I had ignored the thread assuming that it was orbis role-play - which is not terribly interesting. That being said, everyone is entitled to their thing even if it bears little on the real world or history. That is a commonly accepted practice known as a coup. It has happened quite a bit in history. You point to communist sentiment, every major communist regime has come to power by deposing (i.e. removing illegally from power) their predecessor. The Soviet Union? Toppled the Romanov Dynasty. Mao's Party? Toppled the Qing Dynasty. Now the two above that I did just mention, would you argue that the Soviet Union was a legitimate entity? How about the Republic of China under Chairman Mao? I think most, if not everyone, would agree that these two nations, while their leadership was illegally assumed from predecessors, they were legitimate entities. So the Kingdom of Hawaii underwent a Western-Backed coup. Unpleasant, sure, but there you have it. The new government was legitimized by foreign entities, which is the traditionally accepted way to legitimize, and then the new government applied for statehood, and was accepted into the Union. 3. Let me ask you something, how much of Hawaii's GDP is dependent on outside forces? Tourism, Trade, the Military Base. That's the bulk of it, right? How does Hawaii get their internet? Underwater cables running what, from the US or from Australia? Doesn't really matter though. Let's play Walgreens world for a minute. Hawaiians overwhelmingly vote tomorrow to declare their Independence from the US, and the US being practical, doesn't want to see democracy subverted, so it permits this to happen. All the scientists have to be evacuated, and the military is going to pack up and go home, since they're obviously not welcome here anymore. This little collection of islands is left virtually unprotected. Does anyone else think that China or Russia would have any problems just blowing up the island and taking over? But hey, let's even pretend that Hawaii gets universal recognition. I suspect the US would issue an advisory alert, especially since they were just kicked out of Hawaii (essentially), which means the tourism industry would collapse. As there is no real domestic trade on the island, the economy would collapse. Since they just kicked out the US, there's no bailout on its way. Hawaii would be unable to pay its bills, and the internet would be shut off. Chinese and Russians still controlled each country after their revolutions, and Hawaiians still controlled Hawaii after King Kamehameha rose up and unified the islands. But in the case of the plantation bourgeoisie, they were universally white capitalists who swore oaths to our Kingdom but betrayed our Nation and people. They hit us while we were down, after most of our people were killed by foreign filth and disease, and illegally overthrew out queen in 1893. After the illegal overthrow, the "Republic of Hawaii" hired white supremacist mercenaries using the looted royal treasury and restricted all voting to treasonous white landowners. They also stole the crown lands, evicting Hawaiians who lived there by the Queens leave. Then in 1898 they achieved their original bourgeois goal of annexation. The foreign bourgeois are snakes, evil manipulators who swear false oaths and hide behind hired guns, always writing laws and moving goalposts for their own advantage.
