Why does the US suck so much?

Amsterdam is in the Netherlands, and I get the Netherlands confused with Denmark. :P

Lol. That's okay. We all make mistakes. I make grammar errors occasionally and you make some geographical errors occasionally. Edited by Vladimir Zhogin

Other places I'd consider living would be Scotland, and Southern Ireland.

You can make yourself have a pretty good Scottish accent. I would consider going to the Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Also Cuba. Edited by Vladimir Zhogin

I have family from Lithuania, and a friend from Latvia.

I agree with you, that no utopia can exist or will. I honestly think the best places in the world would be Scandinavia.

The people of Southern Socialist Republic believe in honour, integrity, and an ice cold Coca-Cola.

They talk about the failure of socialism but where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Asia, and Latin America?

Cool, never realized Finland wasn't considered part of Scandinavia.

This video is the reason why I say "the Nordic countries" now :D

It's ridiculous how many Americans think that Europe is predominantly socialist. Just because socialists are elected (and they haven't been elected much, at least not recently) does not mean the entire societal structure changes into pure socialism over night. Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, they are all free market liberal democracies, not socialist states.

True. I hate the black lives matter movement. I am not being racist, but they are attacking police and the more movements like this, the more segregated we get.

This is a lie, they are doing no such thing. What's really happening, is that the police are murdering innocent people in cold blood because your society suffers from the worst case of institutional racism this planet has ever seen, and people are getting fed up with it. Attitudes like yours enable racism and is part of why America sucks.

Several million Muslims in America. Sweden: maybe 1 to 1000. Mostly refugees. Some are from Eritrea.

This is also wildly inaccurate.

"In 2009 a report made a statement that there are 450,000 to 500,000 Muslims in Sweden, around 5% of the total population, and that the Muslim Council of Sweden reported 106,327 officially registered members."

I live in Scandinavia and I gotta say, people with opinions like yours usually don't fit in here. Oh and, as a native Scandinavian I can tell you that Scandinavians most definitely consider Finland to be a part of Scandinavia. The same goes for pretty much every nation with a Nordic cross flag.

They are interchangeable terms, you will find few Scandinavians that don't consider Nordic nations to equal Scandinavian nations. You cannot lecture me about my own culture, I already know.

Did it never crosses anyone's mind that the Nordic/Scandinavian countries' miniscule population might have something to do with their overall economy?

Look at all these high school educated political experts.

Never stated I was. I don't see you placing much in the matter, anyway.

They, quite frankly, are not interchangeable, because one is geographical and the other is cultural.

It's a combination of abundant natural resources spread on few people, but without government intervention, regulation and ownership of those resources and the essential industries connected to them we would probably not be as well off.

They, quite frankly, are not interchangeable, because one is geographical and the other is cultural.

You're not understanding me. On paper you are correct but what is on paper is not what actually happens. I know from personal experience of being a Scandinavian and constantly being in contact with Scandinavians that people interchange those terms, regardless of what is theoretically correct.

Now this statement I can get behind. Now I see what you mean. I agree more with the writings rather than how the people actually react. I offend less people this way.

Try the Deep South, or the Bible Belt for that matter. North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia.

I live in the south and have visited or traveled through all of the areas you have listed at least once. These people you describe are still nowhere to be found,

The absolute worst type of people I've found were the "BUT MUH FREEDOM FROM TURRISTS ATTACK" folk, but even they have become less and less common.

I have a couple of American friends who wish the South had seceded, because they think the South drags the rest of the country down with them and that they'd better be better off without. I'm sure things aren't actually that simple, but I'm inclined to agree with them.

I mean, the superiority complex of the US is pretty annoying. "We have the biggest army, so we can do whatever we want".

This is why the PaW debate section is utter garbage.

If I told you I am from and live in the South ( Mississippi to be exact ), would you still agree with them?   :P

Of course.

Nobody wants the south. Your friends however also probably think the US would still be the same US it is today, economically dominant and influential. which....is very...very wishful thinking, considering a large portion of that is the work of our Geopolitics, of which the south provides most of the muscle, manpower wise.

Some of my peers aren't perfect in this regard of helping that notion, most of them still try to justify Iraq to me.

Other than that, yea the south does tend to hold the country back on a lot of issues, mostly social.

Yes, through. Have you lived here, perhaps? Not in a city, but rather a smaller town? Because my town is an example of one of these "bigger army diplomacy" people.

The South does, in a way. It's always been it's own entity. The South and the North have always been different through history, really dragging down the progress of the nation as a whole.

I dunno.

Does having lived in a small town surrounded by farms, people on horseback, 4x4 off roaders, intensely evangelical churches that set up meetings at your HS(voluntary) and the sound of gun shots and wild game crossing your road for upwards of 4 years count as having lived in the south?

Oh yea and spiders trying to get in your house. Everywhere.

Then I don't know what's going on in your town, because I've been told hundreds of times that the US should take over different countries.
