The score difference at the start of the war was like 9,000 so saying this is a completely unfair battle is a bit of an overstatement its actually 2 close alliances in score fighting it out

Except TKR NPO was one of the first ones before NPO signed all their enemies if memory serves me correct

Vacation Mode is not a tool to use to avoid wars, and it is not a "peace mode" According to rules but not enforced
