Meanwhile back at home, in Canada, citizens begin to realize something. Could Britain have foreseen this plot and chosen not to warn Canada? Britain planned to war Malta earlier, and also would not allow Canadian and American ships to enter Gibraltar. Did Britain know that allowing the ships to pass Gibraltar would certainly result in their death?

 

Nothing has been confirmed... but the rumours fly around anyways.

 

BTW Missiles used on American cities are NOT nuclear. Simply stating that Canadian nuclear research does exist in a secret building somewhere in the 20-ish? million square kilometres of Canada there is to search.

Betrayal. That's what he felt. But ridiculous. To have a feeling of betrayal, there would have had to be a feeling of trust first. The USA, a potential ally. Malta, our actual ally. And the Soviet Union, well, the Soviet Union.

 

"Damnit!" He sat down in the middle of the room as thoughts ran through his head.

 

Let the military geniuses handle this one... as long as they give me general ideas of what's happening. And get that nuclear program finished, this could go years and years if we play it right... perhaps Canada will be the ones to test out the world's 3rd nuclear missile, on NYC or Moscow.

 

Suddenly, he sat down at his desk, suprisingly calm, and started to fill out a document that would declare a State of Emergency, launch the Wartime Measures Act, wartime taxes, embargoes on Malta, The United States and The Soviet Union, conscription orders, orders for rationing and factory wartime production, and for production of MORE tanks, MORE aircraft, and MORE ships.

 

"There!...shoot." The nuclear program too. Taking out his pen again, he signed the document that would allot more funding to the nuclear program.

 

Canada needed a leader. The future of the country balanced on a knife. Prime Minister Eric had confidence of a victory if things went right. But would they? Everything had to be perfect. Canada needed a leader.

 

Standing on top of his desk, he yelled, "For Canada! We need a leader!" before realizing what he was doing, jumping down and going to get lunch.

Canada, having done some basic research on missiles, and having scraped the tip of the iceberg on nuclear bombs, sends several missiles at Washington, D.C, New York City, Chicago, Buffalo and Minneapolis - aiming at the downtown cores of those cities and important military bases. 

 

Canada calls it's emergency citizens militia into defensive mode - every single citizen with a registered firearm and those who are in the militia take up defense of their cities. Canada's valuable assets are transported to a secret location. Then, emptying it's military bases and leaving the citizen militia to defend, the military is split into 5 major divisions. 1 to attack Southwest British Columbia, 1 to attack Edmonton and Northern Alberta, and 1 to attack Calgary and Southern Alberta. Another division is sent, along with civilian militia, to the far north. The recently completed missile launchers hit Russian cities, although they are rather lacking on range - meaning that the Canadians unfortunately are unable to hit any Russian towns of importance.

 

Canadian tanks are ready to go as well, and the medium sized, but well maintained air force begins diving deep and strafing troops entering the Canadian border. 

 

The Canadian Navy begins to run from the American navy - all except for the aircraft. They, having sustained losses, take what is left of the divisions and begin bombing American planes. A massive fight begins, just 15 minutes away from Gibraltar. The remaining ships begin to run deeper into the Mediterrean, headed for Malta. The Canadian navy is the same speed as the Americans however and the commanders use this to their advantage. Sending out some submarines and heavy bombers, along with ships equipped with rockets, those ships take incredible casualties, but manage to hold the Americans off until the bulk of the Canadian navy can exit American firing ranges. Meanwhile, a very tight air formation blocks American bombers from bombing Canadian ships.

 

Unfortunately, missiles of this area are rather inaccurate, and Siberian towns are rather small targets. An old goat by the name of billy dies of a heart attack when a missile goes of nearby. Some civilian losses occur as well.

 

Canadian fighters would swiftly be engaged by MiG-15s. These fighters were one of the best available in this time period, it would be rather difficult for the Canadians to do much damage.

 

Soviet Tu-4s, escorted by MiG-15s, would continue their bombing campaigns.

 

Soviet ground forces would pound the enemy forces with artillery from a distance. Closer in, mortars and anti-tank guns would be employed. Soviet T-34s, BA-64s, and ground troops would work in cooperation to overrun their Canadian enemies, once the rocket and conventional artillery had taken its toll.

 

 

The Canadian Navy, or what is left of it, begins to attack Soviet naval positions near Victoria and St.Johns (Newfoundland). Hitting on the Soviet positions hard, Canada manages to clear out two pockets - for foreign aid to come through. The question is: "Will there be any?"

 

Nothing of the sort would occur. There were no "Soviet naval positions," but rather, small groups of Soviet subs travelling shipping lanes and attacking Canadian ships, submerging whenever necessary. The Canadian navy was going to have to actually escort its vessels to protect them. Additionally, Be-6 attacks would continue.

 

(OOC: For the record, I'm assuming that some time has gone by since the beginning of the rp, which started in 1948. Hence, I'm using MiG-15s and Be-6s, which came out in 1949 and 1950 respectively. I mean, all those things we've done so far would have taken considerable time)

The Canadian Navy decides to invest in Submarines, and soon Canadian subs are hitting Soviet subs with underwater missiles.

 

Canada makes more bombers of better quality in response to the Soviets using MiG-15s - the result is named the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck (or affectionally called the Clunk). Few upgraded CF-100's are also built for the best fighters and those are called the Avro Canada CF-105 Arrows (called the Carrots in military slang).

