What Was It All For?

I didn't get a chance to do this the first time so I'm going to take my time with it now.
Anything in BOLD is the appreciation of either myself, the government of Black Skies or the membership.

TLDR; 4 Years of History into a single post. It's for those that care.

Black Skies has been the butt end of the joke for years. Starting from the acronym that people termed us as the "Bullshit Alliance" it quickly spiraled into faked screenshots, IRL harassment, death threats based on sexual orientation, doxxing and the leaking of IRL addresses to news sites. As soon as a player applied to or joined Black Skies a mark was placed on them to be the center of harassment and ridicule. Black Skies was built for the purpose of providing a safe haven from the taxes, strict rules and needless regulation of the top alliances. It started as one person alliance, myself, and grew into a Top 30 alliance while all the while people complained about my "inability to lead" and thought I was a "poison in the community".

The Lost Empire, under Atlan, didn't think that. Atlan knew that I'd hit bumps as it was the first alliance I'd lead and still took a chance on me. I looked up to Atlan with an immense desire to have both the affection of my members and the patience to deal with any issues like he had. I saw him as my P&W dad. Black Skies and the belief we held would not have survived without Atlan's tireless willingness to aid us. We probably would of rode through the entire game with TLE had Atlan not left the game for his brief stint. As soon as Atlan left and TLE was given the opportunity to move to a new Bloc they decided to cut us, while still keeping United Ummah.

Shoutout to United Ummah, an alliance that told Black Skies members that "The attacks on 9/11 was punishment from God on the sins of America". While allied to them under TLE, UU's low FA told our government member how to slit their wrists to bleed out faster and demanded I remove them from the alliance because of their sexual orientation.
This was the alliance that TLE preferred to keep. 

We had to bounce around from alliance to alliance, war after war, until somebody was willing to give us a chance. We made 2 Blocs, Liberty and Holy Sea, in which Black Skies was mocked and ridiculed for. Both Blocs while we entered with the hopes of prospering, fell apart due to a different alliance destroying us. Epi couped Pantheon and broke Liberty Bloc and Beans demanded we fight a war for Sanctuary and then less than 24 hours later peace out of a war, ending Holy Sea.

When Orbis Crowned News staff like Jova and Merky Mo decided to fake screenshots of myself either leaking OPSEC or using racial slurs (after members from HORDE had already faked images of me claiming I was a pedophile) it wasn't anything new. The same people attacking my character with fakes because they couldn't find any legitimate fault escalated as Krampus began spreading it over Royal Orbis News. The real life consequences that occurred from that put myself, my then girlfriend and my sister into a deep mental health spiral. Tugger and Rainbow had the courage to assist me with screenshots and photos to track down Merky Mo as the egregious culprit. My rage at Tugger for sharing the image blurred my thinking but he did everything in his power to fix the situation.

Black Skies was beside itself as we began being mass messaged by a few burner discord accounts. At one point my old Discord account had over 15,000 DMs from these accounts. I deleted. I couldn't continue moving through the day like nothing was wrong and my members being besieged by hate for actions that didn't concern them.

But people knew I still had value and was able to help the community. People like Chad and Lysander still asked me for help with checking out multi rings that I could easily do with a program that was made for Lord of the Rings Online. When Uriah the Fox and Killzbob decided to gut Black Skies (then Thunderstruck) and merge them into The Elites a plea was made to return to the game. So The Coven was born.

United Purple Nations took The Coven in and once again, I as a single person, brought The Coven into a Top 30 position. Using our alliance to punish smaller alliances that held anti-Semitic beliefs, abused members or sexually harassed them, The Coven with Lysander and Vexynn grew into the "Micro-Manager" that we wanted to be. Cordonia, Titan and Laser Kiwi took the reins and helped the alliance to dominate in the lower tiers. Our success as an alliance would of continued no doubt had my identity not been outed. DeeC went to OCN and once again OCN brought my identity into play, a recurring theme that would continue over the next 2 years.

