  1. ITT Buorhann finds a way to make this topic about IQ voting, too. Get some new material soon, man.
  2. "Stupid" being defined as "people who do not participate in *your* game in the way in which you would prefer them to" is what makes this appear to be self serving and silly. We should be encouraging the broadest participation possible. If the democratic process is truly sacrosanct, surely the higher the sample of the total number of possible voters will yield us the most accurate results?
  3. This idea that multiple individual people ~who are all fully entitled to vote~ all voting for the same thing amounts to "rigging" is beyond silly. Rigging would be if we interfered with the mechanism of the vote itself to ensure the outcome couldn't possibly reflect the majority will of the voters.
  4. Because this isn't a constructive thread, this is a thread wherein you express your hurt feelings for not being as popular as you feel entitled to be recognized as being.
  5. If anyone else had made a similar post whom you disliked, I'm sure you'd at least see it as special pleading. It looks desperate at the very least.
  6. https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/21700-readysetgo-pnw-awards-2017-nominations/&do=findComment&comment=348582 I mean, if we're really going to get lectured to about the sanctity of the process, the goofus that begged for a nomination to get around self nominating would probably not be the best one to begin the discussion.
  7. I don't really care what Roquentin said. This doesn't have to be fair or tit for tat. If you want to do a different kind of contest, it could have been darts or we could have rolled dice or we could have selected names out of a hat. As for whether it's rigging... https://i.imgur.com/c6kujgM.png
  8. The spirit of the poll is whomever gets the most votes wins. That's how votes work. There's no inherent value to the motives of voters. If you hadn't wanted this to be a vote, yall could have just announced the winners you choose instead of having a series of hissy fits.
  9. If this is an attempt to get me to draw Mohammed, you can forget it for now unless I ever get mspaint back.
  10. These were always popularity contests and they always ended up with whomever gamed it out winning. Are we really so precious now as to pretend they were otherwise?
  11. what kind of a nerd uses forums? a really cool person with an avatar wouldn't bother.
  12. You're making an argument as to what it would be appropriate for a government to intervene in, not about what is free speech as such. Free speech is the freedom to say anything of course and the freedom to associate or not associate with that person based on what you hear them say is another right, but boiling down "free speech" absolutely to what is protected by the first amendment is lacking in nuance itself. If a large private corporation were to fire someone for something they say or an opinion they express, for instance, that certainly impinges on their freedom of speech but it does not do so in a way I would see as justifiable for the authorities to intervene to protect. Any absolute freedom is impossible to enforce in a real world, but to say that because it can't be enforced it isn't a right is to make an argument freedoms can't exist. I think people should be free from being murdered, but people get murdered every day and that doesn't cause me to reevaluate the essential value of believing in a right to not be murdered. Not being able to have a society that holds to an absolute standard doesn't invalidate the idea of all those things those principles can encompass.
  13. Actually, at the risk of further pedantry, this can be a free speech issue. It's just not a constitutionally protected free speech issue under the first amendment. John Stuart Mill would make the case that the government is less of a threat to free speech than the social pressures of a given era. That said, my interest in this thread is also quite low.
  14. we should have more contests about who knows whom better.
  15. Yeah, the war slowed down dramatically.
  16. Easy there Mr. Weinstein, Lordaeron is watching.
  17. This seems like a mistake of some kind, but maybe GoG will get rid of Seeker and this can get back on track...
  18. Polaris is good peeps. I hope this serves you both well.
  19. Yes, I haven't attempted to strain credulity in that way.
  20. I don't think I could imagine any scenario wherein anyone that reads these forums feels the touch of another human.
  21. I nominate myself for least self nominating player.
