[ithiqarte] Hello, hello. I will be making this announcement quite brief. Meonesia has been, since the seventeenth century, plagued by imperialism. And you realize that it still is, I hope. It is the Evenstar! Those imperialists! To you, Thalmor, I have a message: It is not right to take an area over by force, against the will of the citizens! Now I know my opposition and critics will say, 'Oh but Ithiqarte just took over a large portion of land from NEVEC!' To them, I hope they become informed because we offer full rights to all citizens of the region, and we bought the land rather than taking it. Now, back to the topic at hand. The northernmost island of Meonesia, the former Northern Meonesian Federation, is under the control of the imperialist Evenstar. Now, I pledge, as the Premier of Meonesia, that that island will be under Meonesia's control once more! We will take the island back, and bring it to its rightful place as part of the free Republic, instead of under the control of an imperialist dictator that calls himself a 'justified king' Thalmor! The Meonesian isles will finally be under the full control of a government in the Meonesian isles. And thus, as Premier of the Republic and with a majority from the Representatives Forum, I, Eneqea Ithiqarte, officially announce that the Republic of Meonesia declares war on the Kingdom of the Evenstar. *Cameras flash, newspeople speak to cameras, and hands start to rise into the air asking for their questions to be answered. Ithiqarte picks on one* [Journalist] I don't doubt your strategy skill, but how do you stand a chance against such a mighty force? [ithiqarte] I know something that you and many others do not, including those of the Evenstar. [Journalist] What is it? [ithiqarte] Next! [Other Journalist] Ahem, Mr. Premier, don't you consider this will likely affect our economy, and our ability to maintain our newly purchased land in America? [ithiqarte] Of course it will! Our economy will decline, and our newly purchased land will have a larger crime rate, and we will certianly be negatively affected. But consider this, if you will: Do you value a slight bump in our economy and control over the freedom of several hundred thousand people? [Another Journalist] How will you even get troops there? They have a huge air force--just in Evenstar Meonesia they have more than our entire air force. They could easily bomb transport ships before they got to Evenstar Meonesia. [ithiqarte] Ahh. But you see, we don't need to get troops there. [Another Journalist] What? It has been confirmed that Ithiqarte has just arrived to Evenstar Meonesia. Meonesian forces have begun shelling Matterswork, and Ithiqarte announced he hopes to soon take the city. Thalmor Posted September 21, 2016 Share Posted September 21, 2016 Defense of Matterswork: Less than an hour into the invasion of Evenstar-Meonesia by Meonesia, most of the island except for Matterswork has been lost. Internet, television, and cell service to the island has been cut off. However, this is not the Meonesian's doing. Instead, this was done by the government of Evenstar-Meonesia to prevent mass panic. Schools were immediately ordered to cancel class and to quickly send kids home. Then, block-by-block, citizens were ordered to return home from work. This was coordinated by the Military Police instead of Regulars, which are preparing fortifications. Thankfully, electricity and water still runs to most homes and businesses. For now, things are peaceful. Once most of the city has returned home, the Military Police will go door-to-door to issue pamphlets giving instructions on what to do from here and to accept military volunteers. In terms of defense, the total number of defenders number about 21,000. The Medical Support Support Companies (Yes, there's suppose to be 2 'Supports' in there) have gotten to work establishing two layers of triages throughout Matterworks: An outer layer for the main line of defense and an inner layer for civilians and for later use. Telecommunications Engineers Support Companies have gotten to work making sure contact with the mainland and between different battle groups can be maintained throughout the defense. Finally, Combat Engineers Support Companies have been busy erecting sandbags and cement barriers for the defenders. Despite all emergency preparations working quickly and without many kinks, the starting position of the defenders isn't peak. Most military bases were located directly outside Matterswork. In the interest of reaching the most advantageous defensive position, the personnel and equipment of these bases were quickly moved into (well, directly outside of) Matterswork. Most troops were only able to get most of their gear. The Logistics Support Support Companies moved what they could, but not all gear and supplies were moved into the city in time. You can't transport tens of thousands of soldiers, equipment, and hundreds of tanks using teleportation without it being noticed. As for a secret underground network, that'd take a very long time to build to get troops from Meonesian Meonesia to Evenstar Meonesia--much longer than the amount of time Ithiqarte has been Premier. Thalmor Posted September 21, 2016 Share Posted September 21, 2016 One of the biggest losses suffered thus far has been the loss of over 200 aircraft of the Royal Evenstar Air Force and their associated pilots and maintenance crew. Currently, 700 aircraft from all across mainland Evenstar, and Unita and Opeck are mobilizing to provide air support for the besiege defenders of Matterswork. Meonesia's declaration of war has also been viewed by Evenstar officials. We are quite confident that they're the ones responsible for this (we was not sure what was going on at first). We fully support the Kingdom of Evenstar in their conflict, The French Ministry of Defense has allocated 23 million Kronas in Military Aid to Evenstar, alongside 12,000 high-end equipment. Similarly, with Portugal, we do not see how anyone can justify an invasion regardless. Meonesia is a joke. They have had more civil unrest than any other nation. In my opinion you don't deserve to torture the people of Evenstar Meonesia with your constant civil war.