Since then it's been a roller coaster of people joining Black Skies, loving it but then as soon as they leave, bash the alliance for either my leadership or the way we operated. The Fighting Pacifists and House Stark would be our only two allies that appreciated what we offered without being hung up over the name of it's leader. Under Damien I was praised by the game, the name "Alan" though brought out the worst in the game.

So what was it all for?

We learned a lot. Black Skies and myself would like to leave with what we learned from the game so that others that come after us don't make the same mistakes we've made:
 

1. Never Help People
   
   When women would call for hours on end complaining about their boyfriend not caring, hang up. If you don't you'll lose allies. Your sympathy and empathy earn you nothing. I'm still sorry Sval and Order of the White Rose.
   When new alliances ask you for a protectorate, decline them. Those prots will backstab you first chance they get and move to a larger alliance. Always help your alliance first. All other alliances not treatied with you are the enemy. Thank you Nokia and The Coal Mines for taking out the trash.
   When people beg you to save an alliance from merging, kill it. The corpse of that alliance will poison the community. Don't give assistance to an alliance that can't assist itself. Thank you Yarr for stepping up against Tiberius and Bank of Orbis.
   
   This game does not care about rule breaking, social abuse or hate speech. Alex wants children to play this game when in reality P&W is rated 18+. If you attempt to help someone you will be crucified for it.
    
2. Accept Your Faults, Even When You Have None
   
   When you're losing a war, take the blame for everything for peace. Nobody cares about the truth. You taking the "High Road" will lead to your members hurting. 
   When you're being accused of something false, protect your members first and your image second. People will slander you out of jealousy or pure spite. Your members will know the truth and they're the only community you need.
   When people fake documents, screenshots or other things about you, give up. Fighting it makes people hate you more and "evidence" is a word this community doesn't use.
   
   Never, ever join a news network. Most of them spread lies to bolster their numbers and popularity. 85% of "news networks" are tabloids.
    
3. There is No Difference Between "IC" and "OOC"
   
   Those that pretend there is are lying to themselves. People will attack your character and will demand to dig into your personal life for their own gain. Sometimes Macros even do it in order to blackmail you for your members. You are putting your life in the hands of the game. Never give the community any information. Age: Old Enough. Country: One with Land.
    
4. Friends Are Just Future Enemies
   
   Friends of today are enemies of tomorrow. People will attempt to get close to you just to backstab you. Don't bring people into Economic Affairs, don't bring on a 2ic (Second in Command) and don't merge with an alliance. The people you bring into those circles will write their "tell alls" which blow the same smoke with no proof. However the community feeds on it because it's "drama".
    
5. You're On Your Own. Help is Future Debt.
   
   If you ever build your alliance stay detached from the game. Don't involve yourself in politics and don't lean into the drama of the game. Stay strong in your beliefs and don't break your word in any situation. Alliances that have kept to themselves like Antarctic Alliance have beaten top alliances. Their community makes them strong.

Don't join the P&W community. Be your own community.

Serving under Alan was nothing more than a privilege that I never deserved. Without him and the teaching hand of Korra I would have quit PnW long ago. But the community built in Black Skies kept me here. We saw each other as a second family. Goofy and fun yet professional all the same. Did we have issues at times? Yes. but what alliance hasn't had issues? You don't get to be a top alliance without going through speed bumps or growing pains. That being said we enjoyed our little slice of the micro world and thrived in it. You will be missed Alan and we hope you come back soon. This game just isn't the same without you.

It’s been a rough road, at times, but ultimately - I think the game’s better for having had folks like you make the efforts you did. The memory of Black Skies, and of your accomplishments, will far outlast the negatives. For certain, I can say that working with you has provided an awareness of the true intentions of a lot of the game. It’s a shame this wasn’t a better environment for what you were looking to do; it should have been.

