Ah... Well, no.  So by way of explanation, here's how it works.

 

 

As soon as you borrow the money, interest for the first period compounds immediately.  This is because if I did not do that, you could borrow a million dollars from me for three days, pay me back, and I would have missed out on a million dollars in three days without anything to show for it.  Four days after you have the money in your hands, and every four days thereafter, payment is due.  The minimum payment is 50% of whatever the interest for THAT PERIOD was.  So at the end of day four, in the chart, 25k is due because the interest was 50k.  If you ever need to know what the minimum payment for a period is, you can just ask me.

 

So if you borrowed money today, 12/8/14 at 12pm EST, your first payment would be due 12/12/14 by 12pm EST.  For the sake of contextualization, interest would compound at 12/12/14 at 12:01 pm EST.  If you do not meet your minimum payments, there are penalties associated that are outlined.  Namely, your interest rate increases by .5% before anything else happens.  Then you accrue interest normally at the new rate.  Then there's a penalty equal to 1.5 times your new interest rate that's accrued.  And if you miss two payments in a row, you go into default.  Which is bad.  Don't go into default.

 

But as long as you make your minimum payments (which is super duper easy) you do not have to worry about any of that.  I try to remind people when they have payments coming up, but I have a lot of crap to do and some people fall through the cracks.  Ultimately it's up to you to remember.  I try to be reasonable.  If you get the money to me a couple hours after it's due and explain that you had a power outage, I'll spot you.  If you have a similar power outage NEXT week at the exact same time?  Well... I'll be more reluctant to let it slide.

 

Sometimes I have to be the bad guy because I'm caught in a place where I want to be nice to everyone, but a lot of the money I'm giving out is owed to other people that I've promised it to and I have to protect their investment.  So sometimes I'm going to have to rake someone across the coals.  And that's just the way it is.  But as long as you're not forgetful, you'll be completely fine.
