You're not even really supposed to do either of those, because the game is supposed to be persistent.

Depends really on your definition of ‘winning’, making moves to strengthen your own position and become the most ‘powerful’ alliance/bloc is what drives a lot of politics, but the line is drawn when you over-consolidate to the point of being completely untouchable.

What is ideal is if alliances aim for a state of ‘winning’ at the moment rather than a ‘game over’ style victory.

Winning is a lot less exciting than having to try not to lose, in my experience.

I agree. I think it's good to play to win, but in a king of the hill kind of sense. You know you are going to get knocked off eventually, but your goal is to get a solid group together and then try and see how long you can last at the top. Once you get knocked down, re-asses your FA, maybe meet some new people, and try again later against new kings of the hill. There were blocs vying for dominance for years without trying to sign everybody and their grandmother and strangle the game to do it. Hopefully we can get back to that.

Bingo. It comes down to personal style, a lot of IQ alliances/government were after a "game over" style victory. Which would have been enjoyable, at least for a time before stagnation and boredom kick in and they would have devoured each other.

Everyone is playing for their own type of victory but I clearly remember many alliances in this thread (!) basically consolidating power at one point or another to come to some type of total victory, even if it wasn’t game over they were the king of the hill. Only thing is “game over” isn’t really possible bc eventually someone will get bored and want to be the only person on top.

People thirst for power, it’s natural, and even if people in IQ took it too far it’s been a scenario repeated multiple times in this game. Hegemony and the fight against hegemony is THE driving force in this game, and it’s why minispheres are balls as all conflicts [that matter] in this game can only be two-sided without it devolving into a hegemonic state.

I'm just making this post because I was at '666' posts and I felt uncomfortable.
