  2. lol, sorry about this. I got a lot of DMs asking me if I'm alright. I'm okay. PnW and other hobbies have been taking up a majority of my time, causing me to neglect some other important areas of my life. I set my VM to a month now, time that I'll use to tend to the things needed. I think this break will be good for me, sorry for doing it so suddenly though. Anyway, raiding y'all later.

  8. When he was but a wee child of 7 years old, Smoth traveled to the faraway land of Switzerland. Holding his mother’s hand, the little excitable boy skipped up and down the airport, munching on his favourite chocolate: Hershey’s. Upon seeing the big, silver letters emblazoned on a brown background, passersby gawked and pointed, saying “Look, look! Look what that little boy is eating! Does he not know what he does?” And indeed, Smith had no idea. His mother, however, kind and wise, knew that she would have to protect her child from the discriminatory Swiss. Rushing towards the nearest chocolate stand (of which there were many, for the Swiss loved their name and their chocolate the rich bastards), she grabbed the first Swiss chocolate she saw, and shoved it in Smith’s hands, ripping the Hershey’s bar from his hands and throwing it in the bin. Now, Smith was a reasonable child but in him was born the rebellious fire of the American Hershey’s Lad; a courageous spirit destined to overthrow the Swiss Chocolate Hegemons. He had thought of many ways to prevent eating the tasty wonderful ohsogood Swiss chocolate, but upon his mother’s insistence, he acquiesced and bit into the bar hesitantly. Smith’s mouth exploded with flavour unlike anything he had eaten. Alas, after he and his mother departed from the airport, he never got to taste the Swiss delicacy again. On that dark, terrible day, Smith vowed he would never ever eat Swiss chocolate again, for it had given him a taste of paradise and yet robbed him of his freedom. He would put it down wherever he went, and would counsel all his friends to do the same. Now Smith wanders the lands preaching the benefits of Hershey’s and spins woeful tales of the boy who went mad on his trip to Switzerland. In his dreams, he still tastes the glorious Swiss product. For this reason we announce the existence of Chocolate Castle, to bring the taste of good chocolate to Smith once more. We are a small alliance with the simple goal of creating a nice community and to play the game with our friends ^.^ It will be a welcoming place for those who just like to chat a bit and have a good time. 9. In a time of peace and prosperity, there existed in the vast forests of Camelot a Dryad. That Dryad was not like other Dryads, for she wanted to become rich. When the infamous Global War 14 started, the Dryad saw an opportunity to make a name for itself. Never one to pass up an opportunity, she gathered a group of renegades and cutthroats to sail the seven seas with. The Dryad went from ship to ship, leaving nothing but death and destruction in it's wake. Many kings tried to stop the Dryad, but none were successful. Their weapons were useless against the Dryad and it's crew, for they possessed the most powerful weapon of all. Immortality. Eventually, the seas ran dry of loot, so the Dryad took to the ground. She was no longer a pirate. She became a raider. So she raided, pillaged and plundered. Her name was known and feared by all. None dared to look the Dryad or it's crew in the eye. The loot they gathered was sufficient to make them all kings and queens, but no. They lusted for more gold. More blood. More glory; so they raided, pillaged and plundered some more. But one day, the Dryad noticed something. She had looted from every nation on earth, but there was one place she did not yet conquer. That is the land of the Vacation Mode. Determined to bring the whole world to it's knees, the Dryad prepared for what will prove to be her greatest challenge yet. Conquer the land of the Vacation Mode. It was a suicide mission, that much was certain; but the mad Dryad did not fear death, for she was deathless. "Take us with you!" said her first mate. "No" answered the Dryad. "I have to do this on my own". And just like that, she dissappeared into the land of the Vacation Mode, never to be seen or heard of again. Legend says that one day, the Dryad will return from the land of Vacation Mode to terrorize the land, skies and seas once again. When that day arrives, none will be safe. RIP DRYAD 2019 - 2020

  12. Calm down m8, raws have been and pretty much always will be more expensive than the refined resources for the simple reason that they refine into far more units of resources than one actually puts in. As in, you usually get about 3 units output per input. So, if raws were three times as expensive as manufactured goods, then that would indicate a problem... one that wouldn't persist for long, since people would start producing raws. There's nothing at all wrong here, but thank you for your convincing argument as to why downvotes should be reimplemented

  20. I have no qualms with just removing alliance bank looting altogether. In my opinion, it's a mostly avoided mechanic anyway through "offshore" alliance banks, and therefore removing it would remove the clutter and confusion of additional 1-man alliances being created and recreated constantly.

