Democracy is good until you have 300 million people using it. Just ends up in a select few with all the money and power just like in communism. We just have the illusion that we are free here in the states. They can tell us about how free we really are but it really isn't that hard to control people. You reward them with money and fancy items for the good deeds. The internet, TV, video games all do a great job at keeping us happy. Shit some people live solely for some games and programming. 

 

However Russia's problems go way up and beyond a stupid, fat, and lazy population. First off in Russia you can get hauled off and the shit kicked out of you for speaking out against the Government. That does not happen here in the states. We also have finally given some overdue rights to the homosexuals in the United States. Russia is still struggling against this and people literally have formed lynch mobs to beat the piss out of gay people in Russia much like the whites did to black people in the early 1900's. 

 

Next you have a quarter of the Russia population that gets it news from a state run media outlet. These media channels seem to be back to pushing cold war rhetoric type of media. Were the Kremlin controls what a large part of population is hearing. So they are not getting the most informed coverage. Like how Russia has stated they have no troops in Ukraine. When the body bags started coming back from Ukraine their media was not allowed to show anything. The United States did the same thing during Iraq/Afgan war when they banned photos and videos of soldiers caskets coming home. 

 

United States and Russia have been at it for a long time. Russia cannot win this encounter anymore. They just need to come to terms with it. Washington is crushing this encounter. Russia is going to be involved in a long drawn out stalemate or have to expend tremendously large amount of their hard military power.

 

This is why I believe we will see the Russian Federation crumble and something new arise from the ashes. The only problem with that is the amount of nuclear weapons they have. So if Russia did fall apart the only country with the means to contain the Nuclear threat would be the United States. With a crumbling currency and economy on top of a a lot of defense spending I don't see this working out well for the world.

I was talking a hypothetical situation were the Russian Federation fell apart. As I hope you know Russia has the Second largest nuclear weapon stock pile in the world. If they happen to go into a Civil War like Ukraine has evolved into or something crazy, the United States and the rest of the World would have to secure those Nuclear weapons so they don't fall into the wrong hands.

 

As I stated earlier the United States is the only country with the ability to mobilize fast enough for it to matter.

 

So any fall of Russia while they still have Nukes almost guarantees a United States invasion.

 

As for the United States Defense budget that is a completely different argument.

I'm just worried that Putin doesn't give a shit and is using the bad economic times to his advantage in the future. The way Hitler took advantage of how desperate the German people were after WWI because of their shit economy. Granted Putin has been in Power for like 15 years now.

You know I do not peg the actions of States to their leader.  It is the regime in Moscow making decisions.

 

Moscow will not really have a choice.  It will increase its level of repression in order to maintain control.

If you mean specifically with democracy, it's like what Churchill said, it's the worst form of government except every other one we've tried. It has its flaws like any other, mainly because people are flawed.

 

If you mean with what Russia's done, plenty. I assume you're talking about the vote in Crimea, which happened during a Russian occupation. Not to mention what they're currently doing in eastern Ukraine. They had an excuse in Georgia, Georgia basically picked a fight. They have no such thing here.

 

As for what the West has done wrong, plenty. If you mean recently, well a clear example would be the Iraq war. That wasn't handled well, and then the pullout wasn't either (so yes, both Bush and Obama screwed up there). Every country has skeletons in its closet if you look hard enough.

I hope that other nations come to my aid as well if National Socialists ever take over my government. The picture I posted is from Crimea. They sure do look upset.

Off of the top of my head, the Russians aren't that great. They let the Finns have like a 5 K/D ratio or something close to that, despite Russia having the strength advantage.
