I believe they didn't detect the buildup and therefore were caught off guard, and so Midgard is leading everywhere by a much more significant margin than most globals start off with already. That being said, ignoring militarization, it probably would've been tough for TKRsphere anyways given the tiering; Midgard has a butt ton more nations that probably would've had very little issue updeclaring where needed. As it currently stands, this can only go one way, although we'll see if TKR can militarize and close the gap, however little. Cata enters and starts focusing Aurora despite being generally unmilitarized. Regardless, they provide a much-needed upper middle tier numbers boost to TKRsphere, increasing Midgard's C31-35 numbers disadvantage and shifting the C36-40 numbers slight advantage to a disadvantage. Regardless, Midgard still hold an average militarization higher than TKRsphere + Cata's in most every tier, so it'll be a close one. If Midgard wants to win this, they will have to learn from their mistakes in GnR, take advantage of their increased ground units, possibly draw a city line of survival, and bring everyone online and participating in the war to their maximum. If TKRsphere + Cata want to win this, they will have to use their higher tiering to batter Midgard's airplanes and hope that will be enough to overcome a ground advantange (and of course, they'll have to get everyone militarizing and participating, too). I will note, by the way, that Midgard were already making reasonable progress, even in some of the upper tiers, before Eclipse decided to step in. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. Don't make me add more alliances to the tiering chart please.
