Settling autonomy is not the end of a war. The Second World War in Europe ended when the Soviet Union successfully seized Berlin and the remaining German leadership surrendered.

How the Second World War started can be directed toward the policies enforced on Germany from the Treaty of Versailles which is what Stormrideron I believe is referring to.

Japan was a regional power

USA was one of the most industrialised countries in the world

Japan stood no chance

If freaking germany didnt start Barborossa until the UK and USA were down, and Japan destroyed China before pearl harbor, Japan could have won.

Nazi Germany started World War 2 with the invasion of Poland.

Not much else to it.

Then why didn't it start after the annexation of Austria? Or the invasion of Czechoslovakia? Or even the re-militarization of the Rhineland (which was a violation of of the Versailles and Locarno treaties). If the Western powers really wanted to, they could have crushed Germany early on before their re-militarization had barely even started, but they chose to give him years to prepare, which is why the war was so long and bloody when it finally did begin.

No, Hitler was trying to liberate German people oppressed by the Poles. UK started it by declaring on Germany.

The Invasion of Poland was more of an act of aggression and involved way more fighters than was used in Austria and Czechoslovakia. There was also less of a desire for German annexation at the time.

The idea that the UK and France are the ones who truly started World War II is an idea I think as some merit to it, but the general consensus that I'm use to is that Germany is the one that fired the first shot- justified or not. As such, I go with that.

There was more support for German annexation and fewer forces were used in Austria and Czechoslovakia. The Invasion of Poland was more of a direct act of aggression.

As for why it took so long, the Western Powers really wanted to avoid another large war, so they were really reluctant to do anything to stop Germany in the hopes that he'd eventually stop. It was a form of appeasement.

World War 2 is over. Just because Russia and Japan didn't officially sign a peace treaty doesn't mean it's still going on.

And the mass rape of German woman. Don't you love the Commies supporting that. :)

Oh yeah, because it's not like the Germans and the SS ever did anything as vicious and horrible as that (yet they have your support)

Supporting the end of the Third Reich and the end of all the horrible things they did is not the same as supporting war rape, you idiot. You know that, yet instead of actually using your brain and thinking rationally you choose to use your ill-made observations to accuse and antagonize people. You're trying to use your own ignorance make other people look bad but the thing is, all it does is make you look bad.

Japan needed to destroy Pear Harbor before doing anything else in the Pacific. Because they were almost completely out of oil.

The destruction of Pearl Harbor is mostly irrelevant. Any scenario in which Japan does not destroy the American Aircraft Carriers, is a scenario where Japan loses the war.

Conventional thinking at the time measured the strength of a navy by the power/quantity of its battleships, so they were the main target going into it on a perception that it would destroy moral and cripple the fleet. All 8 of the battleships were damaged, 4 of them sunk, 2 of those raised and the remaining 6 repaired and shipped off to war.

Their speed and fuel consumption however for the most part rendered them mostly useless(bar 1 or 2 battles) and mostly relegated to Naval Fire Support. It was the Aircraft Carrier and the Submarine which won the War in the Pacific at sea. Fail to take those out and you don't win period.

Tag-teaming Poland with the Soviet Union obviously isn't liberation of oppressed people, that's invasion and occupation by force.

Germany deserved everything that happened to it lol

Germany deserved everything that happened to it and deserves what's happening to it today, which isn't really all that different from the last days of the reich when the Soviets reached Berlin.

Agree with the first part, we are a rich country and life is good. But i think it is different from 1945, nobody steals our railroads nowadays...