I've only known you for a few months, but in the many hours we've spent talking in VC you've been very kind and caring to me. You're passionate, and you care deeply for those that trust in you. You spoke many times about how much you care for your alliance, and I can only imagine what it would have been like to have you as a leader. Tell me what actions United Commerce Republic indulged in for which you used your alliance to punish them. You attacked them and extorted them for 300m. UCR is not the only example. You extorted Tempest Order for 750m , and attacked several alliances like EoPG for no reason. 
The Coven held the discord of a micro called Doom Legion hostage and forced a merge upon them. You said you were killing shit micros and making Orbis a better place. In the end , BS got killed instead. Anti semitism and sexual harassment is an excuse used by you to damage the image of your opponents and justify the wars you initiate.

You also have a habit of cherrypicking screenshots from people.

The Coven was my First Alliance ,not only the first but the first one to give me a place and chance to play this game .For I had tried one other but ,they said since I was new they had no room for me .From the very moment I joined I was shown a wonderful and welcoming Family of Players and Comrades in Arms ,I was taken under wing by Kiwi and a few others(Lysander)  and taught the rules and also the in's and out of how to do combat and build my Nation .Damien who was our Leader spoke to us often in game and also personally if we needed extra information about a tactic or a rule about the game ,his discord was always open to all in the Coven Family ,I even invited my GF to play and she unsure of the game joined anyway and found a great place full of wonderful and caring people who showed us nothing but kindness and companionship .All this was from the Top down for it starts from the Top ( Alan ) Your Leadership was on many levels one of the best I have seen in a game ,your vision to always see a way out of a situation *reminded me of Captain Kirk and the Kobayashi Maru test * Even when we were out numbered or even  out gunned ,we never felt like we were in a losing war due to your Leadership they way you would lead during times of War was spectacular and honestly keep us all afloat. You Sir made this game for Myself and I can speak for my GF on this one matter a Great Game we have come to enjoy and Love playing ,You will never be missed for you will always remain in our thoughts with smiles and laughter that Friends have thru Bonding over a mutual endeavor You were always fair and open to your Alliance members and we were always given a  informed choice . I hope you  know who your Friends are and those who will always stick by your side .Set sail My Captain and let the seas know that the Black Skies rule the Oceans of Orbs and where ever the Black Skies Flag flies your Foes will know Fear because you have something none other has nor will they ever have ,You have Family and Family is forever

This has been misconstrued.

I warned people to change their IPs and to cease registering fake accounts on a website I own and run.  If you go to a 3rd party site to harass someone have the smarts to:

1) Not use your own email.
2) Don't use your real birthday
3) Don't allow your IP to be tracked because you're on mobile.

A handful of people wanted to troll me and I now have some of their IP address that makes me the bad guy? They could of even deleted the accounts! Instead they decided to continue.

I concur entirely with Brofam leadership. @Alanthe reason you get so much “hate” as you like to put it is because you are a self indulged drama Queen. You literally went through puberty on discord and live on this game. You are extremely emotional more so then any woman I have ever been married too. You lie, you make up stories, you accuse anyone who even holds a different opinion then you of being against whatever the issue is based soley on them having a negative opinion of you which simply is not true. 

 

You are the only one who talks about BoO. Who got robbed? Nobody lost a dollar. Nobody got hurt. Daxxus has been back in the game and in Rome for over 6 months at this point. He wasn’t robbed, nobody was robbed. Here are the simple facts. The reason people got mad with me related to BoO was because if you robbed from us I hunted the debtors down. It didn’t matter where you were at or what your alliance gov thought about your actions. If you stole from BoO shareholders and account holders you got cut down period.

Welp, this is it. Alan gives up. 

While I can’t speak on the previous iteration of Black Skies, I have a few things to say about the modern one. I did, after all, go from being a member of The Coven, to a supporter from a different sphere to a critic. And from my point of view, Alan is just as much to blame for his own drama and shortcomings as the people making fun of him for it. It takes 2 to tango and boy does Alan seem to love the dance. 

