  1. The way I see it, when an alliance sends counters to defend their protectorate they are making the offensive action. So in this case I see it as "Camelot took offensive action in defense of their protectorate". So if you respond to offensive action by meeting the attackers directly you are taking defensive action, no?

  3. I have spent my entire day thus far reading this thread, and I have gained two valuable pieces of knowledge: half the people in this thread are idiots, and I have wasted my day.
  4. Large indeed. But I have no doubt that t$'s profit margins will grow ever larger, and that your stock price will soar under the leadership of Hilmes. Good luck for 2019 dudes.
  5. Further to the point it's just plain bad decision-making to protect an alliance that can't offer anything in return. I get the impression that a lot of treaties get signed without having a functional purpose in mind and it's just the FA head or the alliance leader wanting to propogate the idea that they're working hard doing FA things. As a general rule I think protectorate treaties are often deeply misunderstood. At their most basic a protectorate treaty is just a one-sided defense agreement, yet so many players simply look at the number of green lines on the treary web as a representation of "power projection" or "proactive FA", when in fact they're black holes that suck resources away from the protector and typically return nothing of value. Barring any exceptional arrangements like payment, vassilization or the like, the protector gets no immediate benefit, economic or military, from protecting an alliance. Because of this, there's usually some understanding (often likely never elaborated at the outset of the agreement) that the protectorate will reciprocate the favour at a later date once they become stronger. For players thinking in 2015-16 terms, this might seem smart, as BK and TKR started out as t$ protectorates and went on to help prop up a bona fide Syndicate-led hegemony for years. But more recently we've seen alliances such as the original TEst splinters, Dark Brotherhood, Bad Company, and doubtless many others I'm forgetting all split with their protectors and return nothing of value to them. The historical record should be evidence enough for the great powers of Orbis to question the validity of the assumption that protecting a new alliance will make them loyal to you. So my overall point is that if the protector isn't extracting any explicit commitments from the protectorate to provide something of value, like a future mutual defense agreement or short-term payment, then the FA team of the protector is doing their own members a disservice. After all, if someone decides to raid the pro then its the members who are responsible for actually carrying out the protecting, not necessarily the FA guys who want to look busy.
  6. It is frankly insulting that anyone would even celebrate such an event as "Christmas". It's clear that the ILLUMINATI CONTROLLED MASS MEDIA have been propogating this thing they call a "holiday" to drain power from the people of Earth to feed the insatiable hunger of the TIME GOD CHRONOS, and the powerful wizard families like the Clintons and the Bushes are using it to offer sacrificies to Chronos in hopes that they will be spared when the rapture arrives.
  7. The Orbis United Nations will never work because nobody wants peace, and an organisation to set up wars is just as boring. ANARCHY FOR ALL!
  8. Congrats and good luck INH! Do papa Khorne proud.
  9. WTF don't care about forums cause they're all either drunk or hungover at all hours of the day, guys know how to roll ?
  10. Don't let this post distract you from the fact that in February 2018, 27 members of Terminal Jest declared war on IQ, and dealt $42.96 billion damage, whilst only taking $19.26 billion in damage.
  11. If anyone's interested in listening to recordings of the show then see the link below. To skip the quiz go to 45:10. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iYcGk_5d90nZHlphpNo-uoG46E2Oy7BZ?usp=sharing Just want to extend a HUUUUUUUGE thank you to everyone who has taken the time to talk with us about obscure nation sim history over the past few weeks and put up with all the annoying questions. Special thanks goes to Adama, Pubstomper, Keegoz, Abbas, Jroc, Belisarius and Kurdanak. Also to everyone who has talked about history stuff with me personally over the past few years, especially Manthrax, Lilac and Saxplayer, thank you as well. We've been able to produce some solid written history on the early stuff thanks to your input, maybe it will be shared outside of Rose once we make some improvements and adapt it from the Rose History Week format into a more general format. To everyone who spoke on the show, thank you for taking the time, all of you gave some great input. Stay tuned for a potential follow-up show, either tomorrow night or the night after. We still haven't covered Redarmy and Dynamic. PS my internet cut out for 20 minutes whilst recording the show, so the bit where Sketchy chats shit about the VE coup is missing.

  16. 1. Throughout our celebration the ROSE HISTORY WEEK COMMITTEE have used both 'War of Purple Aggression' and 'War of Debateable Aggression' interchangably with the intent of pissing off both former TAC people and former EoS people. 2. The write-up of this period reads as follows: "At the height of their power in October 2014, TAC was attacked by the Empire of Spades (EoS), kicking off the War of Purple Aggression (AKA ‘War of Debatable Aggression’). When TAC successfully met the blitz with heavy counters of their own, EoS called in United Purple Nations (UPN) and the Dutch East India Company (DEIC or VOC, currently known as Acadia). War statistics for this period are not recorded, but in summary: the #1 alliance in the game was hit by the #2, #3 and #5 alliances, and the two sides were roughly equal in power. This conflict ended with a white peace, and minor concessions from TAC (such as moving off Purple), but left TAC severely weakened and vulnerable." 3. I have talked about this stuff with you quite a bit in the past and believe it or not I was paying attention 4. I never implied the ROSE HISTORY WEEK COMMITTEE won't be revisionists now did I? ?
  17. Good suggestion, it's low risk and low reward - it won't require everyone to completely rethink their econ, but will marginally influence the decision makers in top alliances because of the opportunity cost of not fighting. Longer you go without fighting the more resources you squander to deterioration ?
  18. It's called 'Sadness and Sorrow', and it's from Naruto. Pre's a weeb confirmed.
