Approval rating should be made to mean something or be removed from the game. Not that it is taking up a lot of pixels of screen space, but why provide meaningless data? As my preference would be that it actually mean something, I suggest the following: There should be consequences for very low approval ratings and benefits to having very high ones. Currently approval rating is a scale is 0 - 100% percent. Rather than being a percentage of the population that likes you, the approval rating should represent a score and be open ended in both directions. As your approval rating approaches zero, there would be a negative effect on your nation. Tax revenues would be lower (people are more likely to dodge out of paying taxes), upkeep would be more expensive and production curtailed (good workers willing to earn their pay are harder to find), and military units would be more expensive to recruit (no one wants to die for an a-hole). The effect would increase the further you go below zero until finally around -1000 approval rating your nation is essentially stagnant. Conversely, as approval ratings approach 100, there would be a positive effect on your nation. Tax revenues would be up a small amount, upkeep would be cheaper, production higher, and military units would be cheaper. For those saying "what about North Korea? It's a brutal dictatorship!" Be aware that "Rocket Man" actually has a high approval rating from his citizens. Nothing about this proposal would affect that part of the role play aspects of the game. There are mechanisms in game already that adjust the approval rating based upon a variety of criteria. Why not take things to their logical conclusion?

This is a very unfortunate thread. The OP is fairly OOC insulting to a number of Acadia members, some of whom had relatives who fought against the Nazis in World War II, at least one of whom had family members die in the Holocaust. Kosmo, get help. Seriously. For everyone else, Acadia doesn't make rash decisions when it comes to our foreign policy or when it comes to the adding or dropping of protectorates. Our reasons for dropping SIR were communicated to them privately, and were well considered, unlike the creation of this thread.

We've gotten to know Solidarity of Dragons over the past month or so and have been very impressed. While a young alliance, they certainly are a rising star on Orbis and we're very happy to have them as a friend and ally.

The North American Confederacy AA will continue to exist for a time as people transfer over to Acadia. As mentioned, it will be well protected. Go raid GPA (again) or watch some sports or something. It was my distinct privilege to lead NAC. Through victory, through defeat, through good times and hardship. From an alliance that started off as a VE protectorate with a serious flag problem to a respected alliance, we never broke, we never faltered. I look forward to bringing the pride, honor and tradition that characterized NAC to new alliance and helping to lead it to a bright future. I know that my former DEIC colleagues feel the same.

Laughed at, deliberately given horrible advise, mocked, and worse at times. We should be encouraging their participation. After all, don't some of the more infamous the "veteran players" provide enough comic gold to satisfy us all?

If some alliances are at all concerned about new players as they claim they are, then they would demand an end to all raiding of nations less than 30 days old, would offer free food to nations in need during times of high radiation, and would use teachable moments for new players as teachable moments and not as opportunities to snicker and troll. The first one will never happen. The third one will never happen without a major culture change which is unlikely. The second one though would only require a neutral alliance that can be trusted to collect and hold a few million in donated Food and then distribute it to small nations in need regardless of their affiliation (think international aid agency). Work on that. I'd support it.
