I just finished reading Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett and plan on reading either Stardust or The Ocean at the End of the Lane next.

I was going to say since my Ex likes Terry Pratchett I had to hate Terry Pratchett, then I saw a picture of the man and realized he was the coolest looking person I had ever seen.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a roll.

There is one you will follow. One who is the shining star, and he will lead you to beautiful places in the search of his own vanity. And when there is no more vanity to be found, he will leave you in darkness, as a fading memory of his own creation.

It certainly seems like he's spent the last two years learning about historic steam engines. And it is awesome that the author of 41 of my favorite books has both the time and mental facalties to spend researching awesome trains. Especially since he has a serious case of alzheimer's. You should certainly read some of his books if only to spite your ex.

Currently re-reading  Debt of Honor  by my man, Tom Clancy.  I read through the entire Jack Ryan series every year.  I'm just a sucker for Conservative Propogandist 'Murica porn.  I guess reading about fake Mohammedans getting blowed up real good never gets old.

All Hail Lardbelly!  Lord of Digestion!  Conqueror of Quesadillas!  Ruler of Rotissierie!  Potentate of Pizza!  Future Irresponsible Wielder of Thermonuclear Weapons!

Bring me your finest meats and cheeses or be nuked into so much radioactive grit!  You have been warned.....

It's Halloween, so I'm in the middle of reading The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty.

"They're turning kids into slaves just to make cheaper sneakers.

But what's the real cost? ‘Cause the sneakers don't seem that much cheaper.

Why are we still paying so much for sneakers when you got them made by little slave kids?

What are your overheads?"

i just picked up "Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty" by Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson. I'm hoping it's an interesting read.

I'm always reading Marcus Aurelius' Meditations. I read and re-read that one, full of tremendous knowledge and wisdom.

"We must become bigger than we have been: more courageous, greater in spirit, larger in outlook. We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations but to our fellow men within the human community."
