Every alliance in this game is trash though... ...except for Arrgh, but they're not really an alliance. They're just taking out the trash.

Thread of the year right here.
  3. Bankers talk with each other. If you don't pay off a loan once, it's unlikely another banker will lend you cash in the future. Not paying a loan back will probably ruin your reputation among alliances too. This is also why bankers diversify their holdings instead of lending too much to a single client. It sucks getting ripped off, but you can minimize your exposure. You should open a stock exchange instead then where you're the intermediary between buyers and sellers of shares. lol
  4. Evaluation's pretty simple, but it takes initiative before selling shares. First, you lend money to create assets on the balance sheet. Then, you divide the asset worth by however many shares you want to offer. The problem is people invest in banks before loans are made. They speculate purely on the character of the account executives... which isn't necessarily bad, but it's gutsy. Typically, you invest after a track record of lending has been established both to know you can trust the account executives as well as to know how fast they rollover their cash to get an estimate on rate of growth. Also, if there are no liabilities in a bank, that should be a sign of concern. Banks should have two liabilities: salary for account executives, and enforcement contracts with some alliance in case loans aren't repaid. Obviously, you want these numbers as small as possible so equity's as large as possible, but they need to be reasonably large to be convinced that the bank is actually doing business. If the executives aren't paid enough, then you should be concerned that there's a scam. If enforcement contracts aren't large enough, then you should be concerned that loans aren't guaranteed.
  5. I'm lost. How do you lose money in shares? The bank could just void who owns what. Did some actual transaction go down that wasn't supposed to?
  6. That moment when you see NPO members competing with each other on the coal market, driving the purchase price up almost 300 points in less than a day... (No, I don't make steel.)
  7. That moment when you're playing Mordor in Civ 5's LOTR mod, you got 25 faith, but 100 turns later, you never get a religion.
  8. Gotta pump and dump. That's the name of the game.
  9. The whole forum should probably just get deleted. It's hardly active, and when it is, nobody cares.
  10. I'm thinking the game could spawn a new nation everytime someone reaches that objective with sufficient infrastructure and forces. Maybe put some loot in too. When the war ends, the nation would get deleted. To avoid bugs, the target nation would only appear to the player which reached the objective. If others put the nationid in, the game would say that the target nation does not exist.
  11. The only good paper... is treasure map paper... Gotta love the good ol days.
  12. Yea, that's the key. You need to get the jump on everyone, and keep them pinned down. I remember times when I fought 5 people at a time and won, but it was because they were unorganized and slow. Even when bigger and bigger enemies dogpiled on, you can win if you rapidly execute your attacks. If the enemy ever gets air superiority on you, you're dead meat too. "My ship is ready" only works if your navy is bigger than theirs. This is also why I complained when Lordaeron crushed me. It didn't realize how pirates help the game by keeping people on their toes. When you crush a pirate, you excuse other alliances with inactive players.
  13. Soldiers: Casualties: Killed: 0 3,234,655 3,806,406 Tanks: Lost: Destroyed: 55 75,411 64,886 Aircraft: Lost: Destroyed: 0 10,806 7,903 Ships: Lost: Destroyed: 14 1,330 948 gg mate Btw, $5-10m is nothing. I make that much in 1 day. As a former pirate myself, let me know if you need help rebuilding.
  14. This should be renamed to Sam's Club.
  15. Anything to improve baseball is good. I prefer round robin tournaments, but this is a start.
  16. Threads like this make me want to go "Ftw?" Then, I forget how wtf backwards actually means something.
  17. Tbh, unless you're top tier, PnW really isn't good for banking. There's so many resources in the game now, and alliances will grant newcomers plenty of resources to get their economies rolling ASAP. It makes you come off like this:
  18. This isn't true though. People spend way more time doing nothing than actually fighting wars. If the goal was to win wars, then people would literally be declaring war on each other all hours of the day. Politics should be in a post-apocalyptic mindset of setting up a roaming gang that constantly runs over everything in its path. The idea of winning to make others cry isn't friendly competition either. If anything, players with that mindset should be deliberately targeted since they're discouraging others from taking initiative. When you get rid of the sadists, you'll end up with more wars from people realizing the game shouldn't be taken so seriously.
  19. If anything, it should be the exact opposite. Because it's a persistent game, it should be regularly conquered nonstop. The issue in this game should be neverending wars that constantly keep people pinned down, not wars that literally take several months to build up to while the top tier becomes unreachable. I honestly don't understand how people are ever motivated to multiaccount. I get the idea on a rational basis to cheat, but that turns the game into work which isn't fun. It's not like when people commit identity fraud IRL to hack people's bank accounts for a windfall.
  20. Beyond the game, yea, it's moral. Within the game, it's not. It's like when you sit down to play Risk with your friends. Everyone's trying to conquer the world. Do you declare a casus belli to do so? No. You just do it... ...but when someone wins, you say gg and move on.
  21. Morality shouldn't exist in a game like this. People should just have a sense of friendly competition like playing basketball with your friends after school. The fun of the game comes from playing to win. The only difference is that once you win, you're supposed to take on bigger and bigger challenges since winners get a long-term advantage. It's not like when you play basketball, every game resets the score from zero. TKR's failure was it bit off way more than it could chew. It was ahead, but it wasn't that far ahead. How do you end up at war with your parent alliance, parent's rival, and lose your own closest allies?
  22. This game doesn't have a future. It's why I went into vacation mode for 6 months and just came back last night. Then again, most games don't have a future. Video games in general are becoming incredibly more toxic while toxic players get away with labeling non-toxic players as toxic. The biggest problem is games take up so much time from players' lives that it's getting to the point that they literally can't support themselves in real life unless they're spoiled brats. Therefore, decent people don't play games, and indecent people are all that's left. Indecent toxicity is resulting in worse and worse games getting made, and even the toxic players don't want to play them anymore. Remember boys and girls, if you're constantly making fun of others, then you eventually won't have anything fun to do. The people you make fun of will go away, and all the people who make fun of others won't have anything creative to offer.
  23. Antarctica's like playing Dan in Street Fighter.
