  1. More missing the point. Holy moly, you must be a man with no principles whatsoever.
  2. Once again, you seem to be under the impression that this is about emotions, but that simply is not the case. It is about how we, as people, interact with each other. It is about the standards of behavior that we hold ourselves, and others, to. Believe me, I know all about the internet. But there's one thing you seem to be missing here. This isn't 4chan. This is PoliticsAndWar, which has a set of rules, and an Admin/mods who have every right to determine what sort of behavior is acceptable within this community. Ultimately, they will be the ones to make the determination, but for my part I would argue that this sort of nonsense doesn't belong in this community. By the way, if you think people don't go around calling each other sex offenders in person out of fear of violence, then you are completely missing the point. You must be a truly miserable, detestable, sorry excuse for a human being.
  3. There's a difference between saying "don't offend people" and saying "Don't be a dick for no reason." It's not being "emotional" to demand that people treat others with a little respect and dignity. Suggesting that someone is a sex offender, for no reason, goes well beyond what should be considered socially acceptable. I swear, it's like some of the folks in this game have no idea how to interact with other human beings.
  4. Suggesting that someone is a sex offender just because is pretty low behavior.
  5. Until we've determined for a certainty that interstellar travel and colonization is not possible and/or feasible with any future technology, then the idea that there is no purpose is silly at best. As far as we are aware, humanity is the only lifeform with the kind of potential we have that exists anywhere in the universe. That makes our role in the universe of particular importance, assuming you believe (as I do) that continuing life in the universe is an important goal. If you're seeking some form of objective, timeless meaning to human life, then that would be where you want to start. On the other hand, even if you don't want a purpose that is quite as objective or timeless, there is still plenty of meaning to be found within the timescale of human life. For example, although it is small on the cosmic scale, human society itself is quite a large and powerful idea when viewed through the eyes of a particular individual. As a result, it might not be a stretch to say that a life for the purpose of improving or expanding human society would also be a live worth living. What can you bring to the table to help many people live better, fuller lives? Alternatively, how can you, personally, leave a mark on human society that will survive long beyond your own demise? As a single individual, I wouldn't hold it against anyone if they found their meaning in ideas such as these. Ultimately, every person has to discover their own purpose in life. Many people simply decide that their purpose should be to procreate, raise a happy family and a healthy child, and then pass away. That's fine, too. There doesn't necessarily have to be a singular purpose or meaning to our lives that can be expanded to include every single person. Some choose not to have any purpose in their life aside from doing what makes them happy.
  6. It's not a serious proposal that anyone who matters is considering. That's the point I'm trying to make. You people will go out of your way to find the most ridiculous articles you can by the most extreme feminists out there, then spread it all over the world as if it's a sign of an impending apocalypse. It simply does not reflect the reality of the situation on the ground.
  7. If you want to talk about "no substance," how about a tabloid that posts nonsense stories about nothing with no purpose other than to stir up anger among a specific group of people? This entire thread, and the topic that it's about, is completely devoid of substance in the first place.
  8. Ah, to be young and in love! This is a most beautiful treaty. As a wandering hunter of love, it does my heart so good to see this, the truest manifestation of passionate romance. Indeed, the sincerity of it all nearly brings me to tears. Today I offer to both UPN and TLF my most heartfelt congratulations. May Aidios bless you!
  9. Thank you for your contribution to the thread. Do you have any other words of wisdom to bestow upon us?
  10. New York Post is basically a tabloid made just for people like you to have something to !@#$ and complain about every day. If it makes you so upset to read it, then maybe try reading an actual newspaper or something.
  11. Of course, by "we," I simply meant Orbis as a whole. If you took my posts as some sort of threat or declaration related specifically to your alliance, then let me be the first to say that you have completely misinterpreted my meaning. The truth is that I, personally, have nothing to do with whatever grudge you and your alliance are pursuing. My intention is merely to assist the alliance I'm part of in whatever way I can. In any case, nothing I can say will cause you to withdraw that anger of yours, so I will leave it at that.
  12. I assumed that it would go without saying, but I will happily point out for the slow children among us that I speak only of myself when I post.
  13. Greetings! It is with great pleasure that I offer for your consideration my official introduction to the people of Orbis. My name is Olivert Reise Arnor, prodigal son of the great Eugent Reize Arnor III. To some unscrupulous individuals, I may also be known as the "Debaucherous Prince". Personally, I would be most pleased to be known simply as the "hunter of love." In any case, you may call me what you wish. I come to you today as the humble leader of a little nation currently known as Roma, although we may someday get around to finishing the paperwork involved in changing that name. I am no fan of paperwork, you see. It is far more my style to relax for the evening with a beautiful lady, a hard drink, and my trusty lute, ever present to utilize when I feel the need to serenade an unsuspecting audience. I promise that I will grow on you with time, but, if I do not, then that is quite fine by me as well - Life is no fun without a rival or two, after all. Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction, and I look forward to all of the "excitement" there is to come. ~ Olivert Reise Arnor
  14. That would be much easier to do if there weren't so many people who would willingly believe any nonsense they see on the internet. Someone's got to speak out when they see BS.
  15. To the lovely and illustrious BeachBunny, I did take a moment to view your nation, and I suppose I am not exactly surprised that you would feel this way, as you don't appear to hold any position of significance within your alliance. Given the nature of your sodality, it could be that even your leadership can spare the time to take it easy. I'm not familiar with your inner workings, so it's not really my place to say. Nonetheless, I believe that my larger point regarding the role of peacetime in relation to the success of an alliance in a time of war is still valid in many cases. ~ Olivert Reise Arnor
  16. My dear Prozens. Clearly, if you believe that the stage into which we are about to transition is "the boring" one, then you must not be participating properly in the grand soiree that is the browser-based nation simulator game. Indeed, I would argue that the true excitement is still before us! The reasoning behind this declaration is simple: These are the days in which we set the stage for the bitter struggle to come. Just as the complex puzzle of Orbis has shattered beneath the weight of this mighty conflict, the weeks and months ahead are surely ones in which the best of us shall work doggedly to ensure that those pieces may be reunited in a way that will prove most advantageous for ourselves and those we rely on. This is not a time to rest or to lament our misfortune - It is a time to work doubly hard, to reach deep within ourselves and discover our own persistence, and then to motivate the others around us to do the same. Woe to those who fail to understand this simple lesson! ~ Olivert Reise Arnor

  18. What a complete and total joke. Please stop using WND as a source for your hysterical Obama-bashing, thanks.
  19. Can't say I'm entirely surprised by the votes my alliance has received. My view of our performance was not positive in the slightest, and we've got a lot of work to do. The good news is that's the fun part.
  20. It's been a pleasure fighting you all, even though I lost.
  21. People should do what makes them happy so long as it doesn't harm someone else, so yes.
