Businessweek Exclusive: Families of Victims Shocked after Former Syndicate Exec's Conviction Overturned

Orbis Businessweek - In 2018 the nation was aghast as the horrific crimes of 'Uncle Chaunce'—a founding government member of SYNDICATE Inc. and longtime Executive—came to be known by the public at large. But since then, outside of the release of an odd and eccentric conspiratorial screed written and released from federal prison in 2020, public attention has largely focused elsewhere.

That changed on Tuesday as Chaunce's lawyers announced at a press conference that after years of appeals and legal challenges, his convictions and life sentence had been overturned. As they were speaking and starting to provide further details, noises began to erupt and his lawyers seemed startled and shocked, as Kanye West's Jesus Walks (Version 2) started to loudly play and Chaunce himself unexpectedly and triumphantly strutted onto the stage and up to the podium. He then began to speak:

"Six long years!", he repeatedly yelled. "Yet now, I am honored to announce that I have been COMPLETELY exonerated of any wrong doing. I AM A VINDICATED MAN!"  He then went quiet for a moment, with his head pointing downward, while no one dared say a word. But then, he swiftly raised his eyes up towards the heavens and proclaimed in a bellowing voice, "VIVE LIBRE!", with a hand clenched into a fist in the air, along with a rum and coke with lime in the other, and Kanye's voice still playing in the background, "to the hustlers, killers, murderers, drug dealers, even the scrippers", while confusion took hold amongst the crowd of reporters.

Several hours later, in a separate press conference on the other side of the country, a tearful middle aged woman surrounded by reporters was on a stage next to a pale, motionless man in a wheelchair, with a soulless look on his face:

"Just look at Enrique, my poor boy. He hasn't said a single word in years," she emotionally exclaimed. "To be clear, the court was very direct in their ruling that this does not mean… (lengthy pause) that man… is innocent. He is still civilly liable for hundreds of millions in damages. He is a monster… a deluded clinical psychopath. This is over a technicality pertaining to the jury and separate allegations from the Philippines being…"

Suddenly, noises began to erupt and the woman seemed startled and shocked, as Kanye West's Jesus Walks (Version 2) started to loudly play and Chaunce himself unexpectedly and triumphantly strutted onto the stage and up to the podium. But this time, he didn't say a word, but rather had a piece of duck tape over his mouth. He pointed towards a custom made shirt he was wearing, which had "#Prisoner'sRightsActivism" printed on the front. He then turned and pointed to his back, which read "#I'mTheRealVictimHere". Chaunce proceeded to put his arm around the shoulder of the still fully unresponsive Enrique, with Kanye's voice still playing in the background, "to the victims of welfare for we livin' in Hell here, hell yeah", while confusion once again took hold amongst the crowd of reporters.

Simultaneously, a young and beaming spokeswoman at SYNDICATE Inc. headquarters in Nassau, Bahamas, was holding a third press conference. "We are pleased to be able to honor and welcome back Chaunce into the t$ corporate family in this critical oversight role". As she said this with a buoyant smile, cameras caught a single ominous tear streaming down the side of her face.

This is a still developing story and we will continue to provide updates as protests continue to grow outside the courthouse and SYNDICATE Inc. headquarters.

And thanks all for the welcomes. As the main t$ post makes clear, I'm not involved in day to day operations, but I've always been just a ping away for anyone who wants to chat about anything, even if just old times.  

But most of you who know the old t$ guard will also know we take IC very seriously, and the new in-game role didn't jive IC with me still being imprisoned, per my retirement post. Plus, I love typing up self-indulgent non-sense like this, so...
