Calondia takes national liberation very seriously and Meonesias actions are nothing but illegal meddling in the affairs of a former ally. We hope the Opeck people eventually gain independence but not by the hands of an aggressive tyrant like Pury Uryq. Let me break down how this happened: For starters, Meonesia had already been assisting the O.L.C. for quite some time now. They've been sending weapons, materials, and finances to aid the militant elements of the O.L.C. for a little while now. Meonesia also dropped several thousands commandos on Opeck via naval transports on the night that Opeck declared their independence. It is undetermined rather or not the commandos were regulars soldiers of the Meonesian Army post-civil war, but the commandos have been confirmed to be proficient-enough of fighters to be more than just a simple militia. The attack was carefully coordinated; the Opeck Liberation Collective quickly surrounded and stormed nearly every military base on the island that same night with Meonesian aid.In the speed of the attack, the several Regiments Unita and Donas Military Police have all either surrendered, retreated to the mainland, or have gone into hiding in the wilderness of the island.As of the typing of this, the O.L.C. have declared Opeck to be an independent nation known as the Republic of Opeck. They currently have an interim government.Currently, the situation in Opeck is contested. Pro-Evenstar militias and the Unita and Donas Military Police have been skirmishing heavily (although the Opeck government controls most of the military bases and the main two cities). Meonesian soldiers seem to be serving under O.L.C. officers, and the Meonesian government seems to have no control over the island. The Kingdom of The Evenstar is carefully weighing our options. Church Posted July 4, 2016 Share Posted July 4, 2016 (edited) Actually your totally off, the Republic becomes the Empire after Chancellor Palatine aka Lord Sidious announces to the Republic in a speech that they will become an Empire and no longer a republic and that they will no longer tolerate outside threat and that the Jedi Order is now any enemy to the Empire.
