  1. So. Um. Was any thought given to how this will affect server load? You made it easier for people to make the site unusable?
  2. It only appears dark because you're standing on the outside, my friend. Step into the light and all will be illuminated. Hail Pacifica.
  3. This thread pleases me greatly but it needs more me, so without further ado... Our side rules. Your side sucks. We are right. You are wrong. Yay us!
  4. Well, whew. I was in no mood to re-fight the last few days. They were painful enough the first time. Hats off to PigsInZen and the other Mensa [sic] guys that kicked my teeth in. I am a bit disappointed about losing some war stats. I managed to land a few missiles in those lost days.
  5. Yes, I am a cool opponent. I give you major credit for recognizing that. This is one of the reasons that I have nothing but respect for Mensa [sic]. You guys went for the jugular without mercy and without apologies. I would behave no differently, as would anyone worthy of respect. I even respect that you'll toe the party line and mete out self-serving, insincere compliments, and perhaps that you'll go so far as to believe your own propaganda. But it is transparent propaganda, nonetheless. As the king of rock 'n roll, Mr. GG Allin himself once said, "Shoot, knife, strangle, beat and crucify. These are the 5 laws of the jungle that I live by." Truer words have never been spoken. We are here to !@#$ shit up, not tap out early. I
  6. The point is -- and I guess I need to spell it out in simple terms for a Mensa member [sic] -- that the Mensa side hails are not genuine or sincere. Your transparent hails are self-serving. I've seen this in every war, everywhere, constantly. Maybe if you had a little experience under your belt, you'd recognize it, too. Do I think Cornerstone had good intentions? Absolutely. Do I believe that they are honorable and decent kids? Totally. Do I think that this was, in the grand scheme of things, a wise decision that will serve their alliance and its reputation? No. I'm not their ally, I am not sitting on any throne, and I don't speak for any alliance, so I'm not obliged to sugar-coat the obvious. It is better to go down in flames; it is better to be completely wrecked and forced to start from scratch than it is to surrender with allies on the field. That's my definition of honor and loyalty. Obviously these guys are just noobs and that's fine. We learn through our mistakes. But the only people in the universe who believe that a quick surrender is the correct course of are the people who receive the surrender. And even they, in their hearts, know they would never have done the same if the roles were reversed. So please, spare me your sad and trite little comebacks. You're not fooling anyone. Not even yourself. It is gracious to accept a surrender on lenient terms. It is deceptive to hail it as a wise decision and bestow obviously false compliments about the intelligence of the decision.
  7. One side hails the honor of the alliance that surrendered to them, the other side hails the honor of their ally who buckled in two days. Both sides are rolling their eyes and either privately snickering or groaning. If had a dollar for every time I saw this... well... I'd have many dollars. It's cynical all around. Get a new script, already. This one is stale and predictable.
  8. Here's a tip that you need to learn early, SWF, because your past incarnations in other lands had trouble with it -- and I say this as a friend and a fellow-traveller: don't air your dirty laundry in public. It just makes you look bumbling and incompetent. You're already predisposed towards being perceived this way. Why in the world would you reinforce it like this? And the no-merge clause is dumb. It bears a striking resemblance to a "no disbandment" clause in the charter of a particular anarchist federation that I won't mention. I would not be surprised if they had their fingerprints all over this. If you were smart, you'd purge them from your ranks ASAP.
  9. Mensa HQ [sic] is 100% in their right to attack anyone they want, for any reason. As would be anyone. If anything, any justification only weakens that position. I care as little about a silly casus belli as they do. The world order is organized such that anyone should attack whenever, wherever, and why-ever (new word! I rule!) they choose, and not be constrained by what any peanut gallery thinks, unless that peanut gallery is willing to put its missiles where its mouth is. And that is right and just. And it is the only precedent that anyone should respect. Time for talk has passed. My dance card is empty and I intend to fill it before this prom is over.
  10. As an adopted 15 year old girl suffering from lupus and cancer, and cancer of the lupus, I feel it is important to keep a clear division between the IC and the OOC. I would never use my chemo treatments as a cheap ploy for sympathy (let alone mercy!) from my attackers. Even the thought of it makes me sick. Almost as sick as I feel after suffering through one of my treatments. Sure, this game was my only escape from the hell that is my real life, and building my nation brought me great joy. But I would never use that for personal gain in this game. Perish the thought. If I ever realized my dream of meeting my birth parents and getting the bone marrow donated from the only people who could be a genetic match, I'm sure they would agree: IC and OOC don't mix.
  11. Agreed. These are 10 minutes of my life that I will never get back.
  12. Dear lord. Is it 2007 again? Been there, done that. If you're going to do something like this, do it right. Do it with flair. Do it with gusto. Quote some historical figure. Spend a bit of time preparing your propaganda. Make us smirk at your cleverness. As it stands, this is some amateur shit. Next time you pull something like this, send me a PM. I'm willing to freelance some decent polemics.
  13. You've got some serious powers of insight here, bro.
  14. Why don't you just say "baww" and save us all a bit of unnecessary reading? Jesus, man.
  15. Taiwan is nothing more than a political football. It ceases to exist as an independent entity within hours of the withdrawal of US support.
  16. The notion that Stalin "killed more people than Hitler" is more propaganda than anything else, and based upon a very loose interpretation of what it means to "kill." In order to inflate Stalin's body count, you have to include famines and other disasters, and while it is arguable to suggest they may have been preventable, are not on par with Hitler's aggressive wars and his genocidal campaign. Stalin was not a nice guy, but it is pure Western cold war propaganda to put him in the Hitler category.
  17. What a terrible announcement. It's even terrible by ironic, hipster standards. We are truly the worst alliance ever. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot about SK. SECOND worst alliance ever.
  18. I apologize for being pedantic, but in grade school they taught me that you drop articles in acronyms.
  19. Whew! That puts my mind at ease. I was terrified that there would be nothing left by the time it was my turn for a target.
  20. Can't say I believe you. I prefer to believe this is just the public "death" of Sindorin so that you can adopt one more persona. At ay rate, I always liked you. Usually didn't get along with you, but I liked you.
  21. Hagbard Celine, for those of you not cool enough to recognize it instantly, is a central character in the paranoid psychedelic science fiction novel called The Illuminatus Trilogy. Also, I've been "Craig" for the last 8 years in some other game (and in "real life"). I needed a change.