  21. Greetings shareholders, business partners, customers, and friends. As many of you may know, we in Silenzio have been strongly considering leaving PW for some time now. Indeed, the only reason we've stayed so long was the existence of Moonlight bank, and our duty to those who had invested their money and trust into us. Sadly, over the 9 months Moonlight has existed, 7 of those were during a catastrophically destructive war. But now peace is coming, and Moonlight Bank has found a new Director. @Gobi will be taking control of the bank henceforth, in possession of all shares that were owned by any Silenzio member; of all powers that Strum, Joel, and I wielded; and of all debts formerly payable to us. Gobi and I have been discussing this move for quite some time, and he has my full confidence in his ability to maintain Moonlight's tradition of transparency and innovation. I hope you all enjoy working with him as much as I have during this period. Speaking personally, it has been my pleasure to serve the community, even for so limited a time as I was given, and I wish you all the best. May your futures be prosperous!

  22. Hello everyone, This suggestion is inspired by the madness that is "offshore banks" and other gimmicks to avoid alliance bank looting. Alliance banks are obviously a very useful tool that we want to include in the game, but we also don't want to end raiding/looting by making their contents invulnerable. That was the inspiration behind the alliance bank looting mechanic (which doesn't often matter due to offshores, etc.) In the status quo, we have banks like this https://politicsandwar.com/alliance/id=6045 with 0.00 score that are invulernable to raiding. I believe something needs to change so that we're not incentivizing this behavior in the game. My proposal is twofold: first, we remove the alliance bank looting mechanic. Alliance banks would be invulnerable to being looted. Therefore, no one would need to make these "offshores." It would simplify alliance mechanics a great deal, and end all sorts of weird moderation issues and gimmicks that players would agree with me are unfair or against the spirit of the game. Of course, we don't want to end raiding/looting. Therefore, as the second part of the suggestion, I am proposing a cap on alliance bank contents. This cap would be based on the number of cities in the alliance so as not to incentivize people to again make "offshores" to get around the bank limits. This restriction on total bank contents will require alliances to store more of their money/resources in their nations, such that they are still vulnerable to looting. To come up with an idea for proposed caps, I pulled the alliance bank contents of all alliances with 40 or more members and compared it to the total number of cities of their members. I came up with a multiplier for each alliance (Cities * X = Bank Contents) and then using all of the calculated multipliers for each alliance, took the 75th percentile to be on the higher end. Then I did some small amounts of rounding to make for nice, pretty numbers. These calculated figures would set an alliance bank contents cap for each resource: Money: Cities * 400,000 Coal/Oil/Uranium: Cities * 15 Bauxite/Iron/Lead: Cities * 10 Steel/Aluminum/Gasoline/Munitions: Cities * 100 Food: Cities * 400 Total cities calculated would not include Vacation Mode nations, or Gray nations. Per feedback, I agree these original proposed caps are way too low (they didn't factor in the offshore-stashed bank contents.) My intent is not to cap banks so low that they're unusable, but to find a reasonable balance between alliance bank/nation storage that doesn't eliminate the viability of raiding through removing alliance bank looting. You can also see data from the last 10,000 bank loots here - on average, they're very little anyway. Removing bank looting isn't going to change much, most banks are de-facto unlootable anyway. Another benefit of having caps on alliance banks is that it should make war cycles more regular. Commonly, alliances wait to stockpile resources before going to war. Limits on stockpiles will essentially set a cap on how long alliances should wait before going to war. Also, basing resource caps on number of cities should make it more-or-less fair for all types of alliances, from high-city alliances with low members to low-city alliances with lots of members. Let me know what you think, and of course the actual caps could be tweaked. But I think the concept behind this suggestion is good, and will improve gameplay and make things a bit more sensible. EDIT: Another note: I'm just looking for feedback here, and perhaps tweaking of numbers. I'd like to run a long-term (2 month?) tournament on the test server with alliance banks enabled, looting disabled, and the caps in place before pushing a change like this to the live server.
