  2. Shwin lay fast asleep, resting from the battle of the night before and the many celebratory hours which had followed. The smell of eggs with a healthy portion of butter and sage wafted through the air. Shwin’s nose twitched, his eyes fluttering open at the unmistakable scent of Erik’s signature grilled bacon. He looked around the room, his fellow Peacekeepers also beginning to stir from their slumber. The meaty, greasy, charcoal-infused scent was suddenly punctuated by a scream from the edge of town. Shwin leapt to his feet, running out the inn’s door with a deep dread. He was met by quite a sight to behold: a white-haired, broad-chested figure, a silver medallion strapped to his neck and the head of a ghoul slung over one shoulder. And he heard from somewhere nearby as an unkempt, sleepy-eyed bard began to sing… ♫ Toss a coin to your Witcher, Oh, Valley of Pacifists, Oh, Valley of Pacifists, oh Toss a coin to your Witcher ♫ Article I. Both parties are obligated to come to the other’s aid if attacked. Article II. Both parties may optionally join the other in offensive ventures. Article III. Both parties agree to share relevant information with the other. Article IV. Both parties recognize Article I as non-chaining. Article V. Both parties have the option to cancel the Accords, but must provide a 73 hour notice of cancellation prior to the treaty being considered void. 3. Computer Log - Date: 2024-02-18 Time: 14:27:48 System Status: Nominal Initiating system scan revealed an anomalous energy signature originating from an unknown dimension. Subsequent decryption attempts uncovered a complex magical message. The sender identified themselves as members of a group known as The Witcher Order, originating from a dimension with extraordinary magical properties. Database cross-referencing revealed that The Witcher Order corresponds to a group from a series of books known as The Witcher, written by Andrzej Sapkowski. Which raises the question about whether The Witcher series is fiction or not. But intrigued and cautious, communication channels were established. Their representatives expressed a peaceful intent and a desire to establish diplomatic relations with our dimension. Negotiations ensued, and after thorough discussion, both parties agreed to sign a treaty with the following terms: Article I. Interdimensional Defense. Both parties are obligated to defend each other from all threats dimensional and interdimensional. Article II. Interdimensional Offense. Both parties have the option to combine their technological and magical superiority to overcome any threat. Article III. Dimensional Borders. Both parties agree to respect each other’s dimensional sovereignty and won’t interfere with them. Article IV. Knowledge Swapping. Not only do both parties agree to share knowledge regarding technological advances and the arcane arts. But both parties also agree to share relevant information to each other. Article V. Interdimensional Allies. Both parties recognize that article I is a non-chaining agreement and are not obligated to defend allies of the other party. Article VI. Closing Protocol. Both parties have the option to close the gateway between dimensions, but must provide a 72 hour notice and let it run out before the treaty is considered void. This unprecedented alliance opens new avenues for knowledge and collaboration between our worlds. Ongoing communication will be maintained, fostering a bridge between the technological advancements of our dimension and the mystical expertise of The Witcher Order. The signing of the treaty marks a historic milestone in the interdimensional relations, promising a future of shared wisdom and mutual support. 11. This is not a good idea. Land is the only current possible permanent investment that allows nations to build tall, rather than wide. The game needs more mechanics like this, not less, to open up more avenues of choice in investment, and to give people options other than "buy more city". I understand conceptually that stealing land makes sense, but nothing in this game makes sense if you think much about it from a realism standpoint, and gameplay balance should be prioritized over realism.

  12. I'll give you the downvote you ask for. Not necessarily because I think a way to destroy land is a bad idea, but because you don't give a proper argument for why your idea would improve the game, but instead just write that "it would be cool". Argue why your suggestion will improve the game. What issue is it addressing? What part of the game play is it improving?

  13. The main bulk of my complaint about the name was “the name change (of The Forgotten Realms (TFR)) is kinda cringe”. Most of that was me pointing out why I thought the name change was cringe for this, or did you not understand that when you read it?

  18. Probably going to get all the downvotes here but land shouldn't be immutable. It would be cool to either be able to steal land from your opponents or have it decay over time, needing replacement and therefore repayment. That's the whole idea, give me all your downvotes fellow whales, but look at your income and tell me that it's not 60-80% from producing food.

  19. Maybe if it was like, 1-5% less military per city, that might accomplish what you want. This is suggestion however..is …silly. You are removing the entire economic incentive of the game. The ROI on cities past 30 is basically non-existent. The only reason to buy more cities past city 30 is for military purposes. Completely eliminating the military gains from cities above 30, completely eliminates any incentive to buy cities past 30. Because what use is more money, if you have nothing to spend it on, because new cities only give you more money. It completely destroys the entire gameplay loop. You might as well just set everyone to c30 and give them all unlimited resources, that's basically what you are proposing with this change.

