Reduce the length of time it takes to make a new city, but increase the cost accordingly.

Right now, you can only make 1 city every 10 days. What I'm thinking is have the 10 day price increased by 20%for every day before the 10th day.

So instead of the bold text being something like this: You cannot build a new city because you already built a City or National Project in the last 120 turns. You can build a new city in 36 turns.

It becomes something like this: You have already built a City or National Project in the last 120 turns. You can build a new city in 36 turns for $425,000.00 or you can build a new city right now for $680,000.00,

I would still have a minimum delay of 6 or 7 days, but allow players that choice to sink more money into their investments. Think of it as giving the ruler the choice of paying their guys normal time, or overtime.

eeurm no there is no reason why there should be a cooldown on building cities coz they money aspect is already a limiting factor atm :D also increasing the cost now would be unfair to the peeps that already bought their city since they got it cheaper

I like this but that choice, wouldn't it benefit bigger nations more? Thus widening the gap between tiers.

Not quite, it would benefit more established alliances though. Basically larger alliances that have been around a while could drop several million on a newer nations to instantly get him several cities.

Last, there's already a cooldown of 10 days. What I'm suggesting here is giving nations the option to lower the cooldown by spending more. We're still keeping the time factor, which helps to address the point Prefontaine makes (see next quote), but we're also helping to alleviate the boredom factor with larger nations who want to be able to build a tad quicker.

Right, and since this is a by-product wouldn't this ultimately incentivize new players to join establish alliances? I mean I know personally, I don't have that much cash, but I'd still burn an extra 300k to get my city a few days earlier. There'd still be a wait time, just the wait time would be less.

city building requires patience, no need to add a feature that will allow people to quickly buy cities if they have the appropriate cash on hand, this will only increase the gap between older players and newer players.

Amidst the eternal waves of time From a ripple of change shall the storm rise Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon Behold the razgriz, its wings of black sheath The demon soars through dark skies Fear and death trail its shadow beneath Until men united weild a hallowed sabre In final reckoning, the beast is slain As the demon sleeps, man turns on man His own blood and madness soon cover the earth From the depths of despair awaken the razgriz Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light

This would get a support from me if the price increase is like... +5% for each turns left of the timer. So if you want to build another city right away after you built the last one, you'll have to pay 700% of the price for that. So to example in the OP would be at $1,190,000

I think it's a bad idea for most of the reasons already stated, an alliance like Guardian or DEIC or UPN could very easily build someone up to quite a few cities in only a day or two. While this is good for that nation and that alliance, it's bad for the game overall. Why would anyone want to form new alliances, or join new alliances? The economic benefits to joining a large alliance are already quite high, we don't need to make that more apparent.

I want to be clear, I am not under any circumstances advocating a complete abandonment of the time delay. I'm merely suggesting giving the option to reduce the interval between cities by a few days. There's still be what, 5 or 6 minimum days between cities.
