We also got contacted afterwards of showing the picture off by a group looking for "non-native species".  Apparently that frog is a Cuban Treefrog.  So now they're hunting him down in the Lowe's Garden Center, lol.

That's fascinating! That species likely got into your area because Cuban tree frogs are commonly available as pets (even though they can secrete a eye burning substance from its skin) and occasionally get released into non-native areas by unsuspecting owners. From there, they breed and become invasive.