  20. Land has almost no impact on the game at all and is just a large investment for food producing nations. "Capturing Land" would just make wars more punishing and expensive. Really all your proposals are just to stunt growth or weaken older players who have literally spent years building their nations; why should some 6 month old scrub be able to equally compete? Newer players have many tools to build up their cities at the fastest rate I have ever seen, they can use them rather than the game being more tedious for others. If capturing land or land decay are implemented then I just don't buy land anymore other than what is most efficient, if infrastructure is far to expensive to replace I don't fight wars or I don't buy too much infra. Less money, less reason to check on growth, even slower game. If a solution to peoples slow growth is to make projects cheaper then that is fine with me, imho projects pricing are all over the place. ie. Gas Reserve

  22. stealing land: No one would fight wars unless it's an absolute dogpile. And whoever wins the most wars will grow the most, thus making it much harder for the loser to keep up with the winner growth wise. decay overtime: This might be interesting to see depending on how it's implemented.

  23. Before I start, yes, this just an example of how the changes would work. But the reason you buy cities is for military reasons because the ROI on cities increases the most exponentially meaning they're worthless for economic reasons. If this change were to be implemented, it would ruin the purpose of buying cities past city 30 since you're essentially throwing money away for essentially nothing. The meta will end up changing to where everyone buys up to c30 and stay there. This essentially kills the late game for most of the upper tier nations. Only thing you could do to grow your nation is buy land and make more food. This will end up crashing the food market since everyone will be making food and force a lot of nations to switch to other resources. The other problem would be is that land increases exponentially as well, meaning there will be a point where even land is useless to buy especially if food is not worth making in this hypothetical scenario. While that may be the case for now. Do consider that there have been efforts to speed up the growth process for newer nations. And that some of those efforts are finally seeing fruition. We have Activity center to help new players grow. You can jump straight to city 20 at any given moment as a new player. We'll soon see a massive price cut for UP, AUP, and MP. It is becoming easier for new players to catch up with the rest of the game than it was 3 years ago when I started playing. Once the project update hits the main server, I bet that any player being trained by a decent alliance can catch up to where the mid tier is now. And I hope more changes will be put into effect so we can see people go from c1 to c30 in the span of a year no matter their alliance.

  24. "To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal." - A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ~~~ Dear Friends and Enemies of Orbis, I’m writing to you all today with some important news. Our devoted king, Canbec, has decided to retire. I’m sure this news has not already been circulating all last night and today and will come as a complete and total shock to all. Whether you love him a lot or only a little, Canbec has been an incredible part of both our alliance and Orbis. He’s served The Knights Radiant with great love and devotion since July 2021, when he joined gov as a High Prince of War and began moving up through the ranks. He’s led the alliance since January 2023 and has done an amazing job. He saw us through five wars, two blocs, and one very successful merger. He helped raise two protectorates to allies. He served on the development team. And, arguably most impressive of all, he achieved what many thought was impossible: convincing TKR to move from Slack to Discord. Canbec, you’ve been an amazing leader for the last year and an even more amazing friend for the last three, and I’m grateful you’ll be sticking around as a Shard. Thank you for everything you’ve done for TKR and thank you for the trust you’ve put in me and in Ben to continue moving TKR forward. You’ve left us some big shoes to fill, and I hope we’ll do you justice. I also want to thank our allies, Grumpy Old Bastards, The Immortals, The Forgotten Realms, and Space Engineers, for supporting us during this transition. I look forward to working more with you in the coming months. Lastly, thank you to our members for believing in us and trusting us to serve you. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together. All the best, Adrienne, Queen of the Heralds ~~~ Dear Frenemies Orbis Wide: You can’t get rid of me forever! It is a sad occasion with Canbec’s retirement. Our game and community are better for all that Canbec has achieved and we appreciate everything he poured into it. Thanks for bringing us into the 21st century on Discord, designing some beautiful war badges, and seeming to answer DMs at all hours. You should be proud of all that you accomplished in milcom, growth in econ, implementing new tech, and making us some wonderful new friends in FA. Enjoy the best role in the game: retired former leader, advisor, and shard. You’ve earned your rest. Looking forward to your nitpicking of our future decisions! I’ll Leave the Rocking Chair Warm for Ya, Benfro, Prince of the Heralds ~~~ tl;dr:

  32. Two alliances, both alike in dignity, (In fair Orbis, where we lay our scene), From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes. A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life; Whose misadventured piteous overthrows Doth with their death bury their leaders' strife. The fearful passage of their death-marked love, And the continuance of their leaders' rage, Which, but their members end, nought could remove, Is now the two hours' traffic of our stage; The which if you with patient ears attend, What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.
