on FOTS, but never got into the base game

I'm getting really hyped with total war war hammer.......to many teasers!

Honestly, I know absolutely nothing about warhammer, but the game does look pretty cool. As long as it doesn't get in the way of the other projects I'm all for it!

Medieval 2 for the win! Been playing it for a while now, I think it's simply the best Total War in the series. Very modabble, downloaded loads of mods. Shogun 2 is still awesome though, played as Ikko-Ikki all the time wipe all those ashigarus with my loan swords.

Also, I'm very hyped about Warhammer, especially the fact that it uses the Warhammer Fantasy as setting (which I think is completely underrated). Can't wait for it, hope they include Bretonnia and Warrior of Chaos.

I've got a Mac, and I know M2TW is in the App Store but I haven't invested. From what I understand it's hard to get mods that work on it. I will eventually though! I just prefer the steam system

My vote goes to Rome 1 which is such an awesome game and what got me into the franchise to begin with. It was a great game for its time and it's great today. Other than Rome 1, I enjoy Empire a lot and I've played lots of Medieval 2, especially the Kingdoms expansion pack.

Empire with the giant campaign map is a lot of fun. It gets easy pretty quickly once you take control of the trade theaters though.

I don't really like the huns that much, because they cant !@#$ have a settlement like the other great migration factions can do.

That's historically how the Huns were though, nomadic barbarians who pillaged and moved on.

I'm a diehard fan of Rome 1. I've had a lot of fun with it, and I recently downloaded it again to once again purge the filthy Gaelic menace from the future Greater Rome.

I never played total war games back when most people played them. Only a few years ago I downloaded Rome and Empire and they have become some of my favorite games.

After playing Rome 1 I tried to get into Rome 2 but I never could, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the original

I started on Rome 1 and played it for about three years. That was one hell of a game. I always loved the Egyptian faction, although, with the exception of the hordes who I just never cared for, I loved near all of them. Then along came Medieval 2, with its hot seat campaign and amazing expansion, I preferred the Americas campaign, although Teutonic was a close second. Empire changed the entire series, from its scale to how cities and armies were managed. Prussia was easily my favorite campaign. Napoleon was good, but felt the same as empire, just smaller and more focused. Shogun was awesome, but I have the least amount of play time on it. Rome 2, now that it's patched, is absolutely epic. I've got an ongoing campaign on it right now, and the expansion campaigns we great, even if a little overpriced.

Oh man, I can't vote on this.  They're all fun games to play.  Rome, Medieval, Empires - those are my favorites.  I did play Shogun 2 a lot, but kept getting memory leaks on that game for some odd reason.  Rome 2 they've improved a lot on too.  Love that they kept the diversity that Rome 1 had.

Total War: Warhammer is going to be my shit.  Hopefully they do the Old World right.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just noticed this thread! I'm a massive Total War enthusiast.

First thing I bought with my first credit card was Rome I. Man I played the hell out of that game on my crappy HP PC. I bought Medieval II shortly after it came out, but alas my computer was too puny to handle it.

It wasn't until 2008 where I was able to play Medieval II, and I fell in love. The game was the epitome of what a Total War game should be: fun, diverse in the factions and armies, and highly moddable. Mods like Stainless Steel, Broken Crescent, and Third Age (LotR-themed) were like brand new games.

It wasn't until last year where I was able to get into Rome II and Attila (this year). I have Shogun, Empire, and Napoleon in my library, but I have not touch them (yet).

With Patch 17 (which came out this past week), Rome II has been improved and I'm getting into the kick of things once more with a Carthaginian campaign. Attila is great, the only downside being that it is heavily "Germanic" in the campaign map.

I will say the best Total War game is Medieval II because of its longevity and the fact that it has actually aged well. Rome I is unplayable for me. Too dated now :/

MTW2 is my favorite followed by Rome 1, every game since (minus shogun 2) has been complete and utter trash.
