  1. ......... ........................ Is this how badly they want some sort of social interaction or are they just being that masochistic? Cuz jeez, they need some help.
  2. To any other Worm fans out there, there's great news! Wildbow's just released the first parts of the sequel! To any of the uninitiated, Worm is a web serial novel based in a world of superheroes and supervillains in the urban scale fantasy of a world quite like our own. The story revolves around Taylor Hebert, and her newly gained powers. However, the world of Worm is no friendly and cheerful place. White and black morality exist only as shades of grey, heroes are not as noble as they may seem and villains may not be as evil as they appear, and the presence of superpowers has not necessarily changed the world for the best. If you're interested, here's the link to Wildbow's website, where you can find both the original story and its new sequel: https://parahumans.wordpress.com/
  3. How does communication work? Depending on how fast that is, it would change how things would work, as faster communication lines have also done so for us. Slower lines of communication will probably make them be de facto independent, as they barely have any contact with back home while faster lines of communication will lead to more centralization.
  4. Hmm. Well, I think it's kinda because of how people have seen it be used. I mean, look at the giant shit show in the Middle East today. The introduction of democracy to those countries has done nothing to help the people of the countries. In fact, what's happened since we've toppled their dictatorships has made it worse for the people of those countries. Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Arab Spring, nearly all of them ended in a disaster for the people after the introduction of democracy. That's probably why people are saying that you don't need to live in a democratic nation in order to live there and have a nation that kinda barely works at minimum. As for the issue of free speech, well, that's probably a bit of how people are seeing it used for. I mean, IIRC, there's a SCOTUS court case defending the right of Nazis to hold a Nazi parade in a Jewish neighborhood. The ACLU nearly went into a civil war with itself when it chose to defend the Nazis in that case. Nowadays, you have college kids being absolute !@#$wads, people running around again with Nazi symbols, the Westboro Baptist "church", and so many other things, regardless of political leanings, that basically just keep spewing hate and bullshit into the world because they have the 1st Amendment. Speaking as a pretty young person here, I can definitely see why support for absolute freedom of speech and the belief in the necessity of democracy has fallen after so many things that have soured the image of those ideals.
  5. Maybe a suggestion of going another step or two of relation if you ever choose to change your names again and want to avoid the salt. Like, I dunno, Lordaeron -> Lordran -> Anor Londo?
  6. Needs better collision mechanics. Can't hurl Arrgh through the web and cause chaos across the web wherever it goes. 0/10, would not recommend. Also, Holy crap that hasn't been updated in a while.
  7. Which is why you make a hidden still in the basement, so they don't know its there, and you can make it and drink it your heart's desire. Oh shit, did I say that out loud? Whoops.
  8. Bit late there mate, but why would we relieve ourselves of our greatest passive defense and change our name?
  9. So long as they don't cause more trouble, I'm fairly fine with this. Then again, they are studying the way of the nuke, so that might be a problem, but we already have raiders getting salty enough to nuke a 1.5k infra city in TFP and I don't think he got it from you guys and I have reasonable faith in you guys to teach them responsible use.
  10. Huh. So that's how it looks on the outside. While I can't say anything for things going into actual fighting, for TFP, we and a few other guys got a little paranoid with Hogwarts. After the last secret attack attempt by Partisan got foiled, a public announcement of going to hit someone kinda set off alarm bells of "Oh shit he has enough support to do it without secrecy". As such, and also considering that Sparta had just surprise blitzed Grumpy while Grumpy had their pants down, we felt it was in the best interest to pull our pants up and mobilize in order to not get killed by whatever initial horror Partisan had.
  11. Cuz Flairda. There's gonna be a random sinkhole that opens up right in front of you.
  12. Well, yer in the US now. People are gonna look at you funny if you say you got a temp of 20 something and have a fever. That and the traffic cop's gonna be a bit concerned if you mention that you were going 60 (kmh, but he don't know that) on a 40 mph road.
  13. Errrrr..... That's why it's currently a CB, and not Hogwarts getting smeared on the sidewalk right now. Act of war would have all the treaties activated like Yugioh activates trap cards and the guy in question getting a very bad day.
  14. ... I mean... I'm pretty sure plotted secret attack still pretty good cause for a CB. Like, wasn't the Zimmerman Telegram one of the reasons why the US went into WWI?
  15. I know, but still looked like Hi hope lolis 2017 Thalmor when I first looked at it. Needed Lilyum to point out that it's the date, not a word.
  16. Thalmor, you gotta use marker next time. I read that as "Hi, Hope lolis 2017 -Thalmor"
  17. Huh. That puts things a little into perspective. Not too sure how the breakdown would look for TFP, but as we're basically the sacrificial low tier lamb for our coalition and are going to be outnumbered forever in a war (which will most likely lead to many of us looking like Detroit after being nuked like we saw last time), we kinda went "o shit" when we heard "militarizing" and went around mashing the military recruitment button so we don't get caught with our pants down. Some of those airplane recruitment percentages are quite shocking though, like Zodiac's 50 or so percent. Would have thought it'd be higher.
  18. Whoops, the Guardian TFP thing was a bit of a mess up. We originally did it around late July-early August, but we both thought the other person was going to post it then. As a result, we kinda didn't post it. That should be resolved shortly.
  19. I thought they were just really anti-libertarian and decided to jack theft (taxes) up to 11.
  20. Bit late, but congrats to House Stark and Lordaeron. Good to see some of our first allies coming back together, even if Lordaeron's not Kastor's alliance anymore and the Night's Watch has been long absorbed into the bannermen of House Stark. Hope to see you guys fighting alongside us rather than against us!
  21. Hey! Partisan, whazzup? How's the thing going? You never got back to me when you were talking about those spy attacks!
