Group rebuilding proposal.

With the recent events involving the raiders coming to an end, some nations have been left decimated in the wake after facing unfair odds. I propose, as a community, we help these nations rebuild. What this means is coming together as a community and giving money to other nations that may not be in our own alliance. This is how I propose we do this, Each alliance states if they're willing to participate. Of the alliances participating you list how many nations of yours engaged in war against the raiders and provide links to such nations. For one day, each alliance participating will set their alliance tax rate to 50% and we shall pool all of those funds and I calculate an even amount to send to everyone who fought. Should we do this, I will handle the paperwork aspect of crunching the numbers and assigning which alliances should be sending to which nations.

I believe this sort of thing is properly the realm of alliances.  If an alliance was overwhelemed, its friends and allies can help.  If it has no friends and allies, then perhaps this type of proposal is appropriate.

 

I'm concerned about "throw-away nation" raiders rerolling and perpetually swarming low ranking members of alliances, but again, i see that as alliance-based issue that a properly managed alliance should be able to respond ot.

I like this idea, though we need to make sure the Raiders are eliminated first before we start giving out money, otherwise it's just going to be an endless cycle of rebuilding as the Raiders know their trolling is effective.

I won't turn down aid. Our entire alliance was sent back to the stone age from the cheaters. Took our lumps keeping them from rising in the ranks and doing the same to a lot of you.

So starving nations of half of their income for a day, and then hoping that an agreement could be made in alliances' governments to redistribute this money equally would help us to rebuild our nations?

You lost about $6,000 worth of soldiers, about $10K in Infrastructure, and $19,000 in resources. We have members in our alliance that lost over $300,000 in infrastructure alone. PLEASE tell me you're not complaining about the cost of your personal war.

I actually don't want you to help us at all. We've taken minor damages from them and have already payed back those who fought ourselves. There are smaller alliances, or alliances who have really been hit hard and hurt from this unfair incident. I was looking to help them, not ourselves. If I was looking for help for just my alliance, I would have spoken to alliances I'm friends with not come peddling here. 

 

The sentiment has been less than stellar towards this idea, and that's all it was. I thought this could be something the community to work together for; to grow together for. In political situations such as these you get to see how alliances truly are. This situation, yes, most major alliances (top 10) would likely lose more money than they'd gain to help feed the smaller ones, but what you gain in how your viewed by the alliances you helped without looking for personal gain says something more about your alliance that pixels can. 

 

I'm sad this project idea didn't gain more traction. I am an idealist, and I guess my thoughts were mistaken this time. I will speak to the alliances which showed some interest in helping fund rebuilding. Since the pool is smaller on which alliances would participate we'll be better served helping fewer people instead of giving 10k to everyone that fought. We can work out how to move forward with this idea (if at all), and how to delegate our aid. When an alliance is a victim of circumstances involving cheating, they should be helped by those lucky enough to not have been targeted (or as severely).

 

To those who want to point out Guardian's past in terms of cheating, I will say this. I am not those people.

The Atlas Confederacy will begin transferring funds directly to Terminus Est. for rebuilding. Prefontaine is right, people were hurt by cheaters and its our duty to help them rebuild.

Someone had to say it? That we shouldn't help nations who were negatively impacted by cheaters? How nice of you to be the noble individual to stand up to this obvious tyranny. 

 

Idealistic, yes. Naive? Not at all. In fact I would think a Socialist alliance would be for a distribution of wealth. I've seen things done like this before. People wanted to unite against this group, and part of that unification can be rebuilding, especially given the circumstances behind the damage.

 

This is an alliance discussion forum, yes. As you stated your words have no bearing on your alliance, so its presence in this thread is effectively worthless and thus detracting from the conversation. Which I'm finished with contributing to. Feel free to have the last word, however.

Pick somebody from near the top of the list (preferably someone who hasn't been inactive for a few days), send em what you can, and spend the rest of the day feeling totally good about yourself for sending a few made-up pixels to a made-up nation in made-up need. Maybe you can treat yourself to a sundae. You deserve it, you good person you.