When I joined the Coven, and after I left it, I did firmly believe that it was a good thing to punish those garbage micros, take out the trash as Alan said, and I still do. I believe that micros who bring people in and fail to teach them the game and as such give them a warped perception of it, often spouting “macro bad, micro good”, are bad for the game and should be rolled harshly, especially if they do predatory things to members and are led by shit people. But by the end of Black Skies’ lifespan, it had become no better than those very micros it was punishing. A constant repetition of a cycle of drama, breakdowns and seething which only harmed its own members. 

None of the people rolling the Black Skies by the end had anything to do with Alan’s past identity, while I can’t comment on whatever harassment may have gone on in RON or DMs as I refuse to actively check the chats there let alone see Alan's DMs, in OCN and his own server, The Micro Minute, there was little to no drama. The most that had arose was a reporter putting up a poll by someone about rolling Black Skies which shouldn’t have been put up or someone else finding Alan’s Twitch, which by the way is or maybe was by now publicly on his discord profile, and making a meme image out of it which Alan only encouraged with his responce. The sole burden of Black Skies’ failure was on Alan’s refusal to stop getting into drama at every corner, not his identity being revealed as being Alan instead of Damien. Regardless of if it was revealed or if The Coven never rebranded, the result would be the very same. I would love to see any sort of point to prove this wrong, but it was never provided in the post nor had I seen anyone rolling Black Skies for what it did during its previous iteration.

Instead, Alan has proved himself no better than the gaslighters he accuses others to be, outright cherry picking evidence and admitting to it and making fun of people for their OOC illnesses driving them out of the game, I have never in my 3 years of this game seen so much drama around a single leader in his alliance. How can all these other leaders seemingly keep their noses clean while Alan gets into a new war every other month, hell, week? It seems Alan would much rather make death threats to people who join streamer’s servers and accuse every other alliance of participating in real life crime and degeneracy than admit his own faults.

Even within his own alliance, which he seems to focus on being the one good he had, the entire Wall of Text written by Palsada about Alan’s leadership involving large amounts of harassment remains unanswered. I would speak more on this but I really think Palsada has said enough.

Now, I have no responsibility to write this. Hell, in fact it’s probably not a good idea for me to write this being an FA staffer for the $yndiate meaning I probably shouldn’t be arguing with alliance or even former alliance leaders on public forums over my personal opinions, but this is just sad to see. I want Alan to do better, I liked the “micro manager” role the Coven took, but despite that, Alan still uses moderation as a weapon to punish anyone even remotely ok with people who don’t like him handing out 85 permanent moderation points on a whim, along with people who still support Alan being unable to argue against screenshot evidence of Alan cherry picking messages and making fun of illnesses. The true Alanfall was the friends we made along the way, Alan’s own inability to turn a page and move past drama, committing himself to be the victim in every situation.

It's sad that, like Palsada's Wall of Text, none of the critiques of Alan here are likely to ever get a genuine response.

You have continuously tried to slander people even after the situations have been resolved. He also drove out a player called Enki  from the game as he was laughed at his illness by Alan.

You merged with PRIU and treated Palsada like shit. Why don't you answer this WoT if you are truly right? You can never come up with a response.  

You wished to manage other micros and control them. You don't get to drag people in dirt and then not expect them to get back at you.

 The death of Black Skies was totally the result of your own shortcomings and failures. Your diplomacy was full of ego and cherrypicking screenshots and you got constantly rolled. The situation of BS finally got so worse that you all had to disband with no other choice than merge. Black Skies/The Coven absolutely got what it deserved. I wish you good luck irl.

well..I've never known you personally, nor really liked all the drama, i preferred to stay out of it, which can be said the same for my alliance, but i always liked the perseverance you showed leading your alliance, getting pushed and shoved around but continuing on as if it wasn't nothing bad. We're all human, and as such, we need breaks, make yours as long as it needs to be.