 

Canada brings out it's artillery in greater numbers as well to counter the Soviets - the artillery is about equal to what the Soviet Union has in Canada and decreases casualties dramatically.

 

Meanwhile, Canada sends out marines and paratroopers to operate in stealth in Russia and the United States. Traveling far in Russia (several thousand kilometers disguised), they attack the city of Novosibirsk in Russia and kill many civilians before being captured. In the United States, Canadian marines and paratroopers wreak havoc in populated cities especially in the East Coast of the United States.

 

Seeing as the defensive part in Canada is going acceptably well for the time being, Canada decides to invade Maine and Vermont with a large Task Force from Quebec. The invasion is somewhat successful and the provinces of Maine and Vermont are now half Canadian as the invasion swept past the militia on guard there quickly - the USA has not even had time to respond yet.

 

Canada apologizes for killing the old goat Billy, animal casualties are not being targeted.

(IC): As chaos breaks out all over Malta, new orders have been given to the police and military.....kill all Canadians on sight. Once the streets are back in the hands of the Maltese, the government turns it's attention to the Canadian base. After our special forces have delt with the harbor, they turn attention on a night time raid to disable the airfield on the Canadian base and destroy all communication towers, water stations, and power generators. As daylight comes, we commence a concentrated motar attack against the various barracks and command structures on the base.

The Maltese government sends an ultimatum to senior most ranking Canadian official on Malta. "Cease all combat operations against the Maltese government and her people, lay down all your weapons and cease all shore bombardments and we will allow your remaining countrymen to take small boats out to your naval vessels and be gone from our shores. Refuse....and every last one of your citizens will die here.....on foreign soil.....and their bodies will not be given the proper last rights they deserve. What say you"?

Unfortunately,realistically, it takes at least a few months to build a sub, more if you don't have the technical knowledge of building subs. Hence, while it would be quite possible for Canada to use subs it had prior to the war, it would be rather difficult to just spawn new subs in a timely fashion.

 

Similar problems would no doubt be faced in attempts to just spawn whole new bomber and fighter fleets in the middle of the war...

 

The deployment of additional artillery would be really the only effective thing the Canadians had done so far. However, said moves could be countered by Soviet artillery pieces performing counter-battery operations in addition to their regular strikes on the Canadian positions. Soviet artillery pieces would be regularly moved so as to reduce losses to enemy counter battery fire.

 

Aerial patrols would be heightened due to the Canadian paratroop attacks. Captured Canadians would be tortured, interrogated, and sent off to the gulag.

 

Meanwhile, in Canada, Soviet forces would reach the outskirts of Surrey. An artillery bombardment of the city would begin, as Soviet troops prepared to assault the city. Soviet troops which had been tasked with attacking Edmonton would, due to a lack of progress, be ordered to a new target instead: The city of Stewart.

Sweden is very disappointed in how quickly the world has turned to chaos after the events of World War Two. It hasn't even been a decade and there is already a large scale war. However, Sweden stands by its ally, The Soviet Union, although we wish you were not apart of it.

The American troops based in Malta attack the Canadians. They first lay siege to the base, then turn on all Canadian citizens on the island and begin to slaughter them mercilessly. The American navy continues following the Canadians (OOC: You said you bombed the American planes. How is that possible? Also, you were encircled, so don't forget about the Malta navy.) It orders its citizens to take cover in basements or wherever they can hide. The entire American army and Air Force are now engaged inside Canada, murdering men, women, and children as they go and moving as quickly as possible. Soon they reach their destinations, take them, and prepare for the counter-attack.

Failure to abide by this agreement, all of Malta's military might and that of her allies, will be brought to bear on every last Canadain. These documents will be signed by senior ranking Canadian official and returned before they depart the island. The Maltese government also returns the bodies of all deceased Canadians.

The American navy has finished off the vestiges (is that a word?) of the Canadian navy and now turns to bombard the east coast of Canada. It acknowledges Malta's peace agreement with Canada and retrieves its troops from their base on Malta. It also cuts off all aid to Malta.

So after some hard talks Austria has managed to gain sovereignty (Yay! *confetti*) on the conditions of neutrality, a 25 km DMZ with the Soviet Union (because somehow they think Austria is suicidal and would attack them), and no airforce (see previous reason). With the removal of all foreign troops from Austria the nation settles down to relax... And then word reaches them that the USSR and US and UK and Malta went to war with Canada for no reason and panic ensues. The Austrian Defense Forces begin working to try and maintain order and people fear that the nation is not safe from attacks from the two Super Powers.

The United States launches a massive counterattack against Canadian forces in Maine and Vermont. Missiles aimed at the still untaken Edmonton, as well as at Toronto and Ontario, are launched in large numbers, decimating the infrastructure of the cities. The American troops, supported by Soviet and American artillery, manage to take most of Edmonton. Now the western half of Canada has mostly been wiped out, with the sparsely populated northern areas left largely intact.

In the wake of Malta being left on their own, we look to (the NPC) countries of Tunisia, Lybia and Italy for aid in order for us to get back on our feet. Our militay is now reserved for coastal patrols and search and recuses and policing duties. The countries we are seeking aid from are all of a "non-military" type.

Tunisia, as it is under French control, cannot represent itself. Nevertheless, France does send some military-grade rations and a handful of peacekeepers.

 

Libya, as it is under British control, cannot represent itself. The British will have to get back to you on that.

 

Italy agrees to send some light amounts of aid.
